UPDATE: I waited a bit and before I deleted the app, I tried it one more time - the issue seems to have been fixed and the app is working as advertised. I actually got responses from the developer regarding this, which I found impressive and surprising. Changing my rating from one star to 5. PREVIOUS REVIEW: app worked fine for awhile, but suddenly, it will not allow me to set up notifications for flights. When I try to set a notification for a flight, I get a message that “email to friends for single day only” (or something similar). I don’t have emails to friends set up in my settings, so the error message makes no sense to me. I have settings to just email to me to track flights I want to meet. I tried turning off even emails to me to reset to “send to my device”, but I still get the error message. Flight Tracker is a much more reliable app, and it has become my go-to app for tracking flights I need to meet. This one just doesn’t work anymore. ***Update: This has been fixed as of yesterday afternoon (5/23). Again, sorry for the inconvenience. Hi Fran70809, Thanks for letting us know about the issue you found. We're working to address it and there should be a fix in the next few days. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I have used the Flight Aware app for several years. I find it to be accurate (sometimes more so than the individual airlines) and informative. I can check the local airport(s) for delays which are not always apparent in other ways. For example a clear sunny day but flights being held at the point of origin due to weather (thunderstorms etc.). I know having experienced it my self that when you are sitting in the airport at the departure gate and the plane is there but you are told it is delayed due to weather and it is sunny where you are and at your destination you get frustrated. Flight Aware gives the information about the airport’s delays due to weather and I can check both the departure airport and destination with the weather overlay showing me what is happening. I also like being able to find my plane “Where is my plane now?”. I volunteer for a local non profit as a ‘taxi team driver’. Being able to track the flights I am meeting is a big help. Hi nlgess, thank you for the review! We've all gotten to the airport early only to realize our flight is delayed. We've recently added an indication on individual flights' screens when the origin or destination airport is experiencing delays, so you can plan your time accordingly.

We us it mostly for our family members to track our personal plane. It’s a good app that needs more work. It sometimes works when we file Flight following, maybe we are doing something wrong? It always works when we file an IFR flight plan. The problem we have with the app is when we cancel IFR in the air if we do a visual approach the app stops tracking the flight and my loved ones wonder it we crashed cause it stops the tracking short of the landing. The other thing is that we can’t sneak away without the family being notified of when we are leaving and where we going. The great thing is my FBO uses the app to know when we’re are arriving at the airport so they can have my vehicle out on the tarmac running and waiting for us with the air or the heat running....love that use of your app! Keep up the great work. Hi there, Our Flight Tracking team recently made some changes to fix the last-mile problem you mentioned in your review. Give it a look the next time you fly and let us know if it's still a problem for you by contacting our support department. Thanks a bunch!

We had a long 3 segment flight from MIA to FAI through DTW and SEA. We only made it through this app. I used it to track all our flights plus the inbound flights that had our planes as we had a tight connection in DTW. Using notifications it let me know all the statuses and told me before Delta did of delays. Our initial flight had a 2 hour weather related ground stop while we were sitting on it and we would miss our connection in DTW except Flight Aware kept updating me that our DTW-SEA flight kept getting pushed back due to delays so when we got there we made the flight as it got pushed back a few more times due to mechanical issues with the jetway. Except we would miss out SEA-FAI connection! Once again Flight Aware informed me before Delta of delays with our SEA-FAI flight and we ended up making it! Without Flight Aware I might have wrongly accepted Delta’s offers to reschedule a day later and would have missed parts of our scheduled events in Fairbanks!

The very best of the free flight trackers. The flight search is intuitive and useful. You don't have to know arcane airline codes or airport codes. You can just use the airline name and flight number, and it prompts you with a list to pick from. You can mark multiple flights as favorites so you can track them all from one page. I've tried a couple of other flight trackers with better ratings or more downloads. This one is better.

very helpful. The Denver Airport kidnapped me for a day. My son used this app to keep up with my second flight from Denver to Greensboro. BTW- if you are looking for a flight and a cheap one comes up? If you have a layover in Denver, resist the urge to book it. They couldn't pay me to go through Denver. I've had 3 separate flights through that airport and 3 nightmare connections . Pay more and skip Denver.

Good for free, some bugs. Two main ones I experienced are 1. In the Android app, if you change an alert to be for only one day, the summary still shows that it is alerting you indefinitely. 2. In the website, you can say how much of a heads-up you need on a flight. The default is 45 minutes, and you can change it, but if you "edit" again in order to see if your change stuck, it still shows 45 minutes.

Good app! Always room for improvement. Very easy to use. Would like to be able to connect device to monitor or TV to see flight tracking info. Currently only see startup script. Would also like feature that allows you to hear flight chatter. (I currently use a separate radio for that). Lastly, would like a feature that allows a camera installation to capture pics of flights as they pass overhead. I live very near an active runway and military base.

