I’ve been playing this game for a few months now. Following up with updates, content creators, the discord, and even doing my own research with fellowship mates and friends. I love the game. If you’re looking for a decent war game that requires strong communications and teamwork, with a play style similar to risk but with more interaction then this is the game you should try. Now my only complaint would be how it is advertised to be non pay to win. That is unfortunately a blatant lie. I am not against paying to unlock extra items and I enjoy the season pass rewards. But there is a clear difference in what a Free to Play player is capable of and what someone who spends hundreds (or in the case of our server thousands) on mathoms is capable of. Respect 10 equipment is nearly impossible to get for free to play players let alone upgrade them but you added it as a major feature in season 2 and beyond. All I’m saying is I would love to see some deserved respect and support of your free to play or low spender players. Stop catering towards those who spend massive amounts to gain fully upgraded equipment with the best stats and abilities for multiple commanders. I hope you see this and genuinely consider my input as I’ve seen already some decent response to the community and additions like the new red book challenges. TLDR: Awesome, Risk-like multiplayer, war strategy game that is outfitted in LOTR theme. Needs to balance Free to Play and Pay to Win.

So, when they first came out this sort of strategy mobile game flooded the market. Most of them are just blatant rip offs of each other and have the exact same pattern on overcrowded menus and way too much stuff to pay attention to and it was all hidden behind a pay wall anyway so no one wanted to play them. This game however, is so nice and neatly packaged and it’s so user-friendly and even though it has a lot of the same overcrowded menus it’s all packaged much more neatly in that your castle only has really five buttons that you need to focus on and then you need to worry about your commanders and units. This as opposed to the other games that make you focus on 1 million different things all at once. Not to mention that it’s packaged in a lord of the rings skin which is absolutely fantastic. And also, at least for now, the game is not paid to win. I’ve seen just as many people playing for free doing really well as I have people who spent $100 on it already and have roughly the same stuff as those who work hard for it. My only criticism is that I wish there were more tips and, honestly, more commanders. But other than that this is a great game and I highly recommend it!

First, anyone thinking about playing this game needs to understand that it is not a farmville or simcity with dwarves kind of game. It is a PvP war game, where you must cooperate with other players in your fellowship and faction in order to survive. Farmers are not welcome. Fighters are. Second, it is a pay to win game. The game is very well structured in that it is possible to play all the way through without paying any money at all. But the top players spend thousands of dollars on this game, some of them tens of thousands, and it makes a difference. Plan to spend at least a few hundred dollars on this if you want to be competitive. Third, do not spend ANY money until you fully understand how equipment upgrades work. Upgrades are expensive and you do not want to wasre equipment. All of that said, this is truly an extraordinary game, especially if you are a LOTR fan. Especially if you've read ALL five of the books: The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, and the LOTR Trilogy. The graphics, gameplay, sound, everything. A work of art. It is deep and complex, like the books. Be patient. Come to learn. Come to fight. Come to win!

I just want to say that this game is incredibly fun; however, it’s also incredibly frustrating. The evil faction commanders are so overpowered that my maxed out commanders with good gear a full maxed out armies will lose every battle against an evil faction commander 10 levels lower. Now a good faction commander 10 levels lower wouldn’t stand a chance but the evil faction commanders win every time. On every server I’ve played on, Mordor wins almost uncontested because no one really had a chance to begin with. Evil faction commanders are so overpowered that my entire fellowship agrees it’s an unfair battle from the start. Something needs to change or this game is either going to lose players or everyone is just going to play evil factions so that they actually have a chance at winning. I gave 4 stars because of how fun the game is. It didn’t get 5 stars because of this blatantly obvious unbalanced combat. I wouldn’t be surprised if this hasn’t already cost the game players. Just now my level 50 Aragorn lost to a level 43 Khaldoon. As a matter of fact that level 43 Khaldoon also defeated my level 47 Haldir in the same attack, so lower level and handled two of my higher level commanders. If that’s considered balanced play then I must not have two brain cells between my ears because it doesn’t seem like it to me.

It was a good game...they recently changed the ring power system. Though I am often one for change it needs to be progressive. The new system hinders your progress and is completely restrictive Not a fun experience as compared to before. Lame the devs don't care about user time. Could have add a lot to help people progress early instead you waste ring power in redundant abilities (extract) or none use abilities( construction). You won't be able to even start certain branches until late game.

