I don't usually bother with app reviews, but this one's a keeper. I needed something to track my Wi-Fi usage and speed to see if I could ditch the crazy $300 cable bill and figure out what speeds I actually need instead of the cable company telling me what I need. This app is absolutely perfect! To my surprise, it's completely free (for now) with no annoying ads or pop-ups. It runs smoother than butter! Kudos to the creator and the company for offering this wonderful app, especially at no cost!
App looks cool and the idea it's great. However, I'm not sure if it has the option to see individual connections created by an app. It would be amazing to be able to see and block connections for each app instead of blocking the whole app. Something similar to netstat, I almost purchase the $99 version of this app, but that keeps holding me back. Haven't tried windows version so I have to check that one too before purchasing.
The new update spoilt an extremely good app. The stats were very easy to understand, now they are so difficult to. Plus the 1 minute, 5 minute and 30 minute views were very important, in case you had a sudden spike in your data use or just downloaded something you wanted to check it's real download size. I had to get the old version from apkfun. Things are better now.
I've used this app for several years and it is the best I've found. 😊 For the first year, I used it on a pay-as-you-go data plan and helped me stay within my data limits, with (silent) alarms. But now I have unlimited data and I still use it frequently just to check things out. One can choose to view a month, or a week, or a day, or custom. It's easy to switch between the different granularities.😊 But I wish it also had a 6-minute or live dial/graph like Ookla speed test.🤨 Doug
No way to block an app from just using mobile data. I want to block some apps from using mobile data but I still want them to have access to wifi. Apparently you can do this by making different profiles but you have to physically open the app and change the profile. There should simply be an option to block just mobile data, or block wifi, or block both for each app. Of course Andoid should have that functionality built in but, don't get me started about Google's frequent failings.
They've ruined this app. A year ago I used to use it to see what apps were spamming my connection when I was gaming so I could kill them and be lag free. I got a new phone and updated the app a couple months ago to discover that they've put the "speed meter" (i.e. the ticker that shows you inbound/outbound traffic) behind a paywall! And not only that, you can no longer see what's been using your connection in the past minute, or 10 minutes, the closest you can go is by the past 4 hours. Trash.
Free version doesn't have any of the features you'd want, those will all require a subscription to unlock. That said, I'd be happy to make a one-time purchase to unlock the 'Pro Features' but don't like the idea of a subscription, regardless of the current price. Sure it may be $4.99/year right now, but once next year rolls around what if it's more and my cc is automatically charged?
I will give Two stars for good data info. But something is not right about the claims. I installed it and tried to block certain browsers, and the app clearly said under the firewall heading, "Network access blocked". However, this turned out not to be 0. Every browser I tried to block could still access the internet. It didn't matter how I set the firewall setting for these browsers. They could always connect. So much for blocking apps from accessing the network. Uninstalled immediately.
Great app! This is the best data usage all I've ever used on Android. First of all I love the ability to see what's been using data within a time as small as the last minute. And the notifications when an app first hits the internet. The UI is extremely pleasing to look at as well. I want to buy one of the skins just to support the dev because of how wonderful this is! If you need something for data usage look no further! And it is still great today!
Have used Glasswire for several years and it has always provided a great service. However the Premium subscription fee was taken in January for all the features that are now available for free. You can't say the move to free features wasn't in the works at beginning of the year. May I please get my subscription fee back?
I like and wanted to ability to see what apps were connecting out and track down which one was generating some issues but this doesn't show everything. I have some that are connecting out but they aren't identified. You get a thousand foot view which is okay but not what I was looking for. Overall it's a good app for most traffic but I need more details.
Awesome app that gives you easy access to information pertaining to data usage. I love being able to see how much data is being used in real time simply by pulling my notification bar down. You can even see how much data each app uses individualy, broken down by data/wifi with dates. Subscribed to the app and use it near daily as a reference after daily, weekly, and monthly data usage.
