Can't beat Free. They try to trick U into thanking U have to purchase something. But if U just hit the X you don't have to. It says something about a 3-day trial Or two other options that are pay by the month subscription or a year subscription I believe. But U can just X out and it still works. I'm sure there's probably benefits to getting their subscription. But I'd rather just get the little bit that it gives for Free without having to pay. I would if I was more into it.
The main thing I like about this app is the emergency/Breaking notifications from all over the country. Also, when possible you can find the HAM bands in the description of your stream, I thought that was pretty cool for us hams/preps. The audio is good quality, the stream has a small delay, so when you hear a key in it happened 40 seconds to a minute before hand. But that is to be expected when streaming a radio freq on to the web. EDIT Also, the adds are not super intrusive.
This app works pretty well so far as I can tell!! I've only been using it for about a month so far and I really don't have any complaints yet. It seems like a pretty solid app it doesn't freeze up all of the time like the last scanner app I had on my phone did almost every time I used it. sometimes it would work for hours without messing up and then other times it would freeze within the first couple of seconds. Anyway this app hasn't done any of that so so far so good as far as I can tell!!!
Great app works well. Can hear very clearly. Good app. The app continues to work/play when you leave the app. I'm able to go to other apps and play on my phone while still listening to the scanner. I really like that. Also, you don't need to pay to use the app. At the beginning screen, it asks you what package you want to purchase, you can hit the back button, or look for the "x" on the screen, and it takes you off the payment page and to the stations! ITS FREE! only pay if u don't want ads!
pro tip... you dont actually need a subscription to this, AT ALL!!!! My friend taught me that there is a little "X" in the top left corner of the screen which you can press when the app boots up for the first time and requests that you purchase a "service package". The first experience I had with this app, I did the 30 day trial and then was out of scanner data from that point on :( after learning about this tip, I've since re-downloaded it, and enjoy an endless, FREE radio!!!
I do love the app, though the ads can get annoying sometimes, they're not too bad (in my opinion) the main thing that is really annoying to me is that I can have the app closed (not running in the background) and have the notifications off, but it will still pop up a live random feed in my pull down bar and it won't let me close it. The other issue (though I don't know how much control you have over it) is that I was trying to find a scanner for Hardeman County, TN. But there isn't one.
Great app, easy to use, lightweight, organized, and works well when running it in the background. Only bad thing are the annoying ads. I understand it's a source of revenue but at least make them smaller, they fill up almost the entire screen and takes away from the experience. Please just shrink them down. Other than that I love the app, thanks!
I don't like the music that will just start playing. Even if I shut the app down, the music keeps playing. I have to uninstall the app to get the music to stop. It's just the same thing over and over, kinda like being put on hold. It keeps playing when the stations are active. UPDATE: Reinstalled after not having for a while, and no more music playing, now today it started up again. Samsung Galaxy S20 fe 5g.
I'm wondering what I get for paying the $40 for a year that I don't get with the free edition? The ads don't seem to interfere with the scanning function at all. Also, even with premium (paid), it stops scanning all by itself. Sitting there, working fine. Then stops scanning.. 🤷♂️ 🤷♀️ I liked it while it was working... canceling now before my 3 day trial is over. Bummer
I give it two stars because of the number of channels it gives you. However, a lot of the local channels are offline. The ones that are online, and you are able to listen to, will NOT connect. It keeps saying "reconnecting in __ seconds", and will never connect when the timer runs down. Fix the issue of never connecting, and it would be a good app.
They really push you to subscribe. I could buy a scanner from Amazon and program the frequency in and listen for free. They want $39 a yr to listen to their app without ads. With the free version the ads never stop! It loads one ad after the other non-stop sucking up your bandwidth. I also did not find an option to enter a specific frequency into the app to listen to my local dispatch.
Terrible app. It's been successful in connecting about 10% of the time. Most of the time it says "connecting", then it counts down and says "reconnecting", and continued to count down. This goes on and on. I'll use an app that actually lets me hear the police bands. Oh, and while it's trying to connect, it repeatedly shows inappropriate ads. No thanks.
Can only use via paid subscription, no free with ads option. And all the local emergency response units are "offline". It just continously counts down from 30 seconds to "reconnect", but it never does, just resets the counter to 30 seconds and begins countdown again. Then you have to go through the process to canceling the subscription that you never got to use in the first place.
I downloaded the app because another app stopped working. I received 27 notifications from the app in about 15 minutes of using it (none of which were even in my state). I can turn them off, but then I won't get any from my community. I can leave them on, but then I can't use the app because it stops every 31 seconds until I acknowledge each notification. On the plus side, the ads didn't have audio and gave me something to read while listening. But since it's unusable, I uninstalled it.
Use to be a great scanner! Been offline last couple of times I needed to hear what was going on. I uninstalled it. Big fire 1 street over so I installed it again. Low & behold now you halfta' pay for it!!👎 Wow! My notifications said you responded to my review. Don't see one! Only for others. Before the changes were made (?) for many months anytime I turned the scanner on it was always up & running. And free.
Annoying ads, even after payment of the app. This app is totally worthless to me. There isn't coverage for the cities I was looking for, and why is everything offline? I wasn't aware the trial period was only 3 days, and so, I was too late to cancel, and when I contacted the company, they refused my refund. These people must need the money really, really bad.
Disappointed. It clearly states "LIVE RADIO" in description, but after reading the previous reviews I learned the broadcasts are recorded by "voulenteers" with real scanners, and then uploaded to internet. The information you're getting could be hours old. But it's a great app if you're just using for entertainment or curiosity. You just can't rely on it for safety. And the voulenteers must be getting bored and dropping out, as a good 75% of the channels are always Offline.
I downloaded the app and, within the same day, deleted it and canceled the subscription (there was a blurb at the time stating there was a free trial, roughly 3 days or so). Checked my bank account today, and I was charged for a yearly subscription. This was 2 days ago. The app may work fine for some. I was not so lucky, but I was charged a full subscription fee, and the app was literally on my phone for less than a half hour. This is completely unacceptable. Edit: Refunded. No rating change.
It's difficult bypassing all the payment options to get to the 'free' part. Nonstop ads. I wanted to listen to police scanners, not much going on at all, I tried the popular locations. I closed the app and immediately got a notification alert about something happening (not my state). I'm not the least bit interested in receiving notifications, can't find any option to remove that nonsense. Uninstalled
I was told payment was not going through like 4 times. So, I got charged for one month, then got charged for one year. I wanted to evaluate it more before getting the one year term. Can you please fix the problem! Plus, on the first transaction, it titles Google Police Scanner for $10.81. Then, the recent transaction for $43.29 titled in my account Google*Wang Xiaoyu developer from Hong Kong being dealt with in California. I don't think can trust that because before it didn't show in Hong Kong!
