Rick Clifton, the United Airlines gate person at gate A11 at the Seattle Washington airport, was spectacular in his service to us. Alaska Airlines had cancelled our flight and rebooked us with United Airlines on flight 529. We did not know where to go, much less how to get checked in. We were surely set up for a bad experience! But, then we met United Airlines person Rick Clifton. He not only helped us get checked in and made sure our luggage got transferred, but about two hours later Rick came and found us, as we were spending the night at the terminal loading gate A11 area and gave us our boarding passes. Rick truly went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of!! I am so thankful to him and to United Airlines!! We don’t fly very often and only flew on Alaskan Airlines due to the cruise line booked this flight and we had no choice. Trust me when I say, if I get to choose who I fly with, it will only be with United Airlines!! They truly are the friendly skies and folks like Rick Clifton go out of their way to make it so!! I can’t say enough how happy we are to have met Rick Clifton, as he turn a cancelled flight experience, which could have been a major negative, into not only a tolerable experience, but actually a positive experience!! If you have to fly, United Airlines is the only way to go!!

Access to my ‘ticket’ and flight information is so quickly is awesome! Wow, I remember having to go down to a ticket office(30 min) and spend an hour having someone else tell what they thought my flight options were (60min) and then having to print a ticket and keep up with it(never) and then strategically place the ticket where I can present it to 4 different people so I can make it through the airport including checking in for flight (60min+) then security, gate agent, and flight attendant all while stopping to check the board for which gate (15min) and any updates and heaven forbid I have a connecting flight and another flight coupon! Only complaint is I seem to have to closedown the app to get it to update added reservations - even if I made the reservation with the app. But maybe that is because I have gotten so used to having the information right away! It actually seems like the app, through notifications, gets the updated flight information quicker than the gate agents and flight crews! Makes me feel like a seasoned traveler - Well Done! Keep those updates coming.

I've used this for 2 trips and I am sold. it was very easy to check in & pick out my seat, everything went smooth. The reminders and updates of how your flight was going and where you needed to be we're not intrusive, but nicely timed. it also has an interactive map to help you get to the baggage or exit or rental car options.

If you're flying to the states and there are no flight changes, things are working. Returning to Canada is the reason for my lower review, it didn't let me check in because I need entry forms but it didn't tell me where to get them. As a Canadian citizen re-entering Canada I have never had to have those prior to entering Canada. The app has improved since my last trip (I have raised my rating from 1 star), but it's still not a perfect user experience nor does it cater towards Canadians.

Pretty good app for check in - didn't need to do anything at the airport, just walk up to security and find my gate. It also auto saved the boarding passes to my phone, so I didn't have to remember that. My second flight did not have TV screens but offered personal entertainment through the app - but would have been nice to know this ahead of time (when I could have downloaded to my tablet as well as my phone and made use of a larger screen. No free internet on my flight up to download then : (

I dislike leaving a “review” when I really need to submit a product complaint, but United leaves me no other obvious choice to submit feedback about the app. Overall, it’s a great app. But now that you must put in your card information into the app in order to make purchases on board, there’s a problem. I am NOT going to verify my card every time I check in for a flight. That’s just stupid. I do it once, and that should be it. I take at least two flights a week on United. So at least twice a week I’m being asked to verify a card that I verified less than 4 days ago. You may say that “we need to verify the card is still in your possession” or some other reason. Sorry. But that’s your problem. If you require us to use the app instead of presenting a card, then there are certain risks you accept. Sure. Some guy that flys once a year? Make him verify the card. Your Platinums? Stop hassling us. It’s easier for me to skip on board purchases than to have to go through a verification every time I check in. Especially since I have to click all the extra boxes now because some people are too stupid to know to not fly if they have Covid and that they have to wear a mask. I hate the dumbing down of America to its lowest common denominator. So ease up on the card verification or go back to taking cards in flight.

Works pretty good if you have an American passport, but the app is very buggy when you have to enter in a passport from another country, or a Permanent Residents Card. It asks for the card, but then tells you to take a photo of the passport. On one screen, you take the photo but then can't submit it because there is no button. I tried numerous times to check in my wife's passport and at one point it looked like it was processing; then it threw an error message.

I have used this app for years and its still very useful. HOWEVER, what's up with the extra screens before you can do anything useful? The photo of the airplane is one thing (maybe thats shown whilst the app loads?) But now there's an EXTRA screen that seems to be for offers and such. WHY? If I'm in the queue and about to scan my boarding pass, I don't need to wait another 10 seconds for no reason. This is a hugely regressive step.

It's a decent app, but minus 2 stars because there are ads and promotions embedded in the information being displayed. I strongly feel that when customers check in and confirm their flight time, gate location, TSA, etc, the last thing we want is to have to filter through banner ads and not accidentally click on a promotion. United, please save the ads for maybe when I purchase a ticket, but not in the same screen as check-in.

Movies & TV do not work in the app (during the flight), but they work in the web browser. When I am looking at detailed information about the current flight, the app continues the brightness on high, the same way as for the boarding pass. This is ridiculous: huge drain of the battery during travel and disturbing appearance.