This game is enjoyable, but stay 2 days of playing it, it's already taking hours to do anything. Feels like you are forced to buy things to enjoy the game. It would be nice if there was more things to do while you are waiting 10 minutes for your soldiers to walk or 2 hours for a task to complete our 5 hours for a building to complete. Once you run out of stamina on your commander the game becomes very boring. Getting through to Chapter 14 was very far then everything is incredibly slow.

Okay so I like the strategy in the game but when I first started first started playing I was a good guy fraction but they were brutal and toxic when ever I tried to help they say “your to weak get stronger your a spy”. Yeah that’s what they say then in the second season I went to Mordor and they were nicer less toxic but the top warband leaders never listen to my ideas WHEN GONDOR TRAPPED US I SAID “let’s go the Rohin they seam pretty weak and another group already attacking them so let’s help them”. But they said “no we don’t want to start another war”. And I said again “GONDOR HAS US TRAPPED AND THEY CAN DO A FULL OUT INVASION ON US”. And they said “okay still let’s not”. At this point I was facepalming myself. Then I left that group and joined a different one they were smarter but it was not really fun that much because they told me what to do or else I get pretty well kicked from the group and I could not war plan only they could at some times so I just deleted the game it was fun but players are mean and strict in that game and when ever you report someone nothing happens to them. Maybe you should have a staff member or two in each faction and they can check up on each warband to make sure players were being nice to each other and letting them join in and help attack and make it fair to all. And I deleted the game Hello Player, thank you for your precious insights. We will pass them to our development team for further review. We believe new content and patches are coming. Thank you for your support!

In the begining the game is a lot of fun. Yet you quickly get overrun by players who can afford to spend more time and more money than you, and the experience diminishes quickly. The cycle of "seasons" makes the game repetitive and ultimately boring. You restart back at square one every three or four months and then basically do the same things over again...try and get the "one ring." There's no new challenge and not enough new content to keep things interesting.

Can't say there are any bugs, but doesn't seem like a game that has much to do. Edit, game quickly turned for the worse as it has no balance. And suddenly you turn the game on to realize you are surrounded by enemies and get destroyed easily as they are more than 2x your lvl. I guess elves were king on my server, and can take out the rest of the "powers" with ease.

It's a wonderful game to play. Trick is having to wait 4 months for a season to end so you can play. Would be great to stop in the current world whenever the user wants, to give another a new own a go. A computer city placed in users' spot to play. Also, you should have a Practice Season. A 2 week/month feature so users can see try different races and their methods/tricks would be a great addition. Not only for the new players, but so all races/teams can be tried. So canceling out of a season

So I tried this game when it first came out and played for around 2 years. It was long enough to watch as it rapidly declined. It used to be a really good game and then just significantly went downhill. Just your typical money grab now, and they have taken features away. Severe disappointment. They had the opportunity to make a phenomenal game and masterpiece but instead turned it into a money grab. It's such a shame.

Honestly, I see the potential this game has. But as it is right now, I'm just not into it. Battles are pretty repetitive, when you start out, there's kind of a story to follow, but it falls off after awhile and there isn't much else to do. You get thrown into this map literally right next to players of your faction who hoard land and resources, only way to expand is to attack them, which will get you attacked by the their guild. I hope this game gets a solo campaign

It's a fun game, and I originally gave a 5 star, but unfortunately once you get past the main story line of the game and there are no more objectives for that end, it becomes painfully obvious that you will fall far behind on game items and drops if you do not pay for them. For sure not free to be competitive, I'm happy to grind for drops but that's not an option.

Love playing this game, got it day one and played all day every day. Quickly realized I no longer could defeat players, noticed I was losing every battle, even as I grind for items. It's a pay to be competitive game. There are so many whales playing that it takes all the fun out. Not enough resources to go around. Even though I spent money on season passes and what not, didn't matter, I quickly got pushed around and could never farm resources as whales walked all over me. Loved the lore though.

When the game first came out. It was fun. Now years later, now going on my 7th year, this game has done nothing but bow to the players that spend money. If you aint made of money and spending money then you wont enjoy this game. Very disappointed. Role Play servers are no longer role play, its just a free for all. Only difference is which set of commanders do you use. Cannot even enjoy the game anymore due to the game bowing to the money spenders.

I like the Lord of the Rings theme to this game. Aside from that it is just another marketing gimmick to get you to spend money. Additionally the developers apparently don't know anything about the lore and just make up whatever sells best. The game also requires a rediculous amount of time to play (3-6+ hours daily). Edit: The game has improved slightly since the orginal 2.0 update. Especially in the first two seasons.

