I’ve only had this app for a few days and still learning more about it. So far, I am happy with the set up. Staffing for 100 employees can be a difficult task when you doing it by pen and paper. Looking forward in using this program and simplifying life itself! I have not tried this program in a desktop, if there is an answer out please let it be known. Is there a way to repeat employees to a shift, instead of adding them every week? Is there a way to restrict employees from making a shift available within so much time? Is there a way an employee can be reminded no one accepted his shift when it’s made available within so much time before his shift starts? This would be great options that would make the program better and empower the program administrator.

I’ve used a few different scheduling apps and this one is my favorite because it is so simple and straightforward. Employees can set and update their (un)availability and request time off. The app notifies you when you’re assigning shifts if there’s a scheduling conflict with any time off requests or certain unavailable times. It also notifies the employee before the shift in case they forgot they had to work. Employees can swap shifts easily. Management is informed of all schedule changes because they have to be approved first by a manager in the app. Finally , Employees can use the messenger feature to communicate without resorting to the obnoxious old group text.
The app is simple to use and the design is aesthetically pleasing, making it easy to see your shifts. However, there are a couple things that need fixed. Most notably broken is the widget; it simply displays, “We couldn’t find your shifts. Are you logged in the Sling app?”. This function worked previously on my iPhone 6 running iOS 9.3.3, but has never worked on my iPhone XS running iOS 12.0.1. This was the main way I checked my shifts, and it made it so much easier. I don’t know if the app version was different, or if there is just an unknown compatibility issue where the widget feature only works on some versions of iOS. Lastly, as mentioned by another reviewer, the notifications are inconsistent at best, and completely missing or useless at worst. Most of the time I forget I have it set to remind me of my upcoming shift, because it either doesn’t push a notification, or it notifies me when my shift is starting in under 5 minutes. While this has never caused me to be late to work (as it isn’t my primary method of time management and ultimately one should be responsible for themself in regards to getting to work), it would be nice to have peace of mind knowing you have a reliable backup alert. Overall, I enjoy using the Sling app to view and manage my shifts, and I hope to see improvements soon. Thank you for your feedback! We are aware of the issue with the widget and we will try to fix it as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. We will also check what's going on with shifts alarms
I like it but it stopped sending me push notifications about when my next shift is. I liked the notifications that popped up on my phone to remind me where I'm supposed to be as I have 3 jobs right now. It says in the settings that it's on for the push notifications but it's not seeming to work.
I think the app is very useful and easy, but it keeps on randomly shutting off notifications and then I miss a bunch of info from work! I have to uninstall and reinstall regularly to get notifications back. I set up the backup of sending me email notifications, but even then I will miss messages for a few hours at a time. Super annoying.
Sometimes it takes way too long for a schedule to load that I have to reset the app. The notification system is a joke. It gives you an option to receive notifications at set times. For example, you can make it so it reminds you that your shift starts in an hour or 30 minutes. But it doesn't matter because it sends the notifications whenever, it's never consistent. The recent one I received was 42 minute notification before the shift instead of it being an hour before.
The messaging on this app is atrocious. When typing a long message, the app slows down to a crawl and eventually freezes, forcing you to restart and type all over again. When trying to send a picture, there's a high chance the app will just close. And the notifications show up whenever they want. I've had people message me, only for me to read it a day later because the app never sent me a notification. I've had to give my coworkers my phone number if they actually want to reach me.
Very glitchy app doesn't always send notifications and sometimes not even an email. Seems to be a massive problem on android phones works well for a few weeks and then notifications become intermittent if any at all. It has an impact as have lost shifts for work when they become available as haven't been notified in good time and someone else has taken.
💥💥USE 7-SHIFTS INSTEAD💥💥 I have an android and this app is absolute trash. My notifications show up when my actual phone notifies me but I open the app and they are nowhere to be found. Secondly, I wanted to put a shift up for grabs and the "..." feature in the upper right hand corner was simply not there. Even my boss was like, oh, weird. Thirdly, the platform in general is not easy to navigate through. Yeah, uh, just don't 🤣
It works, assuming I close and reset it several times a day. Otherwise it doesn't show messages, goes into infinite load screens, or won't send messages to others. It took me almost three months of fighting before I could finally get it to change my profile picture. It's a very frustrating app most of the time but when it works, it's useful.
