I love this app for taking notes for my classes. I’ve since used it as a weekly and monthly planner making organizing classes so much easier. I love that I can have all my class notes and planners all in one spot. It’s easy to navigate through as well. The formatting for taking notes makes it easy to follow along in class without having to worry about organizing my notes. I use the class notes template and there’s even a section for questions which I’ve found very helpful as I tend to think of things during lecture but usually at inappropriate times. This template allows me to quickly jot down thoughts so I can ask the professor after class. I’ve only just started to use this app but I’m sure I’ll be using this note taking app well into graduate school. I had to use cengage for one of my college classes and it offered a 6month free trial and after trying to redeem that I ended up being charged for the full annual price. I reached out to customer service and got a response almost immediately with a refund and they honored the free trial as well. I’m beyond happy with this fast service and doing the right thing, I fully expected to be charged the full amount. The only thing I’d love to see is different highlighter colors!

I used to love Evernote until today. I bragged to all of my friends how great Evernote. I use it for many things including as a recipe storage. I am using Evernote basic. However, today the App lost 2 of my recipes. I’m very frustrated. I had a special pasta recipe I was going to make with my son. I saw the photo of the recipe on my phone and when I clicked on it and opened it up the photo disappeared. I can’t seem to get it back in any way. I think this is a terrible thing to have happened. I tried to organize my recipes electronically and pitched the hard copies. Now I have lost that recipe and another. I clicked on another recipe from the app and that photo disappeared as I opened it. I think I took these photos in 2015. The app worked fine for a recipe photo I took in 2017 this morning but it losing older photos. This is unacceptable. I stopped opening recipe notes and went to the webpage on my Mac to open other recipes and the browser version worked fine with the other pasta recipes I added the same day. But now I have wasted an hour trying to no avail to restore the image. Because I’m a basic user, I’m not even able to email customer support. The app appears to be garbage right now if it loses photos while the web browser does not. I’m so disappointed.

I just don’t understand some of negative reviews of Evernote’s latest update, which is fantastic. I have been using the app for years and am thrilled to see the innovation that the new leadership team is bringing about a year in. It looks like it took about a year to stabilize, and now new features are a’comin’. Tasks is game changing, and Gmail and Google calendar sync has boosted my productivity tremendously. I have been mainly using the web app but earlier this week updated my iPhone to this version. Immediately following the update I was having all sorts of issues getting my notes to load in the app. So I sent a support ticket to Evernote, called it a day, and accidentally left the app running overnight on my iPhone. To my delight I awakened to see a notification in the app that I had been successfully upgraded to then latest personal version. All of my notes suddenly appeared, and I have had a phenomenal experience with the app ever since. IMO nothing comes close to Evernote. I love Google, but Drive is where notes go to die. Evernote is where they flourish. I cannot say enough good things about this app and what I’m seeing from the company. It is extremely difficult to satisfy all existing customers while innovating and expanding the base. As a longtime user, however, I personally feel that the team is doing a tremendous job. Kudos!

I've used Evernote for 20 years. While the design has improved over the years, the bugs have increased dramatically. Now I can't even save a new note. I can create a new note and add as much as I like, but none of it ever gets saved. The most basic functionality of the app, and it no longer works. UPDATE: customer support reached out to inform me they'd identified the cause of this issue and provided me with a quick and effective solution. Despite lingering glitches, nothing else beats Evernote

…. Lately I’ve seen times what I just timed in running note didn’t get saved - discovered when I go back to update and don’t see what I added (to grocery list, for example) and have to hope I remembered everything I typed in the last time. Since this used to happen automatically without me ‘saving’ before closing the app, I started trying to save before I closed. Since that is indicated by the checkmark changing to left-pointing chevron, I tapped repeatedly on the checkmark to no avail. Checked to make sure I was still connected although my phone is always on data even if I’m connected to Wi-Fi, which was connected. All I can figure is the app crashes during the time I’m typing. I haven’t noticed this with any other app that requires me to type. This has only been in last couple of months or less. I like the app (free version) and will use it anyway but it would be nice if this was fixed. App is fully updated and it still happens. Not synched with anything-only used on my phone, an iPhone 12 that is less than a year old. Previously had no issues with app on my relatively ancient iPhone 6S. From scanning other reviews, sounds like I’m not the only person with the problem. Please fix. We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and would like to investigate these issues further. Please reach out to us at [email protected] from the email address associated with your account - we’ll be happy to help.

Frustrating - loses data, gets stuck. Its been years and years, and yet they still can't get the most core, basic feature to work very well. I use EN so I can take notes quickly and access them when and where I need to. Accurate sync is the main, critical feature. In fairness, they're about as good as Google, and much better than Microsoft at this.

