This app is the only place to get raw, unfiltered information about what it is like to work in various companies and the orgs within those companies. Most other places where we can find this kind of information has a layer of political correctness on top that makes every company and org look rosy and hides the candid information about what it is really like to work there. Some contributions are a bit rough around the edges. If you’re a snowflake who requires all communication to be politically correct, this app is not for you. Hi Paul, thanks for submitting your review! We're happy to hear that our app can bring candid workplace information to users like yourself.
Interesting app which has great insight inside my company from people who are free to be honest when sometimes inside a company you are forced to lie about how you feel about it. This app is a good outlet for people to be free about what's really going on with them and also have good banter . 4 stars because you can't choose to go all the way down only all the way to the top in the app. Otherwise , great app.
Great App with a lot of the same content posted by different people. Every thread that is opened, folks ask for TC (total comp). Instead, if the app asked for it as an optional item while posting the thread, it would save everyone some time. When you click on a link to an external page, it posts the message 'Unable to access blind network at the moment'. Reddit for example does not do the same.
Very interesting idea and the thought behind it is good, but not actually very well thought through at all. Anonymity is great to spark real conversations, but it is also a breeding place for name calling and very toxic behavior. Once you’re in on your company’s board, you are there forever. Blind does nothing in the way of continued (yearly?) verifications, which means your company group is a good portion of former jilted employees there just to get a rise out of others, rather than participate in constructive conversations. This is probably its biggest flaw. It’s an easy fix, but there doesn’t seem to be any interest in actually facilitating truly constructive conversations as they state. A bunch of culture and engagement buzzwords, but really just a place to breed workplace toxicity. Hi, Thank you for your critique and review. We hope to take the feedback provided in this review to work towards and stronger and more meaningful community moving forwards.
I can't post anything. When I do a dialog box just pops up with a - in it. Tried relogging in and reinstalling it. I also hate how I will literally see the same ad over and over a few posts apart. Edit: developer responded and commenting has been fixed. The repeating ad problem is still here though. I counted 7 of the exact same ad in a row.
Account verification/sign-up is incredibly glitchy. I was able to create an account on my desktop (the verification code took 2 hours to reach my inbox) but the app on the phone keeps asking me to verify. The platform is great (sort of reddit for white collar professionals). But the app is terrible
App is great, but why does it attempt to prevent users with rooted devices from running it? The check is easily circumvented (since user has root) so really it's just a minor annoyance the first time a user with a rooted device attempts to run the app, and certainly not helpful or useful to anyone...? --- Re: Actually, I can still access it from my jailbroken device. Thanks for the link though.
The blind cummunity is great, but their mobile app is very buggy and slow
You can't scroll the page if you accidentally long click over an ad frame. it takes you immediately to the ad... poor engineering
My main problem with the app is that it does not recognize system font settings and there is no way to increase font size, which makes it hard to use, since the app fonts are tiny. I suspect app developersbare under 40, so they do not realize that it may be a problem for grownups. Please make it possible to change font sizes.
I like the idea behind the app, but it has a lot of bugs. It keeps asking for the verification of my work email. I register with my email and password and still it keeps asking for my email. Very frustrating!!! I sent 5 emails to their support team. I received no fix and no answer. They keep telling me to register again.
Keep crashing on my Pixel7 on app launch as of today, not able to use the app.
Too much ads. This is unhealthy
The app lacks some basic things like deeplink support. whenever I click some blind link on browser, it opens within browser and content is restricted because I am logged in on app not browser. Its minimum expectation for it to automatically open in app.