App is terrible for Andriod users. I have had to uninstall and reinstall multiply times because I just do not get notifications at all. It is fairly quick with picking up shifts, dropping shifts, and all that but the delay for notifications is insane. I either get a notification 30-45 min AFTER whatever happened has happened or (regualarly) I just don't get one at all. I have contacted support about this issue and they just remind me to make sure that ush notifications are enabled (They ARE)
Very broken app. As an admin, along with two other people, they receive notifications, and I don't. It would be nice if the settings actually worked since I do all of the scheduling. Trying to respond to employees through messages is a pain because typing bugs out all the time. If you send emails asking questions, they never respond but the company bugs you often to pay for yearly subscriptions.
Glitchy and hard to use. Once signed onto the app, it does not allow you to use other apps on your phone unless you force it shut. I also tried to download the app to my computer, but even though I clicked on the "download to other devices" tab, it still will not allow this to happen. Just started using this app for my new job and have already found it annoying and cumbersome at best.
When you spend more time getting tech support to try to make the app operational than actually being productive with it, it’s a garbage app. If this app were a phone and every time you tried to make a call but needed to go to the store to have them fix it, then every time people tried to call you but couldn’t so you have to go to the store to have them fix it, then sending a message……. (You get the idea), you’d get rid of the phone because it doesn’t work. This is what this app is like. It only works while you call tech support every three or four days. My boss likes just one function of offers and that’s the “hour notice”. Who cares?! The employees should know their shift already. But my boss keeps hanging onto the app saying “it works! We just need to keep calling tech support”… that means it’s NOT working! They should have worked out the bugs before releasing the app. It’s free but don’t waste your time with this app. It’s more frustration than a help. Chose another app. You’ll thank me later.
Edited: decreased from 3 to 1 star. Getting notifications continues to be a problem randomly, despite having it set for notifications. We use Sling for scheduling our employees. It works well *most* of the time but when it doesn't, it really doesn't. We have had MANY instances where Sling stops working without notice, or it will reset everyone's settings or notifications randomly after updates. Our employees rely heavily on these, and it's a pretty epic fail every time these are reset
I've had it for 4 years because my job uses the app and I don't think it's been updated in that time. The same bugs persist and the app randomly stops working in the middle of messaging so you have to close the app and then retype your message hoping it will go through. It even affects my phone performance, after I close the app my phone lags for about 10 seconds. No other app does that.
Had the app maybe 6 months now and at first it was fine but now it won't let me upload any form of photo in newfeed it says "socket closed" after loading for a while...all the other managers and people can post photos regularly so it's very frustrating being one of the main manager and not being able to do that! Update: it's gotten worse now I can't see anyone's scheduled shifts under the full staff I have to Uninstal it and start over to get it to even load through Wed. Still can't post pics
Find something that's not broken. I genuinely cannot stand this app and it's web version. It never registers my clock in/outs on time, I get messages on an INSANE delay, and I never get notifications on time. Then, on the browser, it constantly deletes my messages WHILE IM TYPING which is infuriating. File sharing is atrocious. Just find something else.
I get notifications sometimes and sometimes I don't. I've missed communication, it's almost flip a coin, 50% avg unnoticed.I've allowed permissions fully on my phone for the app and I've set on the app, notifications everything, still I miss almost half messages, no notifying on many of them, even when I have the app actively running. So if something is timely, I only see it when I bring the app to my screen. If it was impt, I didn't see it unless I hunt thru all that I didn't get notified of.
I've had this app for about 2 years now and it's incredibly laggy and has a nasty delay om notifications. I've struggled to communicate in a timely manner due to not receiving a notification of a message for upwards of 15 mins after it was originally sent. I would not recommend this app for large scale communication. Lots of crashes and has even started signing me out multiple times in a day. Not worth the hassle for the fairly limited scheduling capabilities.
It's great for scheduling and communicating, but it's hard to do so when I don't get notified of most of the messages I receive. I've updated, turned on my notifications AND have it notify my email, but I get neither. I have an Android, I guess it's more of a problem for Androids. Maybe enough reviews will get the notifications fixed for us, it's really starting to get annoying.
Hit or miss. Mostly miss On Android it's just a nightmare. The code is extremely temperamental. One update works okay. The next one, you can't upload images. Then they fix that and you don't get notifications anymore. Then it kept signing us out randomly all the time. I've had it for about a month and it is broken more often than it works. Currently I can't attach photos again which is very important for my job. Works fantastic on Apple devices. So if that's an option for you do that.
Works great for scheduling. But for some reason they can't make an update that is compatible with android devices. It's one thing after another. The biggest issues is the fact that notifications DON'T WORK. Like at all. But the scheduling part of it is great. Everything else needs help ASAP. it's been like 9 months and notifications still don't work. I have to uninstall and reinstall app every week to get notifications
