Adorable! It's somewhat challenging (in a good way), makes you use your imagination and teaches strategy. I would recommend patching the "no Internet- opening the app - logout" situation, it is a bit annoying. Otherwise, amazing!
Updating a previous review I made, it's still a great game, but I had said it looked wrong on my phone but it turns out it was because I change my display size to small and the game switched to tablet mode. Switching back to default size fixes it! tl;dr messing with display size setting on your phone might change game to tablet mode and also this game is still great
perfect implementation of my favorite game and the expansions add a lot of fun. i cant wait for them to release more of them digitally. really wish the app had rivers, lakes and the hiking trail expansions. as well as the epic and giant maps to combine expansions.
As someone who has played a good share of board game adaptations (e.g., Brass, Spirit Island, Blood Rage, RftG, etc.), I have to admit that this is the best one yet. It has given me hope that board games adapted to mobile do not have to be awful. The developers deserve all the praise they can get. Let this be an examplar of how to do it right. Great job, everyone!
I had been thinking about buying the physical version of the game but had never pulled the trigger. So when the App came out, I thought I could give it a try before buying the board version. The App is solid and I love the asynchronous gameplay. I can play with the wife and kids and we can all play at our own pace with no downtime. The game itself is a nice little puzzle as you try to hit goals and leave yourself many options early then rush to close off open ends in the later part of the game. I’m not terribly good yet but am having a blast. Two complaints: the tutorial game should not give you achievements. I want high scores to come from my own games. Secondly, the motivations are wonky and I have to turn them off to get the red notification number to disappear. Hope both things are fixed, but neither are enough to deduct a star.
This game is frustratingly awesome. It is a very unique game, which can be somewhat challenging to master. It has now been updated and all previous issues have been resolved (thanks to the devs). I would 100% recommend this game as it has some very unique puzzle solving. A very unique and fun game to play.
This game is a very unique game, it's great that the developer is giving the chance to try it first at a low price (currently on a special $).After playing it I decided to buy the expansions,it will give you extra things.The game is working perfectly,the graphics looks very nice and the sound is very appropriate calm surrounding sounds. It has daily tournaments,option for PVP, play solo, offline.More expansion packs, totally worth the $,hours of fun😀 Make more often daily with the expansions.
Outstanding adaption of a roll and write classic. Insanely addictive. Very much in that 'just one more game' bracket. Some things I'd recommend; a button to retrieve all dice from your board, also the menu buttons are too far to the extremities of the screen making them difficult to press (on my pixel 4xl at least) due to their small size. Wonderful game though.
Lovee this game! I heard about the board game being fun and happen to come across the application version of the game. So I purchased the application for our up coming holiday to play on the plane and at the airport. It's fantastic, I really enjoy the puzzle of the day challenge! Now I'd like to buy the board game version!
The app store showed this as having no ratings so I dodged it - $8 too expensive for a risk. But then on a whim I decided to take the punt. The game is excellent. Presentation is faultless. The daily challenges will keep me coming back.
This game is amazing. Well made and relaxing, 5/5 game and application. My only problem occured lately with the server problem. I understand that it might take a while to get a new server up and running but it's been too long.. I used to challenge and play with my friends but now I cannot any longer. I decided to give a small rating because of this issue and will put back to 5/5 when online is restored. Edit 10/6/23: Online is back! I immediately told my friends and we are playing again!
Hey do you like Cartography & board games, then this is probably an instant buy. Yes it's cartography lite but its meant to be a fast experience. But don't let that fast experience fool you. Tons of depth to be found here, with more elaborate online challenges. Basically you roll the dice with various roads and rails printed on them some featuring stops, t-sections, curves, etc. and your basic objective is to hook up the exits, but it's more than just that. Worth the price of admission!
I like it. Would be nice to be more clear about expansions vs the real game - this includes none of the green/yellow dice in the box, which add 2 extra game modes. Even the paid addons are only 1 game mode per purchase (£1.69 each), and not all are available as I write this (shame, there are like 20 extra modes from the kickstarter that would be interesting). It does however include the classic board which would be a separate purchase, and usually daily challenges are new maps.
Love Railroad Ink Challenge, app or tabletop. Not loving the way my phone keeps wanting to connect to Google Play Games - something seems off there and clearly I'm not the only person struggling with that. I'd love to be able to play straight Railroad Ink, without the special buildings or goals - old skool. If it weren't for the weird Google Play Games thing, it'd be five stars.