I played this game years ago and had a wonderful time, it was easy to learn and succeed in with or without spending money. with what the game is now it's unplayable in every aspect. I had planned to whale and spend thousands but being forced through an extensive tutorial that doesn't actually teach you anything, and not being able to play any dark forces is just atrocious. they made commanders and gear 20x more paywalled than before. don't let the 5 star reviews fool you, was before update 2.0

This game was a really fun game. They just released what they call version 2.0 which completely ruined combat. This game is now unplayable. Their "fix" for what was a very fun but admittedly old combat mechanic was to make it a new but completely boring dumbed down no fun combat mechanic. I'll just farm for a bit to see if all of the negative response creates change but I'm guessing I will be uninstalling soon.

The game was going fine, and I was enjoying myself, even threw in a few bucks to get some stuff, which I rarely do. But then all my progress got deleted, and I had daily crystals still, which I just paid for. Since all my progress was taken away, this game has now been uninstalled and I won't be re-downloading it as it cheated me out of characters, gear, and money.

The new version 2.0 is absolutely garbage. It's the biggest money grab by developers I've ever seen. Let's change all the core aspects of the game to render any purchases made since launch obsolete. Game was great for 2 years, and then they succumbed to greed to attempt to extort more money from the current players instead of adding things to the core game to bring in new players. Netease is a joke.

The ads for this game are deceptive and don't actually portray this game for what it is, which is a resource management type game that takes place in Middle-Earth. I was incredibly bored "playing" through the first chapter of the game. So much so that I couldn't possibly continue a game with such limited progress and absolutely no action. This game feels like it is preying on your love of LOTR to get a quick buck from you. Especially since the ads for the game make it seem like something else.

At first this game seems to be one of the best games I have ever played. When playing along side other players and coordinating large scale attacks, it really gets you hooked on the excitement and intensity of the game mechanics. But that doesn't last long. After season 1 it's a complete waste unless you spend ridiculous amounts of money. I paid for the season pass, stayed up late to get a head start, played everyday for hours, just to get demolished by players who spends thousands of dollars.

The game's graphics are nice, but like other Net Ease games, it is a clear pay-to-win. Whales will throw money at OP heroes and items, as well as other things that will give them clear and decisive advantages over players of limited money. Furthermore, the game is designed to force players to fight these whales, likely in an attempt to give the whales a good time at the expense of everyone else. If you are a whale, this game is just right for you, if not then steer clear.

Game is great the interactions and mechanics alone make it seem worth playing. The reason you will not want to play is the current zerg issue in game. You will find yourself on the losing side every season due to one simple fact. There is always one faction who has all the active players who are on 24/7. Making it impossible to progress, learn and let alone play the game. Seasons also last several months and you are not able to end early, so you are stuck on a dying server until the season ends.

I've played this game since beta. It was great once. I personally didn't find the 2.0 changes to be too bad. The community, however, is different. The pay-to-win losers are destroying the game. Not only is fighting them a pain, but being on a team with them is a nightmare. Day one on a new season and the whales are already picking fights with other factions. This game is getting to the point where the whales dictate who, when, and where you fight. If they're ready, you better be. Sucks hard.

The game isn't at all how they advertise it. Don't fall for this it's just another pay to play scam to make money off you. Every faction in the game is the exact same with no difference in playing styles at all. They say you can play as mordor but really mordor is identical to everyone else in the game. Also it takes so long to upgrade and build stuff (base, character development) that you end up waiting days to do anything unless you spend money for it. Would not recommend this game.

When the game first released, it was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed meeting other people, teaming up, coordinating attacks, conquering. It was all fun until youd face pay2win players who would spend a lot of money to get gold tier weapons, Armour, and trinkets, and complete rollover and knock back everyone. That is where the fun was really taken out of it. I think the pay2wins should be on their own server, then I'd come back.

User to be fun for a couple seasons. But now the only way to really enjoy it is to pay money. Horribly pay to win. Lost all my resources in less than 24 hours after 2 weeks of grinding to a few players that my best characters can't even touch because they all have maxed out equipment. Its just not fun to be steamrolled by people willing to open up their wallets. Heck I've even bought the battle pass every season but I can't even tickle people anymore.

It has dropped to 1 star, the update did not fix the problem and I now know for sure that is not my phone. The game does not crash if I pick Elves or Men.... but if I choose any of the villain factions, which is what I want, the game crashes. It won't let me play as Angmar or Morder. But if I choose any of the good factions the game runs smoothly. This NEEDS to be fixed!
