Over the years, I've had 2 SimpliSafe systems, set up at 2 different homes, with 2 sets of hardware, and at least 2 phones. It has been a few years now, and I have never, ever experienced 2 months of trouble-free operation. There is always some type of issue. Random software issues with cameras, or a device has to be reset, reconnected, or replaced.
The app is fairly decent. I don't like that you cannot set different alert tones for the camera alerts, arming the system and etc. Simplisafe has said it has been in development for years. Years later and nothing has changed except the price of monitoring.The system itself has been mostly good. The cameras are slow to load, you'll miss most of the "ACTION".
The app and the cameras are absolute garbage. The app goes "temporarily" out of service for long periods of time, preventing all live access to your cams. The cameras disconnect randomly during recordings and live access. I have business Starlink and my speeds are well above what any residence would need, yet the customer support continuously blames my internet connection even though the cameras diagnose themselves as having good signal. Highly recommend you go a different route.
The app runs reliably as far as no crashes. That said, it is incredibly annoying to get motion alerts from the camera system but when you go to look, it just says waking camera even though it shows recording. Also, there needs to be a more advanced settings option. It feels like a dumbed down version. I got a decent starting Simplisafe system when we bought the house. I finished building it out with extra sensors and cameras. With the camera delays and limited recording, I wouldn't buy again.
set up was easy if you have a drill. the outdoor cameras were easy to set up with some solar panels to keep em charged. the monthly subscription service is better than competitors too. no long term contracts. easy to monitor from the app. had some technical difficulties, because I was using 5 ghz wifi, but after some troubleshooting everything ran smoothly.
