Can be great but can also bite you. The hot deals and pay now options are awesome, but can change minute to minute. So if you and a friend are booking the same hot deal you need to make sure it's booked at the same time, because they can disappear within 10min. Major gripe: so you've been saving your points for a nice course? Well sometimes your points are worth half the normal rate. Because reasons..
Convenient app can be difficult when you have too cancel a tee time. Being able to schedule a tee time and add your friends in the app is great. Allows them to also pay for their portion of the round. But, if a friend does no show and doesn't pay on the app. Your forced to pay for the left over spot. Easier to call the golf course for the tee time and those that show up for only their round. Get good offers. Got free 3 months of XM radio for the car, no credit card needed in some offers.
I will say the app works fine and is easier to navigate than most outdated golf course websites. It could be an awesome app if there was more local courses. The biggest reason for the negative rating is the few course that are available (for me) have minimal discounts. One course is usually $25 for 9 holes, so a group of 4 is $100 even. The discounted price is closer to $22 and then once you add the fees this app charges, the total is somewhere around $104.... makes zero sense to use this app.
App works fine, but my low review is due to recent changes to the Hot Deals. Within the last month, the taxes on hot deals have been very high, whereas they used to be zero. For example, a $40 hot deal will have $3.50 in fees and another $4+ in taxes, but a regular deal has $0.25 in taxes. All the hidden costs seem very misleading to me. Also, some of the best promo codes only work on hot deals Mon-Thurs after 12pm. Which is almost impossible to take advantage of.
When I saw my total cost it was already too late to back out, also the only initial"perk" applied was the return of $6 service charge. Also the last time I booked a tee time (for 2) I was told in the pro shop that I was booked as a foursome. ( I Forgot to check if I was charged for 2 or 4 golfers). I've used this app for years with out a problem, although I'm not sure if I got any of the extra membership perks then either.
It's a nice app and makes it easy to book at courses. However I'm finding paying for Plus is pretty much a scam. Yes, it's great the fees are waived. However, you can only use your monthly credit on "hot deals". You can only use refund credits on "hot deals". You can only use any promo on "hot deals". You also can only use your points on, you guessed it, "hot deals". I won't be renewing. Most people have certain times they can golf, hot deals are never on those times.
an endless barrage of "an unexpected error has occurred" when you try to book a tee time, try to add a payment method after the app loses them when you try to book. I have lost several tee times because of this. nonsense fees and you don't really gain a damn thing. avoid being nicked and dimed for "convenience" and either book directly online or call. app isn't worth it if you're not paying them extra for a sub for *checks notes* "no fees".
Customer Service is a joke, they're hard to get a hold of but quick to charge and take your money. I definitely only recommend this app to look at tee time but never to book through. My tee time got changed when I confirmed my booking but I'm unable to get a refund since they say it was within 24 hours, an absolute joke and scam of an app.
Dont waste your money booking on this app, if there's any issues you can't get through to a rep for assistance. I recently booked a time for a course. it started raining with some thunder and lightning so I didn't show. 3 days later I was double charged full price for the course. When I try and contact for reimbursement there's no way to do so. The help pages they offer just keep circling you around with no actual way to contact someone for a refund.
I used to love this app and had no issue paying for the membership, but things changed . It never works right. I have cancelation insurance, so I can cancel until an hour before my tee time. You used to get 100% of your points back, but now you only get about 10% back. So what the hell am I paying for. In addition, it hasn't been working, can't even see available tee times anymore. I will NOT be using it and definitely won't be renewing my Golf Pass membership next year.
This app used to be great. With the covid golf craze, tee times are gone before they're even available, here on GolfNow. On top of that, everytime I find a tee time I want, I go through the process to book, and when I hit Make Reservation, an error ALWAYS pops up saying, "tee time is no longer available, or there has been an error." It's 99% errors, and I have to call customer service to recognize the apps error and manually remake it.The service is much more frustrating than it is helpful.
Your policy changes have led me to cancel my premium membership and to not use the app any longer. When booking a time and you cancel (even when the cancelation is more than 24 hours) they just credit your account. That sounds ok if i can use that credit for all other tee times. You can only use it for hot deals! This is an absolute rip off and will not be using your application again.
This app is terrible. When you select a hot deal it says "Unexpected Error" or "tee time no longer available." It happens with a lot of golf courses you try to select. And it is happening to several people we know. We called customer service about this and tried to escalate the issue but they just ignored us and never returned our call. I'm an IT person myself and have never seen such a poorly functioning app. Now there is another problem. Credit card information keeps disappearing.
I'd suggest avoiding this app completely. I was somehow opted in to "GolfPass" for $9.99 a month, and I didn't notice right away. I phoned in, they say they don't do refunds and chastised me for not noticing the charge sooner. I never opted in to it, but they told me no one opted into it for me, so I must have. Sure. It's my mistake, somehow, and it's on me, but just take heed -- their customer service is not concerned with your complaint, and they have no issue with misleading you.
Does not work. I have a card on file. Every time I try to book and "pay now" it says there's an error and that the tee-time is no longer available, but if I choose pay later it forces me to add a new card, and then simply says an error occurred while adding the card. The pay now does successfully place the hold on the card I have on file, FYI, but the tee-time never gets booked. At this point, I hop onto the website, login, and book my tee-time without incident. Your Android team needs help.
terrible refund policy. Only allows a very small percentage of your refund credits to be applied for the next tee time. on 180$ only 10$ was allowed to be used on the next tee time. I need to play 18 times to recoup my credits. much better off booking direct, it's often cheaper and you pay at the course with much more flexible rescheduling policies.
Booked a 5:40 PM tee time w/ the app, and despite receiving a confirmation from GolfNow and paying the booking fee, the course never got the reservation. The course was able to accommodate us, but the tee time was a half hour later and we were not able to take a cart as a result. My biggest issue is that there seems to be no way to contact someone regarding issues. I don't care about the $5 lost convenience fee, there just has to be an easier way to report things when users encounter a problem.
It does not allow you to use a gift card balance to pay. If you use the website, it just gives you an error when you try to make the reservation. Have to call GN to find out why reservation will not be accepted or why you cannot use your balance. (Update-after two months they have fixed most of the issues with gift cards. Spent a lot of time on phone support trying to figure out some of the error messages. N.B. no one is available for phone support on the weekends. )
good luck booking anything. Last 6 tee times tried to book there were issues. First one Golf Now was selling times on Sundays for a location that is apparently closed on Sundays. Oh by they way a week later and still pending refund. Then the next 2 tee times magically disappear when trying to pay. Then tried to book a 9 hole tee time. tried 3 times. They too disappear during payment process. But you know what. Its still available for 18 holes for that time. This app has one job, it failed.
