What an amazing app for those with your own content. Even just to load up family photos to share with relatives. The support community is incredible for helping you set up as well. I had no problems setting things up for home use but the remote connection can be a little tricky. All the problems I had were through my AT&T router (port forwarding) but I have it up and running great! I'm having a hard time finding any faults..

For a long time, I couldn't find fault with this media app. It looks amazing and is extremely flexible and scalable. I use it at home on a Mac as the server and am able to run an Apple TV with its beautiful interface. My most irritating pair of bugs is with the iOS (iPadOS) app. When I'm watching content on my iPad, subtitles are shown when they shouldn't be. They show up as OFF in the settings, but they're most definitely on. The only way to get them to go away is to turn them on, then turn them off again. HOWEVER, after turning them on, the timing for tapping the required menu to turn them off again is very important, because there can be no subtitles present on the screen when the video is paused to turn subtitles off or that subtitle will be present at the bottom of the screen for the rest of the video, or until this whole maneuver is attempted again. Very distracting and an irritating bug to say the least. Most shows have a minute or two of recaps, so it's pretty much all nonstop dialogue (subtitles). This all being said, the Plex team has created an AMAZING media environment for the user. This level of quality is what every media company should aim for. I'm sure once the folks at Plex discover this bug, they'll be able to squash it in short order. Thank you for letting us know about your troubles. Unfortunately, we were not able to reproduce the issue. Would you mind filing it in the forums https://forums.plex.tv/ with the following information to help us debug it. - logs https://support.plex.tv/articles/212639598-apple-tv-logs/ (Apple TV) - logs https://support.plex.tv/articles/201636593-ios-logs/ (iOS) - app version - device version

I love Plex for it’s beautiful organization and easy to use interface. Having almost all my media in one place has always been the dream and Plex has done that for me (for about 80% - still missing native audiobook support and support for eBooks). Having full control of my own personal media cloud and server has been incredible. The movie and show ratings from Rotten Tomato are awesome and being able to watch a trailer of something is convenient if someone wants a quick synopsis. I love being able to put all our childhood videos converted from VHS on my own cloud and give access to my family to see any of the embarrassing and amazing home videos anytime. ***DEVS: Would love to see a audio only version for Apple Watch for streaming or offline usage to listen to podcasts, music, audiobooks - Audible does this now which has been amazing. Being able to listen to Plex media with only a watch and bluetooth headphones would be a game changer. Also native audiobook support and support for eBooks would basically round out any media needs I could possible want to have in one app! Love what the Plex teams does and always looking to see what they’ve recently added. More than happy to be a part of the Plex Pass Lifetime member. Keep up the amazing work!

I have been a PlexPass member for years now and I couldn’t be happier. However, lately playback has been terrible. For example, if I shuffle anything a CD, a playlist, my library whatever I get this weird issue where two songs will just start playing at once. To fix it I usually have to stop the track(s) and either skip back a track or skip forward. Then one of the two songs will play properly. In addition, sometimes when I go to play a song in a playlist or CD (anything with multiple tracks) sometimes the track will not play. It will instead skip right to the next song and no matter what I do it will not play. The track is fine though because I can play it by accessing the file directly (not through Plex). Lastly, ever since this offline browsing thing was introduced it has been glitchy. If I want to access my files on my server I usually have to toggle it on and off a few times before my library will show up. It works the same for if I want to access tracks synced on my phone too. Love the thought of being able to toggle, but has to be a better way. What ever happened to just clicking in the upper left corner?

Perfect for my own server. Not sure why so many are complaining since I haven't had a single issue with the app on mobile or on my roku tv. I created my own server, linked it to my tv, done. Everything is organized, plays perfectly, nothing is cluttered, and I can add friends if I wanted to. (UPDATE 9/29/22) The only issue I seem to find is the download feature for Plex is horrible. Episodes and movies never download fully without getting a error. Doesn't matter if I'm on mobile or wifi.

I usually don't leave feedback regarding updates, but I must in this case... I'm a big fan of Plex, and mainly use it on Roku and IPad. I am extremely disappointed that the watch later feature was discontinued recently AGAIN which I used everyday! It was helpful to browse tv plugins on the iPad and add episodes to watch later......to then watch later on the roku....since the roku has NEVER had this feature since Plex was born. Please bring back the watch later feature asap, and please add this feature to Roku too! Also, I am happy with the new podcasts feature but would love a listen later feature for that too! I do not like the webisodes feature and don’t care to see it but there is no way to remove it? Still need tweaking with customization options. Plex is fantastic overall, but I'm giving 3 stars this time, because an update should not keep subtracting from the user enjoyment. Common sense says make things more user customizable, so people can choose what they want to keep and get rid of what they don’t want to see....and with as few clicks as possible too! Please fix what is lacking now, but once was there to enjoy.....for the 2nd time!!!

