I love my kindle. It makes it really easy to find and read books from my favorite authors and find new authors. I love that it's small and easy to carry around, has features like bookmarks, highlighting, and the ability to make the font bigger and adjust the lighting. And best of all I no longer have to worry with physical bookmarks.
I read several hours every day, and ot started becoming an issue with my budget. Thankfully I found Kindle Unlimited, and can read as much as I please. The monthly subscription is about the cost of 1 or 2 books, so definitely a great value for me. I can start a book on my tablet at home, and continue reading the same book from my phone during my morning commute. I discovered some great authors, and have recommendations from the app for books in my interest. I recommend the app to any reader
I have always been a bookworm but times are tough, I can’t afford to go buy books to read right now, especially considering I can’t reread something I’ve already read. I can’t get into it if I know what’s going to happen, so I definitely can’t afford to spend the amount of money they now cost to only get use one time.. Plus I have “feral kids” (if you know, you KNOW but if not, look it up
I’ve always enjoyed reading, but kindle unlimited has made it so much easier to read while being a stay at home mom to an almost two year old. I LOVE paper books, but I’m ocd about my pages/book getting bent up..
I have a hard time reading visually, so for years I have been using the iPhone's Voice Over (two finger swipe down, once you turn it on in iPhone's Accessibility settings located in General), to read my my Kindle eBooks, but in the past year or so it won't advance to the next page unless you leave the screen on in your pocket, and there are so many things that seem to randomly stop the voiceover from working properly, and sometimes cut out words here and there, and other times it just stops working altogether. I wish this feature worked more seamlessly. Other than that, I also find it harder now than ever before to find my own books that I've already purchased. There used to be an easy section to see all the books you own that are on the cloud, and another section to see all the ones that have been downloaded to your device, ready to read. Now it's really confusing and I have to search for my books. Much less user friendly and it looks like it's an attempt at trying to get you to buy more books. I hope they change this and make it easier or more straight forward to just see your own books, and not force you to look at all the books you don't own yet.
A couple years ago I discovered that people now actually write books I can enjoy, and when I discovered that Kindle has sooo many options, I HAD to get Kindle Unlimited. This app also let's you follow authors, gives you notifications when any of their new books are being released, and gives great suggestions. You can also now purchase books on the app. I just hate the 1-click purchase because I keep accidentally buying books I don't want. I Wish there was a password confirmation atleast.
As an avid reader, I’d like to see more improvements for storing, organizing and finding books in my Kindle library in order to make reading Kindle books more enjoyable. 1) There should be a way to bring the categories into the library so I can filter by category and sub-category. For example: category Mystery; subcategory Police Procedural. I can shop for them this way in the Kindle store, I want to be able to view my library the same way. 2). There needs to be a way to quickly see which books have been read, and which have not. 3) There should be a private section in my kindle library that can't be seen by anyone I hand my phone or tablet to. 4) I'd like a way to easily view a series of books in order. It looks like this is being done, but it doesn’t seem to work. Also, I’d like to be able to easily go to the next book in the series. Currently, when I finish a book, a page comes up showing the title and synopsis of the next book in the series. (Thanks for adding that, it has helped a bit to at least see the title of the next book in order). Ideally though, I’d like to be able to select the next book (if in my library) and be able to open it from there. Instead, I have to search my library. Thanks for considering there suggestions.
Absolutely the best! I can download books to my library and read them from any of my devices, anywhere and anytime. I love having them available because often times we find ourselves in waiting situations we hadn't expected. Reading is a great way to pass the time. I homeschool my child, and having Kindle app helps me to have books readily available to read to my child on subjects we are learning.
Who doesn't love a good book? They take you into worlds that you can only see in your imagination with the help of someone else's words! Thanks to Kindle, the number of worlds you can explore is almost impossible to imagine. New books, and authors, appear every day. With Kindle Unlimited you'll always remain entertained! Kindle's intelligent program learns from your ratings and reviews, so the more you read, the more accurate recommendations it gives as to what you might like.
Kindle App is really easy to use. I especially like the convenience of reading on my phone so I can access my books when I travel without having to take a separate device. I also like being able to track my reading and books read. I do wish the app counted books read in a particular month or year even if I've read them previously. There have also been a few times when the app failed to give credit for reading, the most significant of which ended my 533 day reading streak.
I've used KU for several years now. I'm an avid reader & it keeps me supplied with reading material. Sometimes, I wish they allowed me to checkout more than the 10 allowed! There are that many great books available. If I really love the book, I can go back and buy it afterwards. If I don't enjoy it, I just return it and move on. Simple!
I use this app to read all kinds of books I'm interested in and never find a issue with getting a new book to read or browsing through the app to look for something new to read. I'm giving a 4-star rating because with the old version I'm able to just press the word I don't know how to pronounce & automatically a screen pops up with speaker icon and im able to press & listen to how its pronounced with ease, & can't with the updated version.
I will start by saying I love being able to use this app to read anywhere at any time. Solid collection of books for kindle unlimited. Problem- the function that shows books other customers who have read the title have also read has been erratic for at least a month. This is a big deal to me, because it helps me select my next title. Sometimes it doesn’t load at all, and a spinning circle appears. When the function is working, it only shows the full selection of those recommended titles if it is the first book I have clicked on for info. For all subsequent books, it only shows 3 titles. This is a bummer. I have found that if I close the app entirely, and reopen, I can click a different book and once again, see a full selection of recommendations based on other readers. If I don’t completely close the app out between each book I browse, I am again limited to three suggestions. Mostly, now, I am getting the spinning circle and nothing is loading. Bonus points- when you click to see one of the three kindle chart recommendations at the end of a book’s description, there is now a tab up to that allows the reader to select between top 100, new releases, most wished for, etc. This has broadened the # of selections under a specific topic, which I truly appreciate!