The app itself isn't particularly bad, but it is borderline impossible to check in with a foreign passport. The document scanner for Permanent Resident cards just doesn't work at all? Literally zero functionality. It takes the picture and then never shows the accept button, only prompting a retake. Spent almost three hours trying everything to get it to work, to the point where my phone was even showing me popups that the app had a bug 😭

Oops! We're sorry, something went wrong! This app is good for getting a boarding pass to load onto Google wallet. Past that, prepare to deal with a slow and clunky interface that can't find your information half the time and drops out in the middle of operations, forcing you to go through the 2FA login process again. This feels like an app from 2008.

The app is not intuitive enough to get to your boarding pass quickly. It takes multiple extra steps, then should be needed, and often, it times out regardless of Wifi or network connection. This leads to instable connectivity at critical moments in travel, especially in terminals where you have to show your boarding pass multiple times prior to reaching the aircraft. It's definitely not the best airline app I've used. Frequent domestic and Intl traveler.

app messes up easily for me, couldn't log in despite several emails they sent to fix the problem, and I needed help before they opened at 7am. They never simplify the mileage plan log in for me, I apparently have more than one account and it won't let me log in to any of them. it's been going on for over a year because I don't regularly fly with them. My experience with logging in is just horrible..

The boarding pass function is nice. The app works fine on the ground but it has absolutely never worked for me in the air... for contact free food ordering, entertainment, anything. I used to think it was just a me issue and I'd try to update everything on the ground hoping it'd work next time, but nope. I'd say it's completely failed on at least 20 flights? Worked on 0.

I'd give zero stars if I could. Without fail, the document scanner in this app has never worked for my passport or residency cards; no matter the lighting conditions or the 5 different phone cameras I've tried. Seriously, hot garbage whoever is building this feature. You might as well just not have it. Maybe it only works for American documents, but then the app should highlight it. Complete waste of time.

after canceling my trip 3 times I was told that there was no need for me to rebook to somewhere else and take a second flight to my desired destination as there was no way they were canceling my flight a 4th time. they then proceeded to cancel with a day to my flight and any flight I would have to pay an extra bonus for business class as that was all that's available. my experience was me being manipulated and deceived by a "credible airline ". if you're booking somewhere risky don't use them!

this app keeps crashing when trying to upload necessary documents for travel check in it's frustrating and overwhelming especially when traveling with 4 children!!!!!!!! your customer service suggestion was to arrive early i already have to arrive hours early as it's an international flight I'm trying to streamline as much as I can because I'm traveling with multiple children.

Fix your stupid app. Trying to scan the passport, only works on like the 10th time. After it finally accepts the scan, I get an error "Something went wrong". What does that mean? That is a useless piece of information. At least explain what the error is. Check your error handling code, how many Software Engineers do you have working on this thing??

App reminds me why I'm so glad I can usually fly Delta. Slow, buggy, doesn't register (or perhaps "conveniently forgets") seat assignments, quotes prices in miles when it's a cash only purchase, won't let you back out of certain screens without restarting check-in from beginning, encourages biometrics and then hard-fails on the first attempt so you have to scramble for passwords. Awful.

This app makes you enter a credit card before you check in, but when filling out the address for the card it keeps saying 'enter a valid state.' You can only select from a drop-down list of states in the app, so it's not like I entered the wrong information. And since the app doesn't recognize options from its own list, I can't enter my credit card info, so I can't check in for my flight. Terrible.

Used the app to get all of my documents travel ready. Despite the effort, when requested to check-in on each flight using the app, it said to check-in at the airport counter to get my boarding pass instead. What was the point in all of the work if they just made me go to the counter and show them everything again anyways? What a waste of time!

According to the app, my flight departs in 5 minutes as I write this review. However nobody is boarding the flight yet. Clearly we're not departing on time and I get that you might not know what the new departure time is, but why are you still showing me the clearly inaccurate departure time? Communicate to me that it's inaccurate so I can go get drunk at the airport bar rather than sitting at the gate waiting for something that clearly won't happen.

I wasn't able to search for a flight I booked using a different booking site. I saw the app needed to update and thought that might be the issue. I updated the app, and now I can't sign into my account at all. Hopefully, this issue can be fixed soon as I really enjoy using the app when traveling and usually only fly United.

I haven't been able to log in. I've tried multiple times, but if I enter my email or phone number it asks me to log in with my MileagePlus number. I do that and set up a password, then it takes me back to the first step again. No matter what I enter it asks me to create a password again. I've tried using the app as a guest, but it won't capture my passport. It says "too far" so I inch closer until it says "too close".

I have a united explorer credit card and should be able to get one free bag checked, and I spent about an hour and a half yesterday, the day before my flight, trying to rectify that. And no one could help me,neither reservations, nor Mileage Plus, nor Chase credit card. I was transferred back and forth for about 5 to 6 times.

Lazy design, takes several minutes to load new pages and times out frequently during "required" elements of checking in, like adding a credit card (even when user has no intention of using credit card while on flight). Times out when completing final check-in steps, eventually throwing error message about user being required to check-in at airport due to "inability to complete check-in process", even for domestic flights. Also frequently loses/"forgets" trip info/doesn't save to dashboard.

