AVOID Mercari at all costs. Typing this then deleting the app. $20 in fees on a $40 purchase, you are NUTS. Fees, fees, fees, fees, so many fees, and it wasn't like this a few months ago. Then there are the scammers listing things for sale. Tried to buy an item from 3 completely different sellers, all 3 sent junk rather than the item listed. Mercari wouldn't do a refund only a credit to my account that had an expiration date. Use it in time or they just steal your money and you get nothing.
I really love this app, and I think it's a brilliant idea. I've been using Mercari for years, and they've really improved search functions, filtering, UI. My biggest criticism is that eBay's pay in 4 doesn't seem to work. Also, fees have increased a lot over the years. Lastly, you can block sellers, but that doesn't seem to prevent their listings from showing up in your feed. It would be great if they'd implement this, either as a filter option or automatically if you block a seller.
DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! There are so many fees, it's ridiculous. If you want to buy something and find a great deal for $10, you're going to be paying WELL OVER $20 after fees, which means (for me) I don't want it anymore. I wanna see what I'm paying as I look through the category I'm interested in bcuz when I find a good deal, I want it.. but it's no longer a good deal once you go through checkout... if your shopping on Mercari!
Been buying and selling on here since 2017! I definitely feel safer on here than on Ebay, it's a great platform. The bundle feature is awesome! The reason for 4 stars is the fact that they have never added a "delete all" option for messages or notifications. Going through years' worth would take too long to delete individually! Any other platform would have this option. The "99+" notifications drives me wild. Also fees have gotten pretty high over the years.
I've never had any problems with buying or selling but this app is broken half the time. It freezes, scrolling stutters and bounces around, if you browse for too long (and by "too long" I mean like 5 minutes) the listings will simply stop loading in or you can't click on them at all. I have to close and reopen the app to fix it. It makes it very difficult when I'm looking through a search that has a lot of results. It didn't used to be like this and I wish they would fix the stability