I've been using the app for years and years, it's usually very good. Lately, it's not great at maintaining the actual creation/edit date of notes. I might open a note to view, and that adjusts its place in the timeline. I would like Tasks to replace Todoist, combine even more daily things into one platform. But the widget doesn't update or function effectively.

It's ok. When I make a checklist and save it, Evernote always deletes what I wrote and saves a blank version. This is really inconvenient and unhelpful. It is also kind of inefficient to delete a not once you do not need it anymore. To delete a note, you need to open the note and delete it instead of other softwares where you could just long-click the note and select the option of deleting it. Also it would be really helpful if, when making a checklist you can clear the tasks out each day.

When I open this app it's because I have something important to me that I want to write down while I'm in the flow. Obstructive "What's New" and "Try this new feature" pop up screens, sometimes without even any "not now" or "skip" option, that pop up every time I open the app are an annoying interruption and I'd love them to just stop. I would like to just open the app and quickly easily immediately access my notes with no interruption from the app. And btw paying customer.

Unstable and temperamental. I used to love this app however recently a few issues have made it unsuable. For starters, I can not even get through a sentence of text without cursor freezing, jumping to an unrelated line, or the keyboard becoming unresponsive. Why am I paying for a note-taking app that can't even get through a sentence... photos and documents constantly freeze or show up as corrupt photos are sometimes there and sometimes not. Text goes missing, on and on.

Too expensive, data lock-in. I used Evernote for years until they got acquired by Bending Spoons and raised their prices for the features nobody needs or asked for. Free version is impossible to use because of constant nags to update using dark UX patterns which trick you into clicking things. And, of course, if you want your notes out, it's practically impossible to do while preserving data and formatting. This is the first reason to avoid this app. Bending Spoons enshittified it to the max.

If I could rate this app 0 would. Originally, it was perfect for everything I needed. I use this app for my JOB. Now, in order to access the incredibly important things I have in the app, I am being forced to pay a ridiculous fee of $170 - something I did NOT sign up for when I started using the app a few years ago. They are scamming loyal users into paying money just to keep access to their own notes. I am not happy, and now I have to pay the fee because I can't risk losing my notes.

Update, two years later. Now when I open the app, tap in my pin to unlock it, instead of the usual 'opportunities' to upgrade, that I can close, it either opens a game I don't want or an add, neither has a close button. Can't open my notes! Bye-bye Evernote! Free version. It's suddenly not opening. Blank white screen. Uninstalled/reinstalled. Fixed momentarily, then blank white screen. Perhaps it's doing this because I don't want to upgrade? It asks me everytime I open the app. Ugh.

Avoid this app!!!! I've had Evernote (free) on 3 different phones and now they want to charge me $14.99 a month or $65 a year just to open the app. I have no access to many important notes that I've created over the years. They're giving me the option of unsyncing devices and that would keep it free. I can leave only 1 device synced. Problem is, it does not let me unsync any devices. They did that on purpose leaving you no option if you want to retrieve any notes. My advice- Use ColorNote.

ONLY 1 DEVICE FOR FREE USERS! USED TO BE 2! It is basically obsolete for free users. Can't even create new note, unless you pay monthly subscription, which is pretty expensive. Normally, I totally buy and pay for apps that are worth it. But their high subscription price isn't worth what the app has to offer. I like to support developers but this feels like huge bait and switch. I am switching to Google Keep or other notes app. 👎

Popups trying to get you to subscribe to whatever stupid pay service they're pushing often don't have X buttons to exit out. It's possible to get them to close, but so so annoying. And it happens basically every time you open the app. I'm ready to uninstall, there have to be better options out there. All I want is to keep notes on my phone. I could probably just use a Google doc and it would be a much better experience.

Have used this app for many years and loved it. Only used it on my phone. Noticed a bit back couldn't add a note which I accepted. There were only a few notes I cared about. Now today I suddenly can't even get to my notes without paying for a subscription. No warning this was going to happen. I need the info and can't access it. This is BS! At very least I should be able access the notes that I've had forever without needing to pay to get my own information. Used to recommend but no longer.

Garbage notes app. Bombards you with pop-ups for the premium version almost every time you open the app, only lets you make two folders on the free version, and just recently it blocked me from making more notes while saying that the free version is limited to 50, even though I only have 41 notes. I'm not paying a $15 monthly subscription for a goddamn notes app. I'm switching to Joplin.

This product was excellent in its earlier form, especially for creatives. However, the new pricing model is impractical. Transitioning from a free tool to a business-focused platform has alienated a large portion of your original user base. The current demo version can't load my existing library, and I no longer have the ability to edit my content. A more balanced approach-such as offering individual features at $10.99 each-Would be far more reasonable and accessible.