I'm constantly getting the error that they are unable to retrieve the latest information for my itinerary, making the app very unhelpful and borderline unusable. Also, I will not be flying United again. It's as bad as a budget airline, nickel and diming people, but without the low starting cost. The worst delays I've had have also been with united. 0 stars 😞

Everything's fine until anything gets weird. Delays or cancellations? Good luck making changes. We drove to the airport and spoke with a supervisor long before anyone responded via phone or app. Allow people to actually change their flights in the app. Update app info to show your diverted flight and what options I have for my follow-on flight. Don't charge customers hundreds per seat to rebook, even though you claim I'm eligible for free rebooking. Have functional toilets on your aircraft.

Absolutely worthless. Flight was delayed 8 hours, yet throughout the 8 hours I was getting constant push notifications to go board it now. Then the flight got cancelled and some 10 hours later I'm still getting notified that boarding has started. While this was going on all I wanted to do was get some help with rescheduling the flight and hotel and the app was completely worthless. it doesn't even have an opinion to talk to an agent when things go wrong. Worthless.

I missed a connection due to a health condition, I informed Untied about thi and was told that my return flight would not be affected only to find out on the day of my return that my entered ticket was canceled. United charged me 300,00 dólar to “rebook” my flight. For 3 days prior to my flight I was receiving emails from United telling me that my flight was confirmed. When I called to add an extra bag on the day of my flight I was told that my return flights were canceled because I missed my last connection, when I was told that it wouldn’t be affected due to my health condition. One of their supervisors told me that if I didn’t pay the fee my seats would be sold for somebody else. How are they going to sell something that have already paid for to somebody else? It’s funny how they do everything to take your money but when the fault is on their end it’s ok. If I had known this was going to happen I would have boarded on the flight in the condition that I was at the moment and let them deal with it. United is the worst airline you can ever fly with. They don’t care about their customers and everybody gives different information about the same thing and in the end the customer is the one that gets screwed. Never will never fly with untied again and if I can give you an advice don’t fly with them either.

We set out for our trip to Florida for my brother’s wedding on Thursday, April 7th, for a 3:07 flight from Newark to Ft. Myers. We boarded hours late, un-boarded, boarded again, taxied out and sat there for hours while other planes came and went. We were told by our pilot that our plane could not handle or navigate the “cross winds” that had picked up at our airport. We are not surprised. The plane was like a sardine can with wings without even a plug for your devices. $500/person to fly 2.40 hours on a plane that can’t take off in wind. We taxied back in, unboarded and were dumped back in the airport without ONE uniformed United representative at the gate. The ground crew booked it out of there, heads’ down, and we were all left to figure things out for ourselves, which did not go well for anyone. Families stranded with children falling apart after, at least for our flight, ten hours of being in that airport. It is one thing to have cancelations due to weather. It is another to be so unprepared that you leave your customers without guidance, comfort or help. It was one of the worst customer service experiences we have ever encountered in any and all the traveling we have done over the years. It shakes our faith in United and in the airline industry as a whole. Going forward, we will be much less likely to book trips that require air travel. Oh, and we missed the wedding since we are still here in NJ waiting for a flight three days later.

Continues crashing. So far nothing seems to cause it. Just random crashes at different parts. Very slow load times. My flight was delayed and I missed my connection. United was great about getting vouchers but once you select them you can't find them again. The attendant didn't even know online vouchers were an option.

I arrived to Louisville international 55 mins before my flight. The line was busy and took 20 mins to get to the check in kiosk. When I went to check my bag, the computer said that I had to check my bag at least 45 mins before departure - see attendant. Normally the airlines attendant will work with you and say something like “let me call down and have a baggage person get your bag” or something like that. This United Airlines worker said - “You going to Houston? You’re wayyyy late.” - and I was like, I have over half an hour still? Anyway, ling story short, I’ve tried multiple options and nothing worked. I missed my flight and have to rebook two flights for later today. I feel as if United was not explicit at all with the hard 45 minute cut off. Normally I’m two hours early, but this is Louisville airport… and I’m TSA pre-checked. Has never taken more than a half hour to get to my gate, and all the other airlines have no issue with my check in. Sorely disappointed by United’s app, and customer service. Currently, I never would to fly United again. The way to turn this from a 1 star to a 5 star would be for United to refund my $600 for the flights I had to purchase for later today, and to update their app to be very clear that you have to be a MINIMUM 45 mins before departure, if you’re checking a bag. We’ll see if United notices! I would have arrived at least a half hour earlier, had I known.

Was forced to install this to be able to do early checkin with passport. Took a dozen tries for the third party service to process the picture of the travel document even though this app seemed to have captured all the info correctly. Never mind the security concerns of having the third party store the personal info. After all that it just throws up a note that it cant do the early checkin and to do it at the kiosk. Will probably lose my seat on the plane on top of this dismal user experience.

I have never been able to watch a movie on my device. I've tried on various aircraft, various times of day, various parts of North America, various weather conditions. I've tried every trick the flight attendants suggested. Both my phone and the app versions are up to date. Watching free movies is pretty much the only perk of being wedged into a flying tin can.
