EDIT: initially gave 1 star but updated to 5. After my first review , customer service reached out to me to inquire about the problems I had. They looked into my orders and turns out the merchant was trying to charge more than what was shown on my end which is why my transaction would not go through. Tried to order aging with a higher amount and worked smoothly. Customer service was great and I appreciate them reaching out .
I found Sezzle while shopping online and decided to try it. A lot better than Klarna so far! I was given $250 spending power on sign up, bought what I wanted and have made payments on time. I had a great experience with the first order so I made a second one yesterday and expect it to be the same smooth process. Certain things are locked behind a subscription, but I'm not so interested in those things. You're not forced to pay for it or engage in any other service they have. Very nice
Quiick, efficient, easy... just wish they would up my spending power like it was in the beginning started out with $1,000 and ended up at 100 and I have yet to (not make a payment, let alone make a payment at all), since I haven't spent yet, & that's only because I haven't quite found exactly what it is I'm looking for! But their app is amazing, esp compared to some of these other ones, let me tell you 🤣!
Sezzle's been a lifesaver for my budget, especially when other BNPL apps weren't cutting it. With Sezzle anywhere, I can use Google Pay at any store and finally afford those things I've been wanting! It's super convenient, and I've used it for tools, groceries, electronics, and even my insurance when I was strapped for cash. The more you pay, the higher your limit gets, so thanks, Sezzle!
I enjoy the app and find it easy to use to split payments. I have the premium service and it was worth it, but now making a purchase request before checking out is really inconvenient. Update 10/21... New added fee per transaction for using your card for payments 🤦ðŸ½â€â™€ï¸. Overall still love the app, but I feel like the fees are getting out of control
Edit: Had reviewed based on being unable to make payments with debit any longer. Found a way to do it, where I have to add balance to my account using debit, and now it's giving me the debit option again for some (not all) early payments, so I don't have to use the prepaid balance to make the payments after I've already put the money for the payments into the balance. This is frustrating. Do better.
So I've had no issues with placing orders through Sezzle thus far. My only issue is that there are two separate subscription charges. You pay $12.99 for Sezzle Premium, which gives you a wider selection of retailers to order from, but then will have to pay an additional $17.99 for Sezzle Premium, which let's you shop anywhere. There are other small perks both subscriptions offer, but that's still $31/month not including your installments fees.
I don't know man. Really not an app issue but more like their practices. They give you spending power and take it away a couple days later. You're on time with payments so no reason to take it away. So, basically it's not a service you can trust or count on. Lol. Weird. I'll give it more time but I'm thinking of using something else because none of the others do it like this. 😳
it was great until...sezzle balance. so now you have to load your balance in order to pay your bill or purchase things. they say it's to make using your money easier but it's just a money grab. you have to load $30 or more and there is a $4.99 fee for this. your sezzle balance can not be refunded and if you are inactive for too long, they will TAKE $5 from your sezzle balance. AFFIRM, AFTERPAY, ZIP...all viable options. deleting now.
I was happy to use sezzle, and how it allowed you to make purchases in payments. I then started to see my payments get deducted, and they were not the price they have you agree with. There are hidden fees that apparently they just charge you, and you have no control over, since you agreed to the payments prior. Do not use sezzle, unless you are okay with paying whatever hidden fess they want to add on to the agreed price. I will never use sezzle again! I would rate a 0 if I could!
Sezzle is a fee trap made to screw you. Automatic payments (which must be connected to a checking account) take 4 days to process. This means by the time the payment is processed or if it fails (which they don't notify you until after 4 days), the payment is now 1-4 days late so you have to pay an additional $6-$30 late fees on top of your original payment. The only way to avoid this is to pay manually with a debit card, which they charge a tack on debit card fee in order to do.
Don't let them bait you with their sezzle spend offers! It's a SCAM! when I contacted them to get a sezzle spend credit I was supposed to have, they replied right away and added it to my account. I followed the procedure, paid their fee for a single use card and placed my order. It all seemed fine (if vaguely sketchy) until the payment was rejected for half my order and I narrowly avoided the full price (no credit for the spend) being charged to another payment. Response after review was useless
It's A Scam App. I thought this was going to be similar to Klarna or Afterpay. Nope. It's a monthly subscription service that allegedly gives you "spending power" to split your payments into 4 two week chunks. It sounds similar but you have to buy one of two monthly subscription plans to access this feature PLUS pay a finance charge on the split payments. If you need this kind of service/app you might be better off saving your money for a secured credit card.
The customer service is horrible along with fees. I had a failed payment due to the card being locked because of identity theft. Within minutes of receiving a notification of the payment failing. I made a manual payment. The fee was supposed to be a fee the bank charges, but the bank didn't charge a fee. This app came in handy when I needed it, but will I ever recommend it to anyone else or use it again. That is an absolute NO! Check out all of the complaints on the BBB website.
Very shady app. Has a lot of hidden fees. I was charged a "failed payment fee" of $6.95 even though I made the payment on time and yes, there was money on my account that I paid with. I never have any of these problems with Affirm, Klarna or any of the other similar apps. Needless to say, I won't be using Sezzle anymore. If you do happen to use it, beware of the extra fees they sneak in.
Never missed a payment, paid for the premium subscription to use their card anywhere, spending power was at over $1500 and all of a sudden it dropped to $250. Called customer support and they have no answer as to what affects spending power. Garbage, money grabbing app. Don't waste your time, use real credit. They won't get another penny from me.
Beware! Huge con!!! I paid for the monthly subscription fee, thinking the reason I couldn't get approval to purchase anything was that I hadn't subscribed. 12.99 for the membership. I again tried to place several orders. 5 declined orders, all within my spending limit. I tried 1 small order, which didn't qualify for the "payments" option. It went straight through. B/c it processed as a full payment, just through Sezzle.They're basically lying to gain access to your accounts, payment methods,etc
They removed the ability to manually make payments with a debit card. But they'll let you use sezzle wallet for that! The wallet that has a minimum $30 deposit requirement AND charges you a fee to use on top of the fee you pay at purchasing. This app went from a useful, convenient way to buy things and help you out to an absolute cash grab. Pathetic. I'll be uninstalling once my last purchase is paid off.
Sigh. I want to love Sezzle, because it's a great way to not use real credit - but the due dates are confusing. What the app says and the actual due date are apparently 2 different things. They charge you earlier than you expect, and then they charge you late fees. And no, they won't waive these fees, even if you're a great customer and a member of their $18/month premium thing. 1 star for the app because it is not accurate and 1 star for customer service. 5 stars for the payment plans.
Everything is premium which incurs an additional fee. Spending power changes based on store, not sure this will work for me. *Edit: Can we give less than one star? now this app is just a money grab. they claim to give you credit, but it's not actually usable. can't pay with card, just an account reload-which is a higher requirement than what I owe, PLUS fees?? Got to be illegal.
