I love this app!! Yeah, I was initially put off by some poor ratings but took the plunge based on the videos. I'm glad I trusted my gut and it works just fine. Simply get the drums near enough in tune by ear and start working with the app to do the rest. Getting the batter and reso heads to sing with the 1.5RTF figure can seem like 1 step forwards and 2 back at times, but it does work - just make very minor adjustments to both heads as per screen instructions. It's well worth the cost, anyway.
Save yourself the frustration of trying to tune your drums with a generic instrument tuner. I spent a couple of days trying other tuners before finding this one. After watching the tutorial and reading the instructions this is pretty clear cut. I'm really impressed with how this tuner catches the pitch when other apps just can't quite do it. What really puts the icing on the cake is this app isn't subscription based! Well done. Highly recommended
This app is a revelation. There's a learning curve and extraneous noises will throw it off but this makes my drums finally sound great. I've played for 40 years and never really could get the drums to sound good until using this. Every drummer should use this.
I just downloaded and tried a few of these things, and this is the only one that worked at all and it even worked for HAND DRUMS, so that alone is worth five stars and five bucks. The lug-by-lug feature is great (check out the YouTube clip). And the customer care is quick, thorough and personal, with respect to both problems and suggestions. Check it out!
Very useful tools. It worked perfectly. The tool is even flexible enough to go beyond what it says it can do. If you use the 1.5 ratio method, your reso head frequency will be higher than the batter head. Trying tuning the reso head to a 1.5 ratio, and your reso head will have a lower frequency than your batter head, which I prefer. Any thoughts I had regarding the app resulted in a very fast response.
I have been a garage drummer for 45 plus years. Always had trouble tuning my drums. Bought the tension dial thingy, tried by ear, watched many videos. I installed the IDrum Tune Pro. My cheap Ludwig snare was close to what I wanted it to sound but never could get that sweet spot. I read your Idrum manual and in 1 hour I finally got that snare to sound really sweet. I never thought about the frequency while tuning. And the 1.75 tuning technic is what did it for me. Very nice product. Best $ 6.99
I didnt even hesitate . Have the last version on my old phone and 8 bucks is definitly worth it. 2 years into drums and it actually coaches and teaches you about tones frequencies etc along with the tuning feature. Cant go wrong for 8 bucks .
I have this on my Google pixel 3 and so far so good! Definitely makes tubing drums easier and I can say following the pitch, then lug, and then resonant relation, toms are sound really good. There are a few things that are annoying like having to go back to main menu and then back into certain functions, but maybe it's just me not knowing certain things. I did have an issue this last time where I couldn't get RTF to change even thought I kept changing tuning, but just showed me RTF of 1.
The app is amazing and the work this developer put in is amazing. I have two gripes however. First is that the mic sensitivity setting has to be changed every time you reopen the app. The second is that occasionally the mic will stop listening and you have to exit the app and open it again. Once these are fixed definitely 5 stars.
Bought it and it works. BUT: I don't understand why there is no audible reference note. Let's say I want to tune a tom to E. Surely the app should let me hear an E to help matching. Most of us won't be able to guess what the pitch will be by looking at a drawing of a keyboard and frequency numbers. Add a tuning reference note for each key and make the app REALLY good. P.s I have only used it once, so maybe there is a built in aid that I haven't found?
Not great , it's just not accurate enough , hit my snare a couple of times in the same place and got different readings , it's a great idea but just not accurate enough , wish it gave accurate notation readings as well as Hz
Edit: Thanks for your reply though I have tried all the steps you listed below and still had no luck. I understand how drum tuning works and still think there may be an error on this app. The idea is there and I see others have had a positive experience with this app. Though in my experience I could not get this app to work properly on my smart phone, I was getting incorrect readings/no reading at all. I did reach out via email when I first purchased the app but never received a reply.
Not accurate on lower frequencies at all. Hit the floor tom and it will measure 115 even though I'm nowhere near that high in pitch, hit it again and this time it measures 54, which would be even lower than my bass drum tuning. I guess you get what you paid for. Should have just bought a tunebot instead.
Readings jump all over the place. I can get a 74hz measurement at one lug and matching all the way around. Change nothing then get a 110 with minor variances on the other. So far it seems pretty inaccurate
