This game is fine, could be better though, a lot of small bonuses are locked behind the Gold Pass but that's fine, I'd probably buy it if it were like NSO, which is $20 yearly. The controls are not the best, but you can customize how you want some stuff to play out, then you'll get used to it. Let's face it though, the point requirements for five stars are way too hard, haha. Try this game if you want, it's not the best but it's a nice timekiller, you get tons of rewards for random stuff.
Mario kart is basically all good. All the directions are simple for first time players, It’s super easy to get on at anytime, and there are lots of different players, karts, and gliders to choose from. However there are a two things I think should change. Thing One: It should be easier to get rubies. Rubies can be collected from challenges, the shop, the ranking, and pipes, but it really isn’t enough to get hi-ends out of the pipes. Even when you’re really lucky and get a hi-end, then it’s very hard to get rubies for the next pipe you want to fire. So if there were more ways to get rubies- also in larger quantities, that would be ideal. Thing Two: There should be trading in this game. It is really hard to get hi-ends. As I said, If you get nothing from a pipe and your out of rubies, that’s basically your only chance to get those hi-ends especially after the tour passes. The players could come back in at some point but not after a really long time. If there was trading, players could get more hi-ends they want by trading ones you don’t wan’t. Everyone wants different things and sees your bad for good trades as… bad for good! This means that if you miss a tour that had a driver you really really wanted, you could get in a super quick way! I have a lot of drivers I don’t want and are ready to trade. I’m pretty sure everyone’s asking for trading. So those are two things I think will make everyone happy.
This game is great. The concept of collecting the karts and charecters is amazing. It could've been executed better, but still great. Nintendo has recently taken away pipes as to buy. I do think that pipes should be available for maybe 10 rubies, maybe even not having a spotlight in it either. Just a way for beginners to get things. (Or even non beginners). Thanks Nintendo!
It's an awesome game! The only reason it's getting 4 stars is they need to stop people from cheating on multiplayer! One of the biggest issues I've had in multiplayer is when you make them crash they continue moving forward at driving speed as if they didn't crash period, not even when you nail them using a Super Star! The other issue is they'll immediately get the item they want without hitting an item box! And when they use it, it lasts longer than even the plus versions!
From start up app is completely user friendly, easy to navigate as well as get started even if you don’t have a Nintendo profile. Once in the game it looks amazing, all the great memories of childhood come flooding back and you are reunited with your inner child. My only complaint is game play, as it is streamless and easy to use I feel it is lacking in both immersion as well as accuracy. Immersion, I feel playing the game in wide screen and giving the player a true left and right as well as throttle and break controls, or keep auto throttle and move weapon usage and drift on buttons, could even set it up for double tap in the direction of the turn to initiated drift or put turning on joystick but swiping left and right. Swiping left and right seems to have the vehicle constantly needing a direction input due to a lack of getting back on center too slowly or something of that nature. Game play, I feel if the above is changed it will completely improve game play and bring competitiveness forefront as well as the want to continue to play and advance through the game. Just my two pennies. Those are the only reasons I give the game 4 out of 5. Everything else in the game is amazing but those areas are lacking, playing on wide screen and a change to driving controls would be highly encouraged.
Fun to play on modern devices that are supported. Gold pass is the only purchase item of value (if any). Otherwise, it's a cash grab/pay to unlock/can still play free but you won't get everything type of game. I'd like to see this app continue to exist but as no new content is being added, maybe marketing should be eased up or give us a better chance of obtaining & unlocking everything. If discontinuing, Nintendo, give us one last update to still be able to play offline/locally!
The game is overall really fun! The game graphically looks really nice, the controls are decent enough, and gameplay is pretty fun. However, the game will try it's hardest to squeeze money out of you at every turn, so if you're like me and like to play these kind of apps without spending much cash, a lot of the pop ups and restrictions may get a bit annoying, especially from how hard it is to get the in-game currency (rubies). But if you need a fun game to pass the time, I recommend it!
It is a fun game and I recommend getting it, but it can get boring and repetitive after awhile. There are really only a few tracks that get reused for each tour, sometimes modified. The thing that bugs me a lot is the gold pass. I don't really think it's cool to have 200cc be an exclusive thing that I pay $5 a month for when I can just play my switch and save in the long run. Also controls are not that great.
Not really a replacement for a real Mario Kart experience, touchscreen has never been a great way to play driving/racing games. It functions. Large variety of maps and characters, although they're only available on a rotation. Thankfully the predatory gacha system is gone, so now you can get anything you want as long as you play enough.
I've been playing this game for over 2 years now. I will say I enjoy the game and you don't have to spend money, but with that being said if you want just one character you need 150 rubies. If you don't have the rubies it will cost you 70 DOLLARS !!!!! For one driver only!!! That's crazy to me. Then you get gold pipes that are supposed to give you good drivers/gliders/karts, after so long you just keep getting the same items over and over. The daily shop ALWAYS has the same items.
