This app is a mess. I love the Commerce app and use it daily. The Commerce function of this app does work. It constantly crashes, won't notify me when I have an order, won't allow me to redeem gift cards in person and won't allow POS if you have an Android phone. I don't understand why you would remove the Commerce app before this app does everything that one does. It's terrible. I would give it zero stars if I could.
Garbage. App crashes all the time and even though it's supposed to be a mobile app, the photo editing feature for blogs cuts off half of the editing functionality on the right. Plus, blog posts don't actually publish, even though the app SAYS it is published, when you do it from the app. Nice work Squarespace 👍.
Please don't make this the only app! Please keep the much better commerce app as well! I don't EVER edit my website from this app, but the button to edit takes up the bottom of every screen, so it's easy to accidentally access it. Unlike the commerce app, this app doesn't start where you last left, AND you no longer have access to your customers; only the orders. *LOST ANOTHER STAR FOR NO NOTIFICATIONS - AGAIN.
This app is a cruel joke. After hours waiting for it to download to my Samsung Tablet it opens in the portrait mode which would not be a problem if I had fingers the size if a mouse. In order to make edits to text I have to type and because of that I use a keyboard. In the portrait mode I am unable to use it. I am having a similar issue with the app for my iPad. The edit capability on my desktop is fine - but it is far to big to carry around with me. Fix these issues - PLEASE!
Commerce integration is trash. Squarespace app DOES NOT alert me to new orders upon arrival. I have to go looking for them. Went to update the notification settings to change that, but it's not an option. Items show up double in the order. So lets say they ordered 1 item, it will show 2 and you have to verify the amount paid to identify what was actually purchased. Fix this. Stat. Messing up my daily flow.
It is so difficult to navigate this app. I can't use this platform since I need a laptop or desktop to do literally anything. For the price, the app and mobile abilities need serious work. Shameful, honestly. Even cheaper platforms like Weebly allow you to edit your site and add digital files both from the app and through mobile access.
They try to make it as complicated as possible to cancel service. When I was able to cancel service and disable automatic payments, they still charged me anyway. Even though i no longer have a website or domain from them. They charged me for receiving no services from them! $324 for their services, in case you were wondering. I'd give 0 stars if possible
Feel pretty tricked into wasting so much time building a website, only to find out that in order for half of the features to function you need to keep upgrading your plan. Not to mention the supposed free trail allows you to pretty much do nothing. I moved away from shopify because I was under the impression that square space would be cheaper, but I was clearly mistaken. I've already spent money before it became clear that my website can't sell any products so I've wasted a bunch of time &money
I came from a year of Wordpress, which was good and bad. It was an open field where everything is possible, but with you yourself having to keep the plugins running and the pro versions paid up. Squarespace gives me the freedom to just work on my website, choosing the layout and writing the content, with extras integrated if I choose them, like email campaigns and appointment scheduling. It's quite liberating. I can highly recommend it.
It flat out refuses to work. I can use the site easily to edit and post on my website, I thought the app may be helpful when I'm not near my laptop to make small edits or check my analytics but it just won't load and tells me to check my internet connection, my internet is fine and it does the same when I have my wifi on or off. It's really frustrating, the app is beyond useless. (Also, the fact that 7.1 designs don't have social media share buttons built in is seriously ridiculous)
It's difficult to navigate commerce part. Duplicating products is a nightmare, as you can't do it from the "products" section. You also can't edit variants there. You have to go to the products page itself instead, and watch very carefully not to press the back button once - on your phone - as it will take you out of your listing completely - and back to the main navigation. You will lose your photos, description and tags. This is a problem when you have to make a quick update on the go.
Terrible. Totally screws up the ordering of my photos every time I use it. It also doesn't even display all the images in each gallery in the app versus on my desktop. I've emailed them about the problem three times and was simply told that they are aware of it. A year later and no change. Garbage. The ordering of photos is one of the most important and simple aspects of a gallery or portfolio and their customer service acts like it's no biggie. Time to move on.
Very hard to set up a page. Some people say it was easy for them. They must've been lucky or something. Takes forever to dig through several sections to edit. And on mobile certain sections to edit don't even respond to being clicked. And an error screen pops up when editing sometimes, too, so then I can't even do anything. There are too many sections to dig through, too. Cancelling account and uninstalling app. Very disappointed. Thought it would be easier to set up and it's not.
Horrific blog page design...It jumps around when typing a blog post, so it's impossible to see the overall paragraph as you compose. To access the blog you have to navigate through the entire website. It wouldn't allow me to paste a pre-written caption into photos, and I can't select text within a caption to make it bold, it acted as if I were selecting the entire image. I can highlight words in a text box to add a link, but then the text disappears after hitting "ok". Old app was so much better
Used for years. now it's beyond buggy it makes me want to throw my phone out the window when I add a product. It works great for fulfilling my orders as well as analytics but when I'm away from my laptop or it's dead without a charger I need to be able to utilize the "add product" feature and it's buggy the whole way through. It puts long indentions in my description, doesn't allow punctuation, which leaves it a jumbled mess, and takes 15 minutes for 1 letter to type. (My internet is great)
Squarespace is a company that designs websites that scale seamlessly for any device so what does it say that they force you to use an app rather than their own website on mobile? At least try, Squarespace. I don't want to install more garbage single use apps on my phone and give you access to stuff my web browser never would. To top it off, like so many of the other reviewers say, it's buggy and lacks features. In my case I installed it specifically for the purpose of switching a blog post I'd already fully written and edited to "published." One of the most simple operations possible, and it kept crashing with an error. Had to get home to a PC to get it done.
If you're intension is to use this to sell physical products, don't bother. Adding products via this app is so stripped down that it's useless. You can't add shipping criteria via the app, which makes the products you add via the app unsellable, as well as about 15+ other parameters including SEO, web address naming, variants, keywords, taxes, and the list just goes on and on.
Love Squarespace as a website builder but the app is limited for what it would generally be used for. The app is not great to design web pages, so it would be better if the focus was on setting up inventory and discounts. However this function is very rudimentary. You cannot add variations to products, it forces your cursor to lower case after each letter of a product name despite the "all caps" being on, and you can't add discounts. Adding these would make the app more usable in a portable way.
Garbage. This app use to work. It doesn't work now. I can no longer edit my website on the go. I can't upload content from my phone without initiating from my laptop. It's very disappointing, given that I'm paying to use all aspects of the platform as touted. Oh, I can no longer edit my website in Chrome. The edit blocks don't load, and the workaround doesn't work. There's an issue on the platform's side, according to the third level software engineer looking at it. It's been a few weeks.

(My internet is great)
If you're intension is to use this to sell physical products, don't bother. Adding products via this app is so stripped down that it's useless. You can't add shipping criteria via the app, which makes the products you add via the app unsellable, as well as about 15+ other parameters including SEO, web address naming, variants, keywords, taxes, and the list just goes on and on.
Garbage. App crashes all the time and even though it's supposed to be a mobile app, the photo editing feature for blogs cuts off half of the editing functionality on the right. Plus, blog posts don't actually publish, even though the app SAYS it is published, when you do it from the app. Nice work Squarespace 👍.
