Thank you for the care packages and thanks to Air Canada
This app is wonderful & makes the process with flights seamless. It’s incredibly user friendly. The customer service however has been extremely disappointing & a horrible experience so far. Our bags until now are lost, it’s been 7 days since arriving in Zurich & we’ve heard absolutely nothing from air Canada. This is very unprofessional & has ruined our trip. Our return flight is in 2 days & I fear that our bags will be lost forever. No one has contacted us even if we’ve filed a report & obviously no update since the report was filed either. Air Canada definitely needs to get this resolved or I believe they will have many law suits coming their way as we are definitely not the only passengers to experience this. It’s a great airline, air plane & flights staff are wonderful BUT if you are flying air Canada DO NOT check your bags in!!
Had to buy the ticket as a guest. Could not sign in for Aeroplan. System took a long long while to process my purchase only to say try again. When I tried again the price of ticket had gone up. Had to pay more. It’s been painful to purchase my ticket this time with Air Canada. Unfortunately they don’t have competition for my itinerary.
Great, when it works! Many times, after everything has been working well for a while, start getting this message when doing a search: We're sorry for the inconvenience It seems like your request couldn't go through. This can occasionally happen as we work to keep our systems secure. Please try again in a few minutes. You can also try using a different Wi-Fi network, switching to cellular data, or turning off any VPN that may be running. Nothing can fix it, and it can last for days at a time.
I have updated my review to 2 star because the app still requires a lot of work as follows, 1-Itineray association doesn't work too well. If some itineraries are created outside the app they have to be manually input. 2-There is no access to flight receipts. One must still request copies of their receipts by email and wait 3 weeks for them. 3-Digital ID does not work when it gets to Passport scanning. It takes a picture of the photo page but then fails at NFC scanning . I hope that helps.
REVISING TO A 1 out of 5. This app is so bad that you will receive a notification on your iPhone that a flight schedule has changed. BUT open the app and there will be no such alert (there is no alert screen) and the flight in your itinerary will still show...the old schedule. Quit the app and restart, same thing, no update. IF ANYTHING THE APP SHOULD ALWAYS SHOW THR CORRECT INFORMATION. The right way to build an app is for it to pull updates the second you relaunch it or pull down from the top to refresh or for Pete’s sake offer a button that says “Check for updates.” No idea what Air Canada is doing. And the little bell at the top. That should not lead to a setting. Those go in “Settings.” That bell icon should lead to, wait for it...Alerts (seen and unseen). Absolutely unacceptable. —- Seriously, it’s like they got half way through making this app and then kind of gave up and embedded a web view to finish it off. My boarding passes don’t show up in the app even after checking in. You can’t add your pass to the wallet unless you long click on the link? You can only retrieve your pass by going back to check in where it then tells you you’ve already checked in (duh) and then gives you the option to view your pass! Thing is, that looks like a call each time to the internet so if you’re phone for whatever reason doesn’t have a signal at the gate... Like how is this considered version 5 of an app when I don’t see it as version 1? RESPONSE TO AN EARLIER REVIEW (Sep 8, 2020): Thank you for your feedback regarding check-in and boarding pass. After you've checked-in (using the app), the boarding pass becomes available in the app and can be found at the bottom of every screen for quick and easy access. Boarding passes stored in the app are also available offline. You shouldn't need to retrieve them through the check-in window. The app will also automatically attempt to retrieve boarding passes if your booking is saved in the app (in Trips), but you can manually add your boarding pass to the app by following these steps: From 'Home' tab, press the menu button in the top left corner, then press 'Boarding passes'. From the 'Boarding passes' screen, press 'Add boarding pass' and provide your booking reference number and last name, then press 'Add'. We'll be making some improvements in this area over the next few releases, but in the meantime - let us know if the steps listed above worked for you. Questions? Write us at [email protected], and please include App Store Review from jsonlinter in the subject line, so that we can follow up. --- FOLLOW UP (Oct 5, 2020) Thank you for your updated feedback regarding the app. At every app start, the app automatically pulls/fetches the latest information for all bookings in the app, as well as retrieves updates for flight status, and Aeroplan profile if you're logged in. This means that a few seconds after the app starts, it is always showing the latest and correct information for your booking, flights, and profile. To let you know that everything updated correctly (or not), we display the last updated time on all screens which pull information from these backend systems. Look for the Updated less than a minute ago messaging, which usually appears near the top of the screen. If this information cannot be updated, then you'll see a different message, such as Updated more than an hour ago. Even with the tips we provided earlier, it sounds like the app isn't working as well as expected for you. We're sorry to hear that. In our earlier reply, we asked that you kindly reach out by email - but we haven't received anything from you yet. If you have suggestions for improvement, found a bug, would like some help