several phones ago, I realized it had become the norm to exclude a music player pre installed. I download all my songs, and needed something so I could play them properly and make playlists. I've stuck with this one because it has no ads, doesn't charge you premium for basic features (not even sure it has a premium version tbh), and you can edit your music files if they're wrong. had several albums out of order for years- not anymore! genuinely can't recommend enough

Soooo fluid. No ads. Well organized, searchable, stable, intuitive. The best music player I've found, by far. I highly recommend it, I use it all the time, it's awesome. I would appreciate the ability to customize the file names of the album art used. Oto does not load the embedded album art probably because it's using a name Oto isn't expecting... Somewhat negated using Oto's built in album art but some notable CDs (Beatles) still get no art. If I could tell Oto what to look for it would fix!

Great music player app with ALMOST perfection! A few concerning issues I noticed are: 1, The mini player will have a random gap underneath while playing when locking & unlocking phone (occasionally happens). 2, Also if the sorting could be improved, when sorting by artist, should also show album songs together (in song list) too. 3, M4A files seem to be an issue when editing most times, resulting to not saving any changes at all or corrupting file, so use MP3 files if can

Love this app. Love that there is no adds. Does not glitch, super smooth animations. Just some recomendations. for the accent colors, instead of just a few colors, there should be a color wheel so that each person has the option to select whatever color in whatever shade they prefer. also, maybe on the now playing; it'd be nice to see the album art just slightly lower on the page and compact the toggles a little closer together.

I beg you to change the way the lyrics are displayed. Like a normal player, click on the album picture to display the complete lyrics, slide the lyrics and click on the specific icon to change the progress. Why not choose this solution? I think it will be easier to use this way. Of course, the app now is very good, thank you very much for the author!! It's the best local player I have ever met, and it's even free!!

It's been the best player I've used in all my years with android. I've use poweramp, player pro, black player, all the big names but they've all seemed to fallen in recent years. Oto is simple but it works and that's the most important thing with a music player. It needs to work and it does that better than just about every other player I've used.

Such a great app! I'd like to see an album-favoriting feature, but otherwise I'm very happy with the feature set. It's lean and fast but has plenty of basic customization options. The only issue I've had is playlist rarely, randomly getting emptied. I believe this has coincided with updating the app, but I'm not sure. I keep playlist backups and usually play albums anyway, but that has been one papercut in the past. Thanks for the best form+function Android mp3 player!

Absolute FAVORITE music player! I dropped Spotify a few months ago after I lost my student discount and have been looking for an app as pretty as Spotify with some of the same features (like swiping to skip/restart songs and hide the menu). The only thing I want changed is how songs appear that start with An, The, or A (articles). In other players, it overlooks the article when alphabetizing, so "The Love Song" or "A Love Song" would be under the letter L instead of T or A, but in Oto, no.

As a Poweramp and AIMP fan I was delightfully surprised by this app. It has a simply beautiful elegant interface. Great equalizer for only 5 bands also a very nice surround sound effect. Really good sound quality with no distortion! Also on the plus side it finds and displays the album art for each song. A lot of music players out there don't do that. You guys might think of adding a 10 band equalizer, that would be a real Plus. Guys this is a rock-solid music player!!

Best music player I've tried by far. It looks modern and clean without sacrificing any functionality, it doesn't have any adds, it supports whatever formats I throw at it, it has rounded UI elements, and uses material design. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't support Subsonic or Ampache streaming. So I can't stream music from my personal music server.

I once had it at 5 stars, because once you find where everything is it flows really well and is easy to use. However, if you have a decent sized library, it starts to slow down and glitch out and crash. I feel like standalone players are usually used by huge music lovers, and yet even around 100gb of music is a lot for the app to handle. On one hand, I get its a lot to work with. On the other hand, its kind of the point. Still probably my favorite player though

I recently downloaded the app, and it added my library quickly and easily, which is greatly appreciated. But when I added a handful of missing mp3's for 5 albums initially loaded, the library split 3 added tracks into a second album, even though the metadata for the album and the artist is the same. How can I correct this? Also, appreciate that the option to edit album data is forthcoming. Still have exploring, but so far, really impressive!

Very attractive and fluid experience. Definitely a contender for best music player on Android. Two things I would like to see are speed controls as they seem to be absent, and either an ability to hide or a different implementation of the 3 dot menu in the album page, as it is a bit distracting to have it on every album cover while looking for a certain album.

I've tried dozens of music players, and was never completely happy with any of them — but this one comes close! Most intuitive UI; clearest, easiest navigation; best player screen, w/ controls at natural thumb height (not bottom of the screen); self-explanatory icons — I absolutely love it. HOWEVER, it hasn't been updated in a year, so I'm worried. And there ARE some bugs, mostly w/ cover art & putting perfectly-labeled tracks in “unknown artist.â€

Impressive, smooth, nice extras and no ads for free? Hard to believe! Only thing preventing me from making this my main player and donating is a playback speed option. I listen to allot of spoken audio and books where they speak too fast for me to absorb and need to slow it down 10% often. Very Important feature for me! If this is available with a donation, let me know, but I don't see it anywhere. Great job so far! Just wish it could be my main player.

Works very well! I like the interface, it's smooth and clean, and it lets me pick albums from my car's bluetooth head unit as well. The one thing I don't get is that it keeps saying permissions denied, even though it has access to my music and audio library and everything works fine. I don't understand why it wants to access my photos and send me notifications as well.

Great app. The interface is nice and clean, it can accurately fetch synced lyrics (with reasonable accuracy) as well. An equalizer is also available. The only other thing I’d like to have is an option to type in the song and artist, and have metadata automatically attached. This could come from the same source as the synced lyrics. Even without it, this is the best on-device player I’ve ever had.

Overall a good app, but needs work. Takes really long time to load the library compared to other music apps. Also, it doesn't read the artist tag by default but the album artist tag instead. As a result, I had to redo the tags in most of the 80,000 songs in my music library so that they would not be listed as "unknown artist". This is a rookie mistake. I bought you coffee, I paid for the full app, and I'm still switching over to MediaMonkey because I don't have to deal with this from them.

This music player is great, my favorite, actually. It's got all the features I need with a good amount of customization. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it. Twice this week it's randomly deleted my playlists and simply stopped recognizing music files. Sometimes it happens after I turn on my phone, sometimes it's just whenever I open up the app.

Used to be great, but now it's pretty buggy. When pausing music for a while, then coming back later, it may or may not remember. If it does remember, it often just continues the current song then stops, despite other songs being in the queue. When using Android Auto it often decides to shuffle despite shuffle not being turned on. AA mode also seems to be lacking some controls that used to be there. I guess it's time to find something else.
