1) Least favorite part of the app: That it opens up on full brightness to the QR code. Quite jarring, since I normally have it on low brightness. 2) The only exception to the above is when it asks me over and over if I want to turn on notifications. 3) Other than that, I do enjoy that I can scan the QR code at the register and pay right there with my connected Amazon card, and there's no issue displaying the weekly sales at my store. But please, take care of 1 and 2.
When I first downloaded the app, I would've given it a 4.5, but I've had to downgrade over time. The biggest reason is that they've removed the price from most items (recent update), excluding sales. I liked being able to plan my shopping trip and knowing how much I would pay when I went to the store. It also used to be that the app was pretty accurate to what the store carried, but that's gradually become less accurate. Bring back the prices!
I love having this app but have a regular issue when opting to view weekly sales. When selecting "load more" items at the end of the first page, the next page is so large I can only see the first column. What's the point if half of the items are hidden from view! Very frustrating. Happens like every other week or so. 4/16/25 edit to say that I un-installed and reinstalled the app and it's still happening almost every time. I can't see half of the sale items!!
I hadn't updated this until a few months ago and now I find this app pretty annoying. The sales page just looks and ad and isn't laid out a well a before. Being able to make a list is good but with the update they now have 'See Eligible Products' under many items and no option to add it to your list, on the main page or after clicking it. What is the point? Someone did not think that through. Put the 'Add To List' button back on all items!
This app really sucks. You select your store and then once you search for an item and click on it your store is not selected anymore. I like to use these supermarket apps to check prices on things but this app makes it impossible since you have to have a store selected to see the price. Just terrible, and it has been this way for a long time. I just re-downloaded the app after 5 months hoping the issue was resolved and uh, no.
3 THINGS BAD WITH THE APP: 1) No prices in the app anymore for someone without Prime. 2) When things are added to the List, you can't click the item in the List to see the details of the item. 3) The search hourglass is right next to the Location bar so it looks like you should enter your searched item there. However, you gotta hit the hourglass FIRST and THEN it will show the search bar. Waste of time clicking to search items. REALLY REALLY BAAAAAD APP!! Fix it and maybe I'll use it again.
With other stores' apps like King Soopers, Wal-Mart or Target, you can use the app to check product availability and location. With King Soopers app it will not only tell me where a product is located in the store, and how much it costs, but also if the product is gluten free. This app only appears to be able to tell you what's on sale. I can't find an option to search for items. I can make a shopping list, but that's not a feature I would use. Uninstalled.
BUG NOT FIXED AS OF 8/3/25. UNINSTALLED. App has a bug. Latest update & clearing data did not fix. When I open the app, I sign in and choose a store, which shows on the sales page. But when I click on any item on that page, the store changes to "Lamar", wherever that is, and will not change back to my store. PLEASE FIX!! Very poor app designed to irritate customers to the point that they abandon your app....
Doesn't work well. It doesn't show prices on the items I search. There is a glitch that changes the search, also whenever I choose to look at an item in the sales tab then try to go back to the rest of the sales items, it takes me back home and I have to start over. The best food shopping app is definitely HEB. Maybe an app update could help, and maybe it can match the ease and accessibility of the HEBs app... just a suggestion.
The app no longer shows prices? It's show prime sales on the front page and that is it. Disappeara when you click on the item and no any other item you can see a price.... So you can only check if they have the item. And also can't filter beyond the main category of frozen, seafood, produce etc so you have to go through every item to find a popsicles mixed in with all the other from the category. But seriously.... No prices? Useless app. Even the cc link doesn't work at my store. Useless.
This app needs a serious overhaul. I use all kinds of store apps. And this is the worst app that I've ever seen. You can't just type in searching for an item. It's all categories and it's not finding anything I need. I looked up lemon balm tea and I like that. Was kids watermelon lemonade, bubble bath? You really need to look into Other major retail stores and get a clue on what to do and what not to do. I would have an easier time writing the list down on a piece of paper than using your app.
Wanted to start shopping at Whole Foods and this app literally won't let me. I'm unable to add anything to the "list" and if I want to add something to the cart it ports you over to the Amazon app which doesn't allow you to filter foods by specialty?!?! So my entire reason for shopping Whole Foods is because I want more vegan options and I'm not allowed to filter by those options, doesn't make a ton of sense. And when you are able to filter, you cannot add to a list, much less a cart.
Useless - nearly. The website is much better, easier to navigate, search products, everything. BUT, if you want to get your Amazon Prime discount, you absolutely must use the app. Certainly immoral if not illegal. Recommendation: download the app, log in and link your phone number to your account, then delete the app. Now you can enter your phone number at the register for your discount - but you absolutely can't do the number linking through the website and they can't do it for you in store.
I can't give 0 stars. The feedback they gave to my review is less than helpful. The link does not have a place to report issues with the app. It only offers a phone number, when this is the low urgency issue ideal for written comms. 5/31/24: It is no longer possible to "select a store" which means you can't see prices, which means you can't compare prices while in another store, which means you might as well buy stuff there rather than at Whole Foods. 6/19/21: [Other issues deleted for space.]