New update is... different. Which i can excuse. But chromecast streaming is broken. Doesn't work 95% of the time. (Works fine for other apps and occasionally works for Plex so it isn't a network issue. But I want to watch something... not spend hours restarting devices hoping it randonly works again.) Downgraded to 10.26.0.2578 and problems went away.

The Downloads Feature will Not Work and I cannot find support. I have purchased the life time plex pass and generally speaking, when I stream content it is very good. I only run into issues when trying to download content to prepare for offline situations. This is a must have feature but I cannot seem to get it to work. The downloads fail immediately when I try them. Plex offers no direct technical support other than a forum which is very frustrating when your issue is not shown.

Recent app update has introduced menu options for things like On-Demand, Live TV, and Discover.... None of these options can be disabled or hidden. Not great when you're trying to ensure children only have access to the content that you've vetted. Not to mention, I don't want to use those options myself. Update: previous issue with server access has been resolved.

I do not care about Live TV, On Demand, or Discover. I use Plex ONLY to watch my personal movie and TV library. I paid for a lifetime Plex Pass so I could support Plex without all the extra garbage. At the very least, Plex Pass users should be able to disable the Live TV, On Demand, and Discover buttons on the navigation bar. Also give me the ability to separate my movies & TV shows! This new layout is horrific.

New app has outright broken functionality and is a massive step down in reliability and features from the old one. No ability to automatically download latest X number of unwatched shows. No details when looking at anything in the "what's on later" for live TV. No ability to filter media by rating. The progress bar doesn't work for downloaded content. Downloaded content doesn't play when available, it attempts to stream first, and you have to go into downloads to find it. And on and on.

I have always had trouble with the iOS versions of this app, even though I’m only connecting to a local server. The app on my Roku has no difficulty connecting to the same server. It is extremely frustrating. I am now completely unable to connect to the server from my iPad, despite having tried logging out and back into the app, logging out and using a wait list of local network connection, deleting the app and re-downloading it, deleting all three instances of the iPad app from my list of allowed devices in my account, etc. For some inexplicable reason, my Plex account has now decided that my iPad app is also a server, so some of the other client apps now list two entries for my iPad as servers. Also, when my home Internet isn’t working and I can’t go online, even though my Plex server is on the same local network/router as Plex app on my phone, iPad, and TV, none of them are able to access the server. They all say that the server is unavailable. My SMB file sharing on the same Mac at the Plex server works fine, so it’s not a problem with my local network. I would think that playing files in Plex over the local network would not be affected by an Internet outage… I’ve had so many problems with the iOS apps that I don’t see how the people at Plex hope to entice me to purchase a subscription when I can’t even really use the features that a subscription affords. The app is nice when it works, but far too often it doesn’t really work.

More ads that most free streaming services. I calculated 18 minutes of adds during an 140 minute film, not including the long waits as certain ads (Jenny Craig, Anderson Windows) repeatedly took exceptionally long to load. Even worse is there seems to be no algorithm or any sense used to determine when an ad break occurs - including smack in the middle of the climactic battle scenes. Still get 2 stars because it is functional and other than the ads, the movie itself did not have playback issues

I love Plex, but this app is atrocious. I've been using Plex for quite a long time now, and for what it is I love it. I bought the lifetime pass some time ago. One of the things that lifetime pass allows you to do is download versions of your video for on the go. 1 problem though, you can't. It doesn't work, there's constant errors, stoppages, or it says it's downloaded but it isn't? I can't figure it out, it doesn't work. For something advertised as included in a paid version, you should probab

This app allows me to connect to my home media server and access my movies and tv shows in high quality from anywhere. There have been zero issues with the app, there is a learning curve to get everything setup but plenty of resources to figure it out. Update: well now I can only access my own content on my phone if I pay for it. update 2: now they updated the U.I. of the app, I can no longer make Playlists it's a pain to scroll through since you can't quickly jump to a specific letter.

Edit: In addition to the original issues that still stand, the app (and browser) now fail to find any results when using the search function. The app fails to respond to media controls over bluetooth (both software and hardware), and often fails to properly display playtime and/or ID3 tags through the same connection. Could also use the ability to show all songs from all albums after selecting an artist, rather than having to constantly go in and out of each album.

