What happened? Suddenly video playback doesn't work? Clear cache. Uninstall the app, reinstall the app. Reboot the system. I don't understand how something that was working could suddenly be so... bad. Now my choices are to first read several comments with the same problems and then dive into the sea of problems reported on the Internet on hopes that something will suggest a fix. Could you just test your updates before you put them out? It's bad.
This is a pretty worthless system if you're concerned about security. Cameras randomly disconnect and then come back. The wiring that comes with the DVRs isn't good enough to put in an attic. I've already had to replace two of the six cables that came with my system. I've had this system for over five years and it's been flakey the whole time. The app sucks. The seek function during playback has never worked correctly. The event notifications no longer take me to the event. It's just not good.
Great 5-year hardware, but the software is failing. The cameras themselves have been excellent, but the Lorex Classic app has become a nightmare. For the last 2 days, it keeps asking me for my biometric login, creating a loop. When I finally get in, trying to view an alert thumbnail causes an instant crash or an unknown error message. I just decided to uninstall/reinstall, but to no avail. I waited a day to see if the system would correct itself, as is sometimes the case. Please fix this bug!"
STILL BROKEN 15JUN26! If I even attempt to play a video clip of an event, it will crash and say, "something went wrong." If I actually do get to see the clip, it will cut the video short while the event is taking place. Example, when the camera records a vehicle coming into the frame, you will see 10 seconds before the vehicle comes up the driveway, you will see the car driving into the driveway, but the video clip stops while the car is still in motion. You won't see the ending of the movement.
Stay away from Lorex. I purchased the 4K model and have had nothing but trouble. The system is unreliable, with frequent issues and poor overall performance. Features that are supposed to work consistently often don't, making the system frustrating to use. For the price, I expected a much more dependable security system. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing, and I would not recommend it to others looking for a reliable surveillance solution.