The Kindle app is great. Having used the app for several years I find it tedious to read a hard back book. The one thing I dislike eminsally is the recent change in the method of purchasing Kindle books from the app, which makes it necessary to place the book on a list then leave the app to locate and purchase the book on Amazon. You would think Google and Amazon could resolve whatever differences they have and return to in app purchase !!
This app used to be amazing with whisper sync. Now, it constantly glitches. I have to restart several times to get audio book to load. When it does, it's often back at the beginning of the book, and I have to hunt for where I left off. When it works, it's awesome & autostarts w the car. Mostly, it doesn't work. I have to stop the car, close the app, reopen the app at least 2x (it says book needs to be downloaded again), then find my spot. Generally, I can't stop, so can't listen. Frustrating!!!
I love the app but for some reason it just will not let you click on the "tap to download audible" link. It's basically just text. When you can sometimes get it to work, when you open the app the audible option doesn't always appear. You have to close it out and restart and clear cache and all that stuff. The integration with the audiobook could be better.
I love reading Kindle books along with the audiobook books. The link between Kindle and Audible has been broken for months. I can't see the cost of audiobooks to pair up with Kindle books I own through the app anymore. And half the time when I try to play the audio in the app, I get the "assistive reader" thing instead of the audiobook. It ruins the reading experience.
Kindle app is fun for reading, however it is an Amazon product. You have to be very careful. Over the last few years Amazon has released "updates " for Kindle, Audible, Amazon Music Plus which were not fully tested. Frankly, they've trashed their own apps to a point many of us have considered canceling all Amazon products and services. They can't leave well enough alone. So when you wake up one day and your Kindle app isn't working right, just know you're in for 3-5 days of misery
I love having my books with me wherever I go. I have had the app reset itself a couple of times where I had to re-add my books to my phone. Edit 3/3/2025.- I don't know what they have messed up on the app that has made their audible whisper sync so glitchy. I just bought a book yesterday with the audiobook (because I listen while I'm at work) I went to read it today and it is on chapter 1 saying it has 0 minutes left on the book. This isn’t the only book that has done this with.
I have been using this app for years. I love that you can read or have audio. Lately, however, the audio does not work. It will read a book halfway through & then stop. Often, you can't even get the audio book to start at all. Everytime there is an update, something new goes wrong.
Lots of issues with the new version of the word lookup tool. It makes it more difficult to highlight a word after inspecting its definition and translation. Sometimes the transition gets stuck on the previous word's translation, which is a very confusing experience. The old version was much better, I don't understand why they had to change it.
TTS no longer works. While all the books are still there for me to read, I mostly use the Kindle app to have books read to me while I'm doing other things, like driving or doing some kind of work around the house. I don't know exactly which upgrade broke the Text-to-speech feature, but it hasn't been working for quite some time on my Samsung S23+, and apparently, Amazon is not in a hurry to fix this - despite many complaints online.
I am getting so sick and tired of Kindle deleting my complete library and the books that I save samples of so I can read later. Even the ones that were previously free and I had got them are gone??? WTH!!! This is the 3rd time I have gone through this and it keeps happening. If it does it again I am canceling Kindle and getting a different service. I am tired of messing with it.
App won't stay open. I open the app, and it stays on for maybe a second and then immediately closes before I can see or do anything. I've cleared the cache as suggested. I've un-installed and re-installed it multiple times. I'm frustrated because I can't read all of my downloaded/purchased materials anymore. I just updated the app hoping the glitch was fixed, but it's not. Fix this bug! 🤬
Absolutely terrible as a PDF reader. I spent hours reading a travel guide yesterday and bookmarking pages that I now need access to, but it seems the only way is to page through 600 pages to see which are bookmarked. What an incredible waste of time! And then, when I tried the epub or mobi format (there doesn't seem to be a way to see which it opened), I couldn't zoom in to see anything on the maps—although it did make the text large enough for a single character to take up the whole screen!
Amazon needs to invest in their Reader! Both the android and Microsoft app for the kindle reader are lacking. There needs to be better highlight tools such as underlining and various colors. Also, there are system stability issues. Again, every format of the Kindle reader needs to be modernized. They are all so out of date with presentation and performance abilities of modern software. PC, Mac, android.
the app is great, except the "lease" vs "purchase" issue. If I pay to buy the book, I don't understand the "lease" part, especially after investing about 20k on books over the years. Very horrible on amazons part, but it did make me rediscover Barnes and noble, where if you buy a book on their device, you own it and can read it on any device.
Love kindle, hate the app. I LOVE immersive reading so I always buy the text and the audiobook and it gives me so much trouble! Every time I open the app, I have to close it and force stop the app, then reopen it for the audiobook to show up on the bottom. Changing the audiobook speed is even worse. I have to delete the app and re-download just to change speeds. Every. Time. And highlighting only shows up when it feels like it. I need fixes!
This seems the only way to show how disappointing it is that Amazon is now refusing to allow digital content downloads. I know I'm only a drop in the bucket, but I will no longer purchase any book for Kindle again and my hope, is to avoid with all possibility, purchasing anything through Amazon. When we pay for a product, even a digital one, we should have the right to read in whatever format we choose. This is greed, plain and simple. And it's wrong.
I'm getting sick and tired of Audible and Kindle not syncing right. I have this issue a lot! I was doing immersion reading yesterday. Which is listening to your audio book and following along on the ebook. It was working fine yesterday then there was a Kindle update and boom it's gone. It's out of sync and I don't have the audible function with my ebook at all when I damn well do! I've had this issue for years. Contacting them does nothing. They can't figure it out. Both of my devices!
