First of all, over was overall the APP worked great for viewing your trip information and checking in. It was very easy to navigate. The only issue I had was the In-Flight entertainment. I recently purchased the iPhone 11 and when I attempted to access the In-Flight Entertainment menu on board I would get an error that I was Offline. I powered cycled my phone several times with no luck. Thank goodness a flight attendant was already aware of this issue and was able to assist me with troubleshooting. She had to turn the WiFi off and power cycle the phone, turn the WiFi back on, then put it back in airplane mode several times just to access the In-Flight Entertainment menu to watch anything. If I changed movies the APP would freeze up. So I had to redo the power cycle process again. This was very frustrating. Aloha Ejlontok! Sorry to hear about your troubles with accessing the In-Flight Entertainment feature in our app. We'll share this with our developers and try to fix this as soon as possible. Thank you for sharing your details with us and please email us at [email protected] if you have any additional feedback. Mahalo.
Update: From Zero to Hero! Very happy with the customer service for this app. Almost as soon as I made my issue apparent (not being able to sign in), it was fixed and I have had no issues at all since. Thank you! I have no problem signing into the website but I have not had any luck in logging into the app. Keeps saying they can not locate the account. I have tried using my username and account number and I have even tried changing my password. I have also tried reinstalling the app. Won't work
I have had my login error out so many times and have had to change my password. Since you can’t use old passwords it’s making it extremely more difficult and exceedingly more frustrating for me to justify even keeping this app. I was told to use another browser which I though was strange since it’s the app giving me problems not the website login. Apparently I’m the only one having this issue but I’m not going to keep changing my password because the app can’t recognize my login even though the website does. *UPDATE* I figured out that unlike most (if not all other) sites I use, this one automatically begins the password login with uppercase. I’m so used to having to “manually change” any letter from lower to upper case that I didn’t realize the app automatically began with upper case and so each time I tried to login (my password begins with a uppercase letter) I selected the shift which in actuality made it lowercase. Been so used to doing it one way as force of habit I didn’t realize it was my error. Aloha! We are truly sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with trying to log in on the app. Have you already tried deleting and reinstalling the app? Sometimes the issue with log-in arises after an app update is automatically downloaded, and doing a fresh install usually resolves it. We'd love it if you would give us another chance! Mahalo.
Wrote the below review 6 months ago. Nothing has really changed. Booking points still buggy and won’t display all the time. Still haven’t fixed infant seat booking. Most changes require calling customer service. Still years behind southwest app and Other competitors. Needs to be better. Original review below. Still stands. Honestly this app doesn’t cut it in the modern age. It’s way too glitchy. The last 3 flights I’ve checked in on using the app it can’t load the luggage section and you are forced to do it at the airport. Furthermore, 4 times today I’ve tried to Book a flight using miles, clearly selecting miles in the booking part, and every time it not only displays cash only, but it then asks for all my personal info as if I’m not logged in. This is despite clearly being logged in, seeing my other linked flights and my point balance. The app is janky. Final example: when you book and click traveling with lap infant it tells you to call the reservations line and book (which almost ALWAYS results in higher fares than on app!) but low and behold if you ignore that, book normally and when check in time comes you can add a lap infant in a matter of taps on the app no problem. Why tell guests to call when it is clearly doable and easy in the app? I literally just did this 2 days ago. This misinformation, inconsistency and instability makes this app frustrating. It could be way better. Aloha! Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful feedback! Please accept our sincere apologies for the disappointing experience you've had. Your frustration is completely understandable. As of February 10th, we rolled out a fix to the issue where you were not able to search for flights in miles and see your saved travelers or payment methods. We also released an updated version a couple of days ago that should help with the Baggage issue you were describing. Thank you for calling attention to the language about booking an infant - we'll take a look at that. If you have any other feedback to share or any questions that we could help with, please email us at [email protected]. Mahalo!
If I'm logged in to the app, I shouldn't have to add or search for my trip. It should show up on my profile and make my check-in easy; it did not. I had to hunt on my email for confirmation # to add it. Sure this is a small task, but what's the point of logging into the app then?! When I'm checking in and I'm logged in, I shouldn't be asked for my Hawaiian Airlines account number, YOU KNOW THAT INFORMATION BETTER THAN ME. Again, what's the point of logging into the app?
Like many other reviewers, after I installed this app I am unable to log into it. I've deleted it and reinstalled it twice but no success. I tried changing my password on HAL's website, and also totally signing out and signing back in, but it didn't work either. Finally figured out that the app does not like special characters in its password. Only use letters and numbers. Have not used the app yet, but at least I can log into it now.
Slow and unresponsive. Was not assigned a seat at check-in, even though the wording makes it seem as if we would be with our basic ticket. Please update the website and booking process with EXPLICIT information regarding seat assignment to avoid unnecessary calls/texts into support - I'm sure they'd greatly appreciate it. As for the app, it takes a long time to open and chat support takes ages to load. Even longer for someone to respond.
Couldn't log in for weeks on my phone. When I finally did, can't pull up any flight or trip information. When I logged in with the browser on my phone, I can't access any data. No apparent problems on my PC. Follow-up on 2/11: update installed, still cannot log in with the app using either username or Hawaiianmiles #. No issues with the browser on the phone or PC. App error message: "Can't seem to find that account. Please try again".