Blind should really try harder to moderate racist and sexist comments on their app. Perhaps highly paid engineers of certain races are just prone to assuming women and Black people don’t deserve to have a seat at their table, but it’s unacceptable on a professional platform. Ultimately, the Blind experience erodes into a minefield of overwhelming toxicity over and over again. Also, I’ve noticed that there’s a lot of “company shaming” on Blind. Depending on the company you work for, you’re either wearing a badge of honor, or a mark for others to point and laugh at. It’s not Blind’s fault that these users are immature. But similar to Airbnb forcing users to post photos of themselves in order to foster transparency and security, the effort has backfired. I sincerely hope they find a way to address these issues in the future. Til then, adios. My mental health deserves better. Hi Girlshaken, We apologize for this exasperating experience. Blind does not condone racism or discrimination in any way shape or form. We ask our users to follow our Community Guidelines and flag posts and comments that violate them. Offenders who post discriminatory or ill-intentioned contents are restricted and may permanently lose access to our platform. Like many other platforms, we have our fair share of negative content. To avoid specific users’ posts and comments, we recommend either unfollowing certain topics or blocking posts from specific users. Once again, we apologize for your experience and we hope you’ll help us in creating a stronger community on our platform. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to email us at [email protected]. Thank you.
Similar to what a lot of others are reporting, think of this as an anonymous mob mentality culture app. It brings out the bad side of people who think cutting down other responses is a way of life. Trolls are in every post. For those that ask genuine salary or culture questions, there may be some good and sound advice, however not without filtering dozens of sarcastic or rude comments to get to helpful info. App features have improved, which is cool to see - 4 stars in that area with some room to improve (I still get random error messages, etc). Points are interesting feature. DM could be good to reach people who have genuine Q&A. However, I can’t give a high rating until the team figures out a better way to reduce/remove trolling and turn this back into a community that can openly discuss items in a more respectful way (even when disagreeing). Hi, Thanks for your review and feedback. We really appreciate your genuine thoughts about our app. We're glad you enjoy our app features, and we'll be sure to take your feedback into consideration as we work towards creating a stronger community on our app. Please don't hesitate to send us further input at [email protected]!
The app crashes continuously. Cleared cache and data same issue. Deleted and downloaded again, same issue.
update: app stopped starting today and I had to delete cache and app storage. they lost my account. I reused my work email and blind somehow lost all my data. it's like it gave me a new account with the same email, and won't recover my real account.
cannot verify work email. it takes forever for the security code to arrive and then the app does not accept it or even have an option to look at it and hide it, it used to be much better, thumbs down
Just another pile of trash. Most of the posts are from deeply unhappy or hateful individuals. There's a lot of racist garbage and no community spirit The new privacy update just seems to sell your data to all kinds of brokers. I tried to decline but it kept popping up till I accidentally accepted.
UPDATE: How many times a week do you need me to confirm the Rejection to cookies?? By now is 3x per week... This is becoming really stupid. From 5 stars to only 1. Since the last 2 weeks you've been spamming us that we have to accept your cookies...I already REJECTED all cookies 2 times and you asked again for the 3rd time in a week.
The current ad to posts ratio is 1:3. Ads take up twice as much space as posts. So at least half your screen at any time is an ad. Ads also take a few seconds to pop in so if you try to click a post, you'll end up clicking an ad. They are literally trying to bait you into clicking an ad to inflate their click through numbers.
I've been a user of this app for over 7 years. At this point it's filled with ads rendering the feed scrolling performance abysmal (even on a Pixel 9 Pro), while it asks me to confirm privacy cookie settings on *each* app open. I've emailed support about the latter issue a few weeks ago, no reply.
I like the concept of the app in bringing together people from different workplaces to ask work-related questions but often times I saw many mean and unhelpful comments to questions that were simply seeking help. Unlike reddit and other chat communities, Blind doesn’t seem to have any enforced rules for trolling and harsh comments. I had this app for about 2 weeks and decided to delete it because I was sick of seeing people post harsh comments and supporting other harsh comments that simply amounts to cyberbullying. Although, this was not always the case, it happened regularly to the point that I saw it in almost every other post. I think having an app that connects people together for asking work related advice anonymously is nice. However, if you were to build a good and truly helpful community, I believe having enforceable rules to prevent cyberbullying and create a supportive environment is absolutely necessary for making the app experience better. Thanks for your feedback! We provide every user with a set of community guidelines and these are meant to be referenced when participating on Blind. Like other social platforms, we have our share of negative content and we offer tools to report/block these. We highly encourage you to flag posts and comments that violate our guidelines. We also encourage you to block users that write content you don't wish to see. All of these users will eventually be reviewed for restrictions. If you have further feedback or suggestions, please email us at [email protected]!