This is still a game I like to play every now and then but keep in mind I am addicted to all Mario Kart games. I still regularly play Mario Kart Wii and 8 deluxe. This game is fun for when I want a much more simplistic and quick dose of Mario Kart. Unfortunately I have been getting an error for the past two days. Can't remember the error code but it seems to happen after trying to load something or at the end of a match resulting in me not getting credit for the race. Don't want to reinstall
I was pretty excited for this game to come out. Mario Kart is one of my favorite Nintendo series. Unfortunately, it’s hard to enjoy. I really only have fun with it one or two days every two weeks, since other than that cups only release once per day. I’m really not a fan of ranked cups, it’s a bit unfair when you’re against people who do the in-app purchases (which are WAY too overpriced). It’s always so hard and repetitive since you’re only playing three tracks over and over. And if you don’t get top row for everything, you’re kind of screwed. It’s especially annoying when you get to higher tiers and it’s way harder to progress, not to mention you go down if you get bottom 10 (which is way too many people, bottom 5 would make more sense). Unfortunately, it’s really the only practical way to get rubies. Tour gifts are way too slow and buying them is way too expensive. (Why the heck does the gold pass cost more than NSO?) To say something positive, it is pretty fun playing new cups and I like how we continuously get new tours. I also think bonus challenges are fun (except maybe smash small Dry bones and mega battles). I’ve been wanting them back in Mario Kart, and it’s cool to see them here. All in all, I feel like this app mostly just wastes my time and I kind of wish I’d never downloaded it. It also really makes me want Mario Kart 9. And it better be on the switch.
The game is ok and it’s addictive because of nostalgia and the gambling of the pipe (which has problems in its own but that’s not what this review is about) I’m a little disappointed in the multiplayer at the moment. I was surprised that the mechanic of only 3 or so characters could get 3 items and have a frenzy was still a thing. I think a better option would to give everyone three items but make the chances of having a frenzy higher for the characters that go along with the map. Second I know it’s still glitchy because it’s still in testing but the ones I’ve seen are items disappearing, “teleporting”, and freezing. I know since it’s online that much can’t be done about the freezing; but when the round starts I don’t understand why there’s a chance of being at the starting line for up to a minute waiting for a countdown. Everyone is already in the lobby and has chosen their carts why can’t the race start Second part of my complaints Why the limitations on coins and xp? I understand that they don’t want people to be op but three hundred coin limit per day is a little stingy especially when the store changes everyday and even gliders cost up to 500 coins alone. Also 80% of the time the store is just filled with items you already have ,and so is the pipe ,I don’t think I should be able to spend rubies and get over 3 duplicates especially since they are so hard to get
My feelings towards this game are sort of a love and hate type of thing. In the beginning I loved it more for nostalgic reason than anything else, but that only lasted but so long. I eventually developed a hate for game bc I realized in order to stay competitive I’d have to spend real money something I was not willing to do, so I stopped playing all together. Fast forward some months later I began playing again, and I dreadfully decided to get the gold pass, and even made a few random purchases on ruby’s, and a couple other small bundles which I admit it got me excited to keep playing again, but eventually it felt stagnant once again only this time it cost me money. I get it they have to make money that’s not really my problem with the game. My problems are one being the whole raffle based spending of your rubies (which you more than likely paid for) the odds you get anything useful are super slim. Two I don’t like how you can’t level up off racing alone, the whole needing point tickets (which are super hard to get) to level up karts, glider’s, and characters that you’ve already earned (or paid for) is just a bit ridiculous. Last the cups are all the same maps just randomized with one new themed course ran again and again paired with the same characters in new outfits. I wish they offered different elements and actual modes of gameplay instead.
Mario Kart Tour is incredible fun to play, up to a point, but the algorithm is deliberately set up in such a way that it becomes increasingly difficult to win any tour, challenge, or competition, unless you are prepared to fork out nearly £20 pm for a "gold pass". Not only is this a large amount of money to be handing out on a regular basis, it's a rather cynical move by the developers to pressurise the gamer into paying this exorbitant sum in order to remain competitive. Sad.
Mario Kart tour was a very fun game when it first launched in late 2019. I've been a gold pass member from the start. As of May 2021, this whole system that updates every two weeks trying to get as much rewards and highest score possible to keep up with the weekly competition is very old. The Gameplay is good, the multiplayer is decent. But all this repetitive gameplay every two weeks go by eventually get really boring. I did have fun for 1.5 years at least.
Version 3.0: Pipes are gone, so sad. Multiplayer is a mess (my shells hit, but cause zero slowdowns, but theirs slow me down). Mii racers are butt-ugly and expensive. Gameplay is very basic: rocket starts and sliding to steer and tapping to activate powerups: that's all. Graphics are cute, but there are too many things to buy and to level up to try to get a competitive score. Pay to win is worse than ever. It may not be entertaining enough to keep going through the motions after 3 years.
I have been playing for 3 years. I have loved this game! However I'm finally coming to leave a review because the new update is terrible! The high end daily shop is WAY TO EXPENSIVE! Not a huge fan of battle mode for ranked either... but my biggest complaint is the new store and how the pipes were taken away. I've seriously considered canceling my gold pass subscription which really makes me sad. I've spent 3 years collecting drivers, karts, and gliders. Please go back to pipe pulls!!!!!!
"A communication error occurred, try again later." Download this game, spend more time waiting for or looking at that error message than playing in multi-player. Bonus, you don't get the coins for waiting in the lobby when this happens. When you can get into a lobby it'll screw you by putting 6 players in Teams of 2 and 4 instead of even 3. Somehow it's become even worse in 2025.
I really wish my experience with this game was better. The game keeps constantly crashing! Says....Communication error! Also its glitching alot where shells I throw are not effecting other drivers but then i get lots thrown at me and it slows me down for what feels like forever. None of the items in the item boxes are working for me so what is the point? If it is not serving its purpose. I really don't want to uninstall but I don't see what the point is anymore. I had to cancel my gold pass!