Feb 2023: Abandoned by developers - it was a great game with so many features, but when they had to switch to a new server situation, they never did. I paid for a lot of content to be able to play with friends far away and now all that online functionality is completely gone. It's been at least four months without any kind of update, I think longer since we had the full game experience. June 2023: it's back online. I understand it's a small team, but timeline and communication would have helped
Great game. A great adaptation of the bird game, with some fun additions for the app, but also great to still be able to play the base game. It’s annoying to not really be able to play offline, but really annoying that you can start and play a full game online, but then get to the end and it won’t score it, and then immediately throws out the whole game. Would love to be able to play this offline while flying.
It would be extremely useful to see the expansion scoring rules as part of the drop-down general scoring information. I couldn’t find a quick reference. In fact I didn’t manage to find it at all and had to use an external source. If the info is there it could be made more easily available; if it’s not there then it needs to be added.
My cousin bought the physical game at a game store and brought it on vacation. The graphics are beautiful, it was simple to learn and having a different game every time you play made this game addicting. We were glued to it for our entire weekend getaway - literally played it probably 50 times. An offhanded comment led to a search in the App Store for an app version of the game and low and behold we found it! This app adds additional elements not found in the base physical game which is awesome. But it appears that the app doesn’t have the lava & meteor expansion dice?? I see the desert & rainforest expansion options are coming soon but what about the others? Any plan to incorporate them into the app? The meteor/lava dice were one of our favorite part of the physical game!!
A very good solo game (it's solitaire style) with a bunch of variety. The base game comes with a bunch of alternative boards to switch things up but the game unfortunately does not have a random option for which board to use. No actual ads in the game, just links to the physical games.
Really enjoyed the game but it feels unfinished. The game play is really fun and I like the strategy, but there are simple things missing like; a track of your scores so you can try to beat your personal best; achievements, so you have something to aim for; different maps so there is some variety. This would give it a bit of longevity, as at the moment I'm bored of it already, which is a shame as it could be really fun!
For whatever reason the game keeps telling me it hasn't completed the Google verification process on pixel 7. It's super obvious and interrupts my games constantly. Overall this is a 10/10 board game on mobile. It's a great board game too! Fix this error and get the 5/5 you deserve!!! If you want screenshots of the errors, email me- I'm happy to provide them for you! Update: same error telling me that you haven't completed your Google verification. Review stays the same.
When you were in the game, it is amazing. Intuitive UX during play, great graphics and sound, and a lot of fun. If you ever lose your password on an ipad, though, you are literally unable to recover. That’s because they send you a recovery link to your email (if you remember the email associated with the account, which it doesn’t tell you) but in order to copy the reset key, you need to app switch to your email program — at which point Trains Ink does its own restart aaaand now you can’t enter the key.
Great game, UI is a bit of a mess. The app is snappy but confusingly organized. The tutorial is bugged atm not allowing you to place the first track on the board. I'm not seeing Lakes or Rivers anywhere leaving me to wonder if it's included but not available. I'll be pretty disappointed if Rivers and Lakes are not included since the blue color suggests this is the Deep Blue boxed version. Forest and Desert are not yet available but appear to be available for separate purchase soon.
I own the physical version of this game as well. This is a fantastic implementation of that same game. However the tutorial is broken and we can't proceed past placing the first railroad, i had to pull out the physical manual to help teach it. Also, every time I start the app is stays loading on a white screen, I need to hit back 3 times and then I'm allowed to play but only in offline mode. This app needs some work it's one of the best board game apps visually and mechanically.
I like the game, but it's too unstable. I played one classic game, then tried the daily challenge. I managed to complete the daily challenge once in 5 attempts, the gameboard froze the other 4 times, only the menu worked and so all I could do was quit to menu. The game doesn't save your progress in the challenge so after each freeze, I had to start from the beginning again, which made it unplayable.
More fun with the online element. I want to pirch6the expansions, but I hardly play it now. They lost their server and it doesn't have the daily games and online stuff that it use to have. I liked the competition of playing against the world. Is it fun, yes...it just gets old quickly without the added stuff.
while I like the game (I also have it on PC and physical), my purchases on the app (green and yellow) are not showing up, even when I try to restore purchases. Support never answered my queries about it, and I'm unable to fully use the app.
Great game, rating down for lack of support: publisher can't seem to swing a server to host user accounts, without this you cannot use any daily challenge feature. Update: there's server now! I can participate in the challenges and score attacks! Woohoo! Wait...I signed up, got an account, and now my Forest and Desert existing purchases are gone and clicking Restore Purchases has no effect. Keeping the 1 star review.
