I love the kangaroo home security app! Im not so happy about the fact that I have to pay for basic services now. I had used this service in 2022 without a fee and gladly recommended to everyone who was inquiring about an affordable, easy to use type of security system that has professional & knowledgeable, friendly customer service. It was a no brainer to tell them to look up the kangaroo app. I've never been disappointed. Also, I love the option to dismiss the alert.!! Thanks
Not good, not bad. App fails to record most things, motion or sound. Had it for about a year now and I'm done with its bull. Yes, I turned the sensitivity up and drew the detection boxes, yet still it fails to record most motion and sounds. You're better off getting something a little more expensive, as you get what you pay for. Kangaroo is probably one of the lowest tiers of security camera available. Keep that in mind if you're considering buying one.
Its ok. I understand its a start up security company but as far as your motion sensors go, not the best method. Your 3M tape rips off paint and the wall. If you have customers that are in apartments or someone who's about to move you need something less invasive and that's easily removable to adjust when needed. The 3M tape has to go. It's not the best method. Otherwise the app is ok, notifications are good. We'll see from here. Use velcro maybe?
Idk about this camera system! It only detects ppl if they are on your front step basically knocking. It doesn't show or detect movement around it. Like Ring does. Ring you can set the distance on motion alerts. Also the recoding isn't consistent, its captures like every sec. It not like a constant video! Maybe with more time,it'll get better. I'll do an update in a few weeks,to let you know if things get better!
A mess. Kangaroo sells you on price, and the entry monitors work well. However, they seem to do a particularly good job coming out with products that don't work as intended, and they hype them up a lot. The privacy camera has been a disaster. Every time it updates the image is upside down. The app is broken and you can't contact support through it. Their support tries to help but it's just too many issues. I should've stuck with Simplisafe.
The Kangaroo doorbell camera is buggy, unreliable (at best), and it eats batteries like they're going out of style. But you get what you pay for and it was only $25, so I didn't expect much. But I DID expect the app to be more user-friendly! There's no alert or warning when the camera batteries are low/dead. Notifications that I've already dismissed appear again randomly. Plus, the notification is SUPER loud for only this app but there's no option to change it anywhere in the app settings!
Right now, my doorbell camera is half useless. I can't leave motion detection on without getting a notification every time a car passes on the road (well outside of the 8 ft. motion zone it's set to). My images are totally blown out no matter what setting I have it on, and half the time the gif misses the person who rang the bell or walked up to the door. It's kind of a mess. Really hoping the eventual update clears up some of these issues. I'll update if it does.
I didn't expect much because of the price, but it STILL managed to disappoint. All I wanted was a way to see who's at my door. Instead, I get notifications for every car, cloud, and leaf ... but it certainly doesn't detect any actual people on my porch. The 0 negatives are actively DECREASING my safety. I have excellent WiFi and a very close router; that's not the issue. The app itself is terrible -- I can't review more than a handful of the (useless) notifications without it crashing.
Horrible. Setup was pretty easy. However, it doesn't operate well. Was vacuuming the house and it detected it as the fire alarm going off multiple times. Pin code wouldn't work after alarm goes off, when it worked just fine before. Had to try the same code 7 times, then it finally took it. Invited someone else in my house to the system and was never able to get them setup. Got this free with my home insurance. It's not even worth keeping for free. It's going in the trash.
After having this system for approx a year, and the alarm going off several times in the middle of the night - claiming a door was opened (when it wasnt), changing our modem/router to Arris mod and the system not recognizing it, contacting customer service 3x only to be told they are aware of the "incompatible" software update (which made our console worthless)...so we are canceling our subscription to this service and going with another company. Sadly, Kangaroo just didnt work for us!
This doorbell is a disappointment and a big failure. First, they make animated pictures, not movies. They are short in time, blurry, impossible to recognize anything!!! After the picture is taken and the notification is sent, the app says "preparing photo" by the time the picture actually loads, the person already rang 5 times. Again, the quality of the moving pics are horrible. Not to say very disappointing that there's no live feed.... Trash 🚮
Didn't inform me that I had to upgrade when i purchased the unit to see my videos. It takes too long to upload the 2-3 second videos when the motion sensor is set off. Drains my cell phone battery pretty quickly. Can't delete all images from cloud either. Sometimes I don't get alerts until the next day. Very disappointed with this product. I wouldn't recommend this product especially for any security purposes.
I originally purchased this to avoid monthly fees with a home security company, but now I'm realizing you get what you pay for. It stopped working and sending notifications. I changed the batteries and it still doesn't work. I contacted customer service and their solution is to pair it, but that also didn't work. Perhaps this product upfront works for a few months, then pretty much useless. Go to another provider from the beginning unless you are only looking for a few months or service.
Well, you get what you pay for. The app is not useful at all and it honestly comes with a few directions basically to set it up. When you use the help feature on the app, every common question you pick leads to a page that won't load so please don't expect an easy answer. Although it says that you can pause it while you're running in and out it will not pause and I still haven't found where you even do it besides taking out the batteries. Save yourself the headache and spend a few extra dollars.
This app started out great but now it no longer send push notifications to my phone. I have tried to log out and back in but that does no good. What's the point in the motion detector not I'm not notified when it detects motion? Save your money, buy the more expensive doorbell. At least then you will get warned when people are on your porch.
Bad security system, just get something a little more expensive. For $50 more you could get something that actually works. The pictures from the doorbell never load, the tone barely plays when it's rung, and the camera captures cars driving by even on the lowest setting. I'm disappointed with the product. So, go spend that extra cash and return this thing. You'll be happy you did.
I've used the door cam for about 3 yrs now and I don't find it any easier to know when someone is at my door. The images and gifs take forever to load if they do, it's just a doorbell at this point the camera is useless (my wifi isn't the issue, the router is in the same area). Update- I uninstalled it to reinstall and now I can't get signed in the app is taking too long to load after the code is input. I'm definitely regretting my purchase.
Didn't work. It wouldn't connect with the device. Upon reloading it, it would not send a verification code. After chatting with tech support, reloaded it the next day, same problem. Chatted with them again and they said to delete the app and wait again. The next day (today) it won't load onto my phone at all. Still waiting for an email from tech support.
decent quantity but a little buggy. camera disconnects often, creating hours of downtime unmonitored and no Livestream available. Even when it's connected, recording often cuts off as the subject enters frame, missing the important bits... after recording nothing for 25 seconds. App claims that with paid sub you can extend recording time from 30 to 60 seconds but I paid and I don't have that option in the app. Customer service reply-email doesn't work, undeliverable. Badly made help forms.