troubleshooting or just need someone to talk to about the app then please write us at [email protected], and include App Store Review from jsonlinter in the subject line, so that we can follow up. --- FOLLOW UP (Oct 19, 2020) Hello jsonlinter, we still haven't heard from you! On the iPad app sign-up page, the keyboard doesn’t show up to enter the login credentials. You need to write them somewhere else like the Notes app, then copy and paste. How is it that such an app can get so many 5-star ratings? Okay, here’s an update. The screen when no keyboard showed up was at the very first time I wanted to create an account on this app. (I had an account years ago, but somehow it was deleted.) Now that I got a new account on a computer, the login screen on the app shows a gray bottom-third area with an option to bring the keyboard on the left-bottom of it (and also presenting my login email on the top-middle of it inherited from the shared Keychain). That gray area never showed up during my initial creating-an-account process. There was and is nothing wrong with my iPad as suggested by the developer, so I’m sticking with my rating. We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble signing in on your iPad. As we write this review, we were able to successfully sign in using an iPad - with an on-screen keyboard appearing in both portrait and landscape orientations. Screenshots here: https://imgur.com/a/cARuaf2 If you’re experiencing this issue, our first recommendation is to reboot or soft reset your device and try again. Instructions can be found here: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT210631 and here: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/ipad/ipad9955c007/ipados As well please note that if you have an external keyboard connected to your iPad either as a keyboard case, or Bluetooth keyboard - the on-screen keyboard will not appear by default. Either enter your information using your external keyboard, or disconnect it to reveal the on-screen keyboard. --- FOLLOW UP (MAY 8, 2022) --- Thank you for taking the time to update your review with that additional information. We did not suggest anything was wrong with your iPad, so our apologies if it was interpreted that way. We just suggested you restart it. At this time, we have no other reports of this issue, and we are unable to reproduce the issue you’re describing. If restarting your iPad hasn’t resolved the issue, then please send us an email at [email protected] with a screenshot of the issue. As well, please let us know your iPad version (i.e. iPad Air 3, iPad Pro, iPad Mini, etc.) and iOS version. A member of our team will look into this issue and get back to you. When writing us, please also include “App Review from L_e_v” in the subject line, so that we can follow up. --- FOLLOW UP (MAY 14, 2022) --- Hello! We wanted to follow up with you, as we didn't hear back. Please let us know if everything is working well after you've restarted your iPad. Thank you.
Terribly clunky, difficult to sign into, so many security pages, not streamlined. I was forced to do the process over and over b/c they kept sending different verification codes; if you click verify in the email, it doesn't verify, it opens a new web page that starts the process all over again. (To top it all off, their customer service is terrible! I've been on hold now for 45min. in a foreign country. selecting for a call back doesn't help, was still on hold for 18min before a person ans'd.)
Very slow to load. Won't let me log into my Aeroplan account despite multiple attempts to retrieve it. App is supposed to send updates about boarding times.or flight changes but does not do so reliably. I was almost late to board a flight in Montreal because they changed the flight time and I got no notification from the app. Similar apps for United, American Airlines, Jet Blue, Delta and WestJet (to name a few) all work much better than this one.
Air Canada is just terrible in general. Suppose you booked a flight, but you're stuck in limbo ("A problem occurred with your session but a request was sent to create your booking. To verify that your booking is confirmed, call Air Canada Reservations"). So you think maybe I can cancel this reservation for the app. Your heart soars when the app can find the reservation. But no, you can't cancel the reservation from the app. And the wait time is 3 hours when you try to call. Avoid Air Canada.
The app doesn't let you log in without installing a browser that I don't want or need. I use Firefox nightly and it expects me to install the regular Firefox. Why you can't log in with any browser, or even just log into the app directly like every single other app ever written, is a mystery. Either way, it's impossible to actually log into the app and therefore completely useless.
Terrible re-design of app. Can't easily find boarding passes. They are under "more" not "my trips" tab. Alaska Airlines app let's you select earlier or later flights during check in, this doesn't. Doesn't send notifications, and always get confused between logging in with Air Canada credentials or Aeroplan. Old Air Canada user interface was pretty good, this new stuff is garbage.
Cannot even log in. Their website is constantly down and so I was directed to use the app, but that's broken too🤷♀️. Tried booking a flight on 2 separate days through the app but it won't let me, so I guess I have to use a different airline. Like, it's the 21st century, I should be able to book my flight without having to call an agent.
Buggy, kept erroring out for hours and failing at key moments (had connection with other apps and in status bar). The app also uses scroll down menus in lieu of data entery at multiple points, just let me type (this is extra annoying when working around bugs) Don't recommend, it'd be terrible to try and use on a time crunch. Just go to the airport and talk with a ticket agent...