The Android TV app, in particular, is nearly unusable. Navigating through content? Not without stuttering. Want to watch an episode? Not without backing out several times to try to convince it to connect. Change playback settings? Not without a crash or three. Casting won't work without much coaxing, and the cherry on top is when it boots me back to a show's episode list within ten minutes of the end of the episode.

I've been a user of Plex for the last ten years, and the company has been forcing bad change after bad change for the past several years. With the recent removal of music and pictures from Plex and charging for non-local access to my own content, I can no longer recommend Plex over other options. This was such a a good service, once. It is such a a shame to see what it turned into.

A year ago it ran like a dream. Now it's laggy and disconnects a lot. Going backwards with each upgrade. Edit: from 2 starts down to 1. Just utter dross. Rare for it to work without needing multiple force stops and usually crashes part way through content. Sort it out! Edit: after the recent upgrade, it keeps asking me to pay for services I've paid for in the past and won't let me continue. Dreadful.

The new app is terrible. They put a nice new skin on it, but it barely functions. constantly disconnecting from the server. stops midstream frequently for who knows what reason. can't download files without half of them breaking. I defended them when they upped their prices. hell I even doubled down and bought the lifetime subscription and I couldn't be more dissatisfied

As of the most recent update, I can no longer find any options for managing invites to my server or manage which libraries others have access to and have to use an entirely separate application (that also isn't very good) to see what activity is happening in with my server. What prompted such a backwards decision I couldn't possibly fathom.

I have used plex for almost 10 years, and the latest update has killed the app. It doesn't open after profile selection, it just spins and spins. I have tried it on my phone (Note10+) and my wife's (Note10+) and it is thr same on both. The app for my Amazon Fire tablet works fine. but this version doesn't do anything. I am deeply disappointed.

WOW, am I ever tired of the ads! Every time I have to leave the app to send a text or anything, I come back and am IMMEDIATELY given an ad that's minimum of 150 seconds. Every time. Doesn't matter if I just had a 150 second ad, if I leave the app a minute later, when I come back, I'm given another 150 second ad. And sometimes it restarts my episode when I open the app again.

Latest Android version has removed Music from available libraries - completely unacceptable. I can still play my music on Plexamp, sure, but now those who I have shared my library with won't be able to access my music without using Plexamp - which, incidentally, is subscription-based for those who don't have Plex Pass. What a racket. Rough to see how far Plex has fallen from its original glory.

The ad said this was a free streaming app and that there was no subscription required to watch your favorite movies and TV shows. Yeah, they were telling the truth, but if you don't have a current subscription with Disney+ or other services, you can't watch anything on this app. This app is pretty much useless because if you have a subscription with any other app, you don't need Plex. I would rate the app five stars if they actually had the movies and shows and forced you to watch ads.

What even happened?! I'd give it zero if I could. It was a solid five before May. The new app removed all the features worth having for some reason. They used to have a button for "Download Next X Unwatched Episodes" and then it would keep X number downloaded as you watched the show. That's gone and replaced with "Download the entire season". They don't even remove the watched episodes automatically like before. They split the music and audiobooks into its own equally bad app as well.

every time you pause and hit play, it crashes. if you put it as a PIP on top of other apps and open it back up, all of the controls go away. most of the time when you select any movie or show, it will say not found and you have to go back and try again. the option to have the resolution "convert automatically" was removed. it was buggy before, but now it's near unusable unless you never, ever hit pause or rewind. Just hit go on a playlist and never stop.

This app used to be awesome on my phone. Now I can't view my photos through it and I had to download plex photos as well. My personal videos are also messed up now. When I'm searching through them, it takes a long time to load. When I actually try and play a home video, it is stretched out and rotated the wrong way. I've tried to mess with the play back settings with no luck. Please change it back!

Who at Plex thought it was a good idea to refresh the app without feature parity with the old version? Navigation is confusing, there isn't a sense of hierarchy. I can't seem to be able to create or edit playlists. Pinching the screen no longer zooms in on a video so I can cut off extra black bars. Why on earth didn't they wait until they had more features before going live? my review was 5 stars, now it's 1. this is a step backwards for Plex, not forwards.

For a platform as mature as Plex, you'd expect them to at least put out something that performs better than an early alpha build. Sure, the new refresh LOOKS good. but what's the point if it's not even usable? INCREDIBLY slow, can't play anything without constant stuttering and freezing, features removed. This was not ready for primetime, and the Plex team should revert all changes until they can get their act together.