Cool app to see what's flying over your head. It's a little hard to use the way we use it... we like to drop research into the tail numbers and see a lot more features than this app provides, but it's a great little starting point for aviation heads.

Works for the most part but the user interface could use a lot of work. Won't let me remove an item from "My Aircraft," a flight I'm tracking won't refresh, and just a clunky user experience overall. 2024/01/24 Updating to 4 stars. My review is probably a bit harsh. I guess I've become used to the interface and have come to rely on this app whenever we travel.

For free, its a Nice app to check Gates, Terminals, Departing time change, of your commercial flights. However there is some small interface issues, not to friendly. Like if you tracking by registration number, it will track ok, then I tried to see details of the aircraft, like pictures, but can find details. Since I have an iphone too, i can tell, The Android version is better and freedom than the iphone.

Update: The app is still awesome but the display is experiencing major latency with refreshing the map. I ran a speed test and I’m currently getting 300 down/30 up (mbps) so it’s not speed and a forced reset of iPad didn’t fix the issue either. Updating to the new release of FlightAware was a no go as well. There’s always the website of course, but this is rather convenient. I’ll try again later and will update if my results are different. I've used the desktop FlightAware probably since its inception and the iOS version for many years. At times the app was ignored and under-developed, but the recent binge of updates have made it cutting edge once again. Every one of the flight tracking apps offers something just a bit different so YMMV according to your needs...FlightAware offers something for both the frequent traveler and the aviation aficionado so I highly recommend it. It also offers a very cheap option to remove annoying ads which I always take advantage of when offered. Hi LAX20531, thank you for the review. As it has been some time since your review, we'd like to ask that you please try out our app again. We've made many improvements in the last year to make the app more efficient in how it refreshes its data to give you the most up-to-date flight information.

Being a chauffeur, this app has been really helpful! 😁 ...but sometime within the last month I can no longer see the recent searches unless I'm connected to Wi-Fi, which makes it harder to keep up to date shuttling pilots & crew. 🙁 Plus, apparently a few pilots have told me they're recently having problems, but I can't remember what those are (I just remember they're different issues than mine).

App is generally functional; however, when viewing any given aircraft on the map, the position does not continuously update as it does in a web browser. In order to get an updated position, you have to refresh the page, usually multiple times. Also, whenever you select a flight, the map starts zoomed way out so you can see North and South America, instead of showing a more localized view of the aircraft and route.

Used to love this app but now impossible to login with a user name. Had to create a new account with email address, but unable to copy codes from email and paste into app. And if you dare to switch screens to check the code you have to start again! Also need to authenticator app as well!

don't login! not even integrated properly with Google sign-in. asking you for GMAIL username and password, very fishy!

The app is great, BUT somehow it forces me to log in every time. I followed my wife's flight to pick her up at the airport and every time I opened the app it wanted me to sign in to view "my flights". SUPER annoying since it's multifactor via email AND authenticator. Thus reducing from t to only 2 stars!

Hmmm. Looking for FlightRadar alternative. Lacks quite a few important bits. Seem to have to login relentlessly when I haven't logged out. Ridiculous. Losing another star for its inability to stay logged in AND requiring email code, copy & paste. Far too cumbersome. Paid my "remove ad" option but nothing to tell you the huge fee jump to save more items. No option for "Map screen first" like FR. Very annoying. Arrivals/departures are good but cluttered in comparison to FR. Had higher hopes.

Was once a great app. Now super difficult to use. 1) There's a blocked plane I can't remove from my aircraft. No matter how many times I delete it, the aircraft returns. 2) The app never stays logged in. I must log in at each use of it, and the new log in process is a painful three step process, all for protecting unimportant information such as the list of planes I track.

Using Flightaware for ages on a PC and it's the app of my choice - on a computer... In comparison, the app is a disaster. First, logging in wasn't possible. I was told to check my email for a code but nothing ever arrived. (A procedure by the way, that works fine on a PC.) So I started without being logged in, searched for a specific flight (that is currently on my PC screen), but the map in the app was completely blank. Or I better say, white. And finally I found the delete button for this app.

I have to Open, close, then Reopen just to get it to load locations. 1st time you open it, it grey's out 'add' functions and will not search anything.

I'm trying to track a flight for tomorrow, there is no way to change a date, not even a area to enter a date at all, horrible!! Trying it again, now it shows the flights for the next day, but now there is no way to delete the flights. This is a very simple thing that desperately needed, what's wrong with developers lmao, do they have the heads completely up there a.. ??

Like so many apps now, wants to bombard you with notifications. however, unlike other apps, it's impossible to use unless you agree to receive notifications. The programmers have set it so there's no way to get past the "want notifications" pop-up without agreeing to notifications.