The app is functional but really full of annoying bugs. One minute it says check-in was closed, after refreshing it says check-in was open. A warning message popped out saying that I couldn't add bags (because of system limitations), but then it did let me add bags (and happily charged my credit card). I also have trouble getting the app keep me logged in.
Its really unfortunate...the app is horrible to use, but you kind of have to use it. It doesn't remember your flights, so you have to remember your confirmation code, constant "Something went wrong" error on opening. Bad navigation have to login in multiple places while already logged in. Really frustrating app....but unfortunately to be electronic we are stuck with this...sad... Ohh the ads work every time though!! You don't have to worry about that....LOL!
The newest update once again is a FAIL! I can no longer easily make flight or seat changes. When booking flights, passenger info isn't saved, requiring all data to be handy, and consuming the time it takes to complete the transaction. The pricing calendar used to be easily available at the top when searching for flights, allowing us to easily compare fare differences. This is probably the worst update yet.
This app has never operated properly for me. From being unable to access it, delays in browsing, problems when navigating throughout, applying my Hawaiian Miles, to viewing and booking flights. This will be the third time that I will be unistalling this app and re-installing it. I hope it works, because, although the internet site works for me, it also has similar issues as well.
App feels like it's not finished. Some buttons do nothing. Tried to download boarding pass and nothing happened. Also I couldn't login in the app but I can login in browser. I read other review feedback that some characters don't work in passwords in the app so you need to change your password if you want to use the app!!! Not fun on the way to the airport!!!
It's been over a week and the app is still broken and unable to log on...I called tech support they said give it a day or two. It's now 7+ days and still broken. I sure hope it's fixed before my flight. Hard to rate an app when you can't even log on. They had no trouble taking my money for the flight. By the way I logged on with my desktop with no issues. That's how I made the reservation...but no luck with mobile app.
Delayed alerts like "your flight is cancelled" appears hours after the announcement was made in the local news. Charges you instantly and takes over a month to refund. Faster to use your web browser. More reliable to book through a different company. Safer to fly with someone else. If you think this is a rant, then perhaps you should be alarmed that there is no customer service within this app. Also don't plan on receiving customer service either unless you have family and friends working there.
Tried to check in on flights over the last week, none have worked. App consistently locks up a page or 2 in, and simply freezes and stops working, making check-in impossible. Once I had to do it online, but then the app was unable to retrieve a boarding pass (since I already checked on) and on the return trip I used the old app (which somehow never uninstalled with the update!) and as bad as that one is, it worked when the "new and improved!" one couldn't. Ugh. 0 for 2 Hawaiian.
Hawaiian Airlines is in a race to the bottom to see how awful they can make the flying experience and still sell tickets. The app is full of bugs, most features take you to the website, and their customer service department would be improved if it were instead run by ants. Congratulations. You are the Comcast of the skies. Edit: 3/4/25. Two years later. Same garbage app. Can't check in on the app. Can't load my boarding passes into Google wallet. Constantly crashing.
I hate how it constantly kicks me out of my account, and sometimes, when I re-login, an error has occurred. ALSO, what's frustrating is that it doesn't save your flight status on the app. So, I have to keep re-entering my confirmation code with my last name to find it. And this too also has an error sometimes!
Very, very laggy, and the problem isn't my network (verified via speedtest). I had to reload the page 5 times for the seatmap to appear. I had it say multiple times to check in with an agent after looking at the loading animation for over 30 seconds. Only through spite I was able to check in for my flight. I still don't know what my checked bag situation is because that refused to load at all.
The app worked fine for flight check-in, but it's worthless for checking airfare, particularly if you are doing more than one search (e.g., trying different dates, changing airports, etc). It will do the first search fine, then goes haywire after that. The data will not load and then the app freezes if you go out and go back in. I have to keep restarting my phone. I cleared the cache and that did nothing to resolve the problem.
The app does not even come up in the Google Play Store when I search for it, just the Hawaiian Airlines shopping app. When I try to install from my browser, it says it's already installed on my devices, but the device I want to install it on, a Samsung Notebook, does not show up in the device list. Your app is a lousy, this is my first flight with Hawaiian Airlines and the lack of in-flight entertainment is a problem. Please fix it so it can be installed on all devices including notebooks, which are just mobile devices like a phone.
When you purchase your tickets, Hawaiian advertises "No change fees. Book now, change if you need to without a fee." They ALWAYS charge a fee. I have changed flights and had to pay a fee each time. Even the ticket price is the same for the flights. They justify this by using the price of the ticket when purchased. So, essentially you are not allowed this so called guarantee if you purchase early.
I have been flying Hawaiian for 40+ years, but after years of frustration with no end in sight, will not ever fly with them again. Alaskan and Southwest are my new go to’s. Hawaiian’s website is archaic, forcing me to call their overseas customer service center, for which the wait times to get a rep is long… sometimes I’m kept waiting for 45 minutes so I end up hanging up out of frustration, and on top of that the training their customer service representatives receive is often inadequate. (You’ll get as many answers to the same question as the number of rep’s you speak to.) one example: the simple task of accessing a credit requires a phone call to customer service. Why not simply have the credit in my account to use when I book my next flight? This lack of common functionality is absent from Hawaiian‘s website. Auwe! I hope they get their act together because once onboard everything is good, it’s just the planning and executing that has become excruciatingly difficult. Aloha and mahalo for sharing your feedback with us - it is truly appreciated. We will continue working to improve our website and app to better support our guests' needs like accessing their credit. Mahalo for your input!