I've been using Evernote since 2014 and it's incredible how far it's fallen. It USED to be a simple, free note app with only the necessities, now it's been bloated with too many features and SO much basic stuff has been put behind a subscription paywall like so many other services these days. I understand that companies need to make money, but being able to only have 1 device synced when it used to be ~5??? It just feels greedy & hostile towards free users. After a decade I'm finally moving on.

Update: that email address returned with a response to NOT submit requests through there. I've submitted 3 support requests already Where is my account?!?!?! I just logged in and EVERYTHING was deleted???? no notice, no nothing, just gone. I had nearly 20 years worth of notes in there No, it's not a different account, no I don't have multiple accounts. I submitted a service request, but this is ridiculous. Will you be able to return all my notes and notebooks to me???

Every time I open this app, I become increasingly disappointed. As they add in their "improvements", they've forgotten their essential task: storing documents. Hundreds of documents have been gone missing from my files, and now attachments won't open either. Trying to contact support is useless, as they don't respond. If you can't solve it in their FAQ, you're just out of luck.

I used this app for so many years because it was great. A few years ago something happened and it became absolutely terrible. Only allowing one device, the whole point of an app like this is to use it on multiple devices. So now they charge money for it and constantly bombard them with ads. The only reason I use it very rarely now, is for accessing old notes I need. I am reminded how terrible it is each time I need to do this.

Latest update has rendered OneNote useless. After logging in, all I get is a white screen. **Update** After clearing cache & data, I was able to access the app like normal. 8/1/25 App has my info locked unless I subscribe. Z Fold 7. As soon as I can I am getting my info and running. plus the stupid pop up to sub is annoying. app is not worth the payment being requested; $1.99 for the year tops.

I'm changing my review. Evernote is one of the worst no apps you can possibly get. Evernote is now trying to bully and force you to pay for their service and I'm not going to pay for a note app service When there are tons of free no app services. I have very important things saved in my Evernote app that I have to have access to. Now all of a sudden Evernote is only letting me unsync a device twice per month? Now we are being bombarded with this horrible kissing app ads!!!

Transitioning a free (with paid upgrades) app to fully paid, locking access to my notes until I signed up for a paid plan is really bad. Luckily I only had a few notes I cared about, which I could copy/paste out during the free trial. No easy way to export! Cancelled the trial as soon as I was done and will be uninstalling. I had been using it since 2012.

Evernote has just done something I would consider a deal breaker. Now I can't even call up the app without it immediately going into ads that take over the whole screen and even have background sound that would cause a disturbance if called up while I'm at work or in any setting that should be quiet. Evernote would now be behind a paywall if I wanted to stop the annoying ads. It used to be a good app for keeping track of things I wanted to remember and for jotting down ideas, outlines, etc

I've been a paying Evernote customer for many years with a lot of my stuff in there but as time has gone on it's been more and more frustrating to use. Attachments won't download. Or you wait 5 minutes while it says it is downloading then gets done and nothing happens. Photos won't show. Try to bring up some reference document while you are working on something and every time your phone times out the app just can't seem to handle it and won't just leave the document/note open you were looking at - you start all over - search for the document AGAIN, wait for it to come up, etc. Search inexplicably can't find things where the title or tag has the exact word in it I'm searching for. And there have been times where I have REALLY needed to get to particular piece of information and just couldn't. That is extremely frustrating - that's the point of why I put stuff in there. This product started out awesome in the days when everyone was still using desktops. As we've progressed into to mobile era it just hasn't kept up. Trying to access my stuff in the phone app is a frustrating experience almost every time - and trying to use the site in a mobile browser is worse. I haven't put anything new in for quite some time because it just no longer fits well or just doesn't work simply with how I do things anymore in the mobile era, let alone the fact that the app in general just doesn't work well.

I've used this app/program/company/whatever for so long. I have notes dated all the way back to 2013. Over the years the monetization has only gotten worse. For a while I was grandfathered in and didn't have to pay, but that's gotten me less and less as well. Today, while searching my notes, I got a pop up that said 2 more results found. Evernote Personal finds words inside documents and PDFs. Upgrade. This is the final nail in the coffin. Don't bother with this app it's not worth it.

I have been using this app for 10+ years. It has been invaluable to my work and home life. Recent changes have made it useless. When typing my keyboard constantly disappears, entire sections of notes disappear even after saving appears confirmed. Typing is annoying with the keyboard issue, but it's futile to try if I keep losing over half of what I type. The words annoyed, frustrated, furious, and disappointed just scratch the surface. I'm cancelling my premium & shopping for an alternative.
