Very poor experience. Udemy’s prices seem to change constantly, sometimes minute to minute. Courses appeared to be included with the subscription, but after I paid for a full year, some required separate purchases. Support is mostly AI chat or email at their convenience. Refunds for subscriptions appear to be offered only where required by law. Very disappointing and feels misleading.
I had to create a new profile. It's still an amazing app and has a lot of free courses. Also $20 a month to access paid courses doesn't seem like a lot considering there's so many courses to access. I love Udemy, it's good to be back, and I'll pay for courses as I see fit and I might even get a monthly subscription at some point.
The instructors that post to this platform do good work. Platform support is disappointing. My wife accidentally bought a subscription on my account that was meant for her account. Udemy refused to transfer the account and refused to issue a refund "unless required by law" so she could buy the subscription on her account. I'm not angry, I'm incredibly disappointed. This could have been resolved easily, instead they've gotten their last dollar from us.
I haven't used the app all that much, but the videos and integrated quizzes are working well, and there are a lot of options for captions, suggested courses, etc. My main issue comes down to how scummy some of the sales tactics are in the app. It seems like they're constantly trying to get you to spend more money and threatening you with FOMO. Timers for discounts, dynamic pricing, etc. The app functions well and delivers the content, but the business methods are scummy and scammy.
The new personal plan is amazing for anyone looking to learn new skills and not break the bank. It's the equivalent of having a gym membership for you brain. Loving this platform. Update: there are way too many ads. Even after paying for a course and having their personal plan you get an ad after EVERY SINGLE Lesson. I can't take it anymore. I would much rather be charged more, than have my learning experience interrupted time and time again.
