I just moved to Florida from Illinois and switched from Comcast Xfinity to Frontier. This app, unlike the Comcast/Xfinity app I had in Illinois, crashes just about every time you scroll down to get to the channel you want. And the streaming quality isn’t that great as it will pause from time to time. I wish Comcast/Xfinity was more popular in Florida so that it would be more available here. Their app was far more superior, quicker, and much easier to use. And their internet service just randomly shuts down from time to time. But the problem is that the two most popular cable/internet companies right now in Florida are Frontier and Spectrum (which I also heard has below average internet quality). And my neighborhood in Tampa is only contracted with those two. If not for this, I would have rejoined Comcast/Xfinity in a heartbeat. Florida natives unfortunately don’t know what a true high quality internet provider is. I wish Comcast/Xfinity would take over here in Florida. I would tell anyone who asks to go with Comcast/Xfinity. They have a far more superior internet and app service.
This review is yea for the app in one light and frustration with Frontier on the other hand. Had bad storms this past week that had us with electricity going off and on several times with all the lightening. Must have blown some equipment because we have tried every fix. Had to go without internet, land line phones and cable TV for 4 days since that was the soonest anyone can come out. Thanks to ATT we can access the app on our iPad and iPhone so we can still see the Dr. Who marathon during breaks from packing. In the process of buying a house and not being able to use WiFi has had challenging moments. This is our 2nd interruption of service for more than 3 days this year!
I would love it if it didn't stop so frequently. Screen goes black and I have to hit the red retry button 3 times and then the program usually restarts. Wish you could fix that. Update 5-4-22: NOW I can't get anything at all. When I try to open, screen message says Frontier TV has stopped. This message has been going on for over two weeks. Change my star rating to zero zero zero....... The app is completely worthless to me.
Used to work great ... now I get a Response Error on the Dashboard. Don't know what that is all about. Also, the Category Filters for TV Listings don't work anymore, if I select any of them (except All) the listings are grayed out. Whatever ... all I really use it for is setting the DVR to record something when I'm not actually watching TV so its all stuff I can live with, but still annoying when something that was working fine is not anymore. Given what other users are complaining about I suppose I should feel blessed.
This is an update review: July 29, 2019 This app. Is much improved, however, it still has plenty of issues. Use to be able to swipe from a channel to the next. Not anymore. It kicks me out of the program. Better at loading speed, but still slower than it should be, The basic app. Is it too bad, it just needs some time going through it. It seems to be neglected on the part of Frontier. It may be a non-issue for me soon. Thinking about getting another carrier. Looking for a much less expensive package with better service. Even Frontier service has been going downhill. Too hard to get issues ironed out. Have two landlines, wireless and TV package. Recently dropped all extras as they were costing way too much. This is my first review: (I think it’s important to see progression of concern by Frontier about 5heir product). Very slow to load. It does not show all of the paid for content. Use to be much better when Verizon had control over the app in my area. Still waiting for the movie to show up on the iPad screen....still waiting.....still waiting....and still waiting....waiting....wait....wa..wwwwwwwwwwww. Snore, snore, snore. Are you proud of this product? I use to wait about 5 seconds before a selected program began. Now it's five or more minutes and seems to be getting worst.
Buggy. Forgets password. Can't sign in. If I do get in it's skittish as you select channel and time. It always starts at the low end of the channel guide and if you want high def you scroll and scroll until you get there as the times gyrate around. This is a horrible app. And I've used it for over a year and have yet to see any of these issues resolved. So frustrating and unnecessarily fussy. And another thing: you can't extend recording time. You have to add programs that follow what you want to watch. And it asks for access to your entire phone, all the docs and pictures. Why? For what purpose? And when there's trouble you are faced with the call in phone tree. Customer service? You gotta be kidding. We exist for them and they could care less. This is copied and pasted from below: This app has access to: Device & app history retrieve running apps read sensitive log data Location approximate location (network-based) Phone read phone status and identity Photos/Media/Files access USB storage filesystem read the contents of your USB storage modify or delete the contents of your USB storage Storage read the contents of your USB storage modify or delete the contents of your USB
I give this app a zero star rating because it won't even work. I've contacted them about the problem numerous times and they do nothing to help. When it was still Verizon I had no problems at all watching tv, setting dvr recordings, etc from my phone and tablet. Now I can't even get this app to open. All I get is Error, we are unable to process your request at this time. Please try again in a few minutes. I'm still upset Verizon sold out to a company with such low technology!!!!
The app keeps crashing, gives error message that there is no internet connection. Puts this notice in middle of screen. If you ignore it you can't watch tv because it blocks most of the screen but it keeps playing the show. If you acknowledge the error it crashes and shuts off and you can not restart for sometime. Have uninstalled and reinstalled still the same problem. Hope they find a fix because to me this is useless.
When it was Verizon I could watch 90% of the channels away from home. Now I can no longer do that. The same channels that were playable away from home with the Verizon Fios app are not playable with the FrontierTV app. How can it be licensing issues if those same channels were playable when it was Verizon. I have read through the reviews here and most of them complain about this same issue and the developers don’t even care to respond to any of the reviewers. It is obviously a known issue and they just don't care, are incompetent or even worse the company won’t provide the tools or resources to fix the issue. Its sad to see such a great product go to waste with such a large company. I guess we shouldn't be surprised, the smoke and mirrors 1:15 reverse stick split failed and the price per share is already back down to what it was before the gimmick was pulled. All it would take now is for the NASDAQ to unlist Frontier and it will officially be a penny stock...smh.
Very frustrating app. I've only been TRYING to use it for a couple of days, but so far, if I try to use any kind of navigation... like the forward or rewind buttons, or the timeline scroll bar at the top, it just locks up. After shuttingalways crashin... just shuts down any t Ike you try to do anyth. I wanted to blame it on my old phone and OLD iPad but both are new now and it’s NOT ANY BTTER. it (the app) down and going through the startup/selection again, it resumes playback well before the spot where it froze, so I have to watch the whole thing over AGAIN. (I can't navigate forward to where I was cut off or it will just freeze again.) It's also frustrating that I have to watch it on the portable devices small screen. I have an HDMI adaptor so I can view things on a larger screen, which works with pretty much everything but this app. June update: Still TRYING to use this P.O.S., but STILL encountering the SAME problems. I KEEP getting bugged to rate it, so here I am again. Unfortunately one star is as low as it goes. On another front, my wireless router no longer puts out enough power to cover my house. I used to be able to log in to the router and adjust the output power but Frontier apparently upgraded the firmware, so I no longer have that option. (And I no longer have usable internet in or around most of the house.)
