This app is trash. I travel for work, and I find myself in areas/situations where I won't have internet for prolonged periods of time. So, I rely on downloaded-offline content quite a bit. I set my app to download a five season series. I also tried it on many different internet connections with the same result. The app simply refuses to download in a reasonable manner. I shouldn't set it to download and come back hours later only to find out that 1.2GB of data was actually downloaded.
I just renewed my subscription and wanted the bundle offer, of which I was not given as a choice. I'm having to pay my Disney and Hulu separately, and I don't get any additional channels without using the add-on feature to ADD to the price. Also, there is the issue of having to constantly log in or not connecting at all on all my devices.
Can't use at all, constantly getting the "Regional error" code, despite being in one of two locations where I have always used it. And YES, both those locations are in the US. Doesn't work from my laptop either, despite being direct from the site. trying to get to the help section is impossible and usually sends me back to the useless inaccessible home page. Not to mention the commercials that pop up despite paying for the highest tier to have no commercial interruption.
This used to be much higher, but now it's down to this. I reinstated my subscription to Disney+ and Hulu bundle but for some reason, the app won't load on any of my devices! I reached out to tech support on 7/31/25 and they have yet to get back to me. I am very disappointed by the lack of support to its users and poor workings of Disney's technology.
I wanted to watch the Wonderful World of Gumball. Brand new content, which they'd want people to watch and like. Ads play before it starts. After the 10 second intro. Before the credits. For every episode, and they're only 11 minutes long. But what makes it extremely unbearable, is sometimes the ads break it entirely. The episode will stop loading, or the ad will play over the episode itself. It can't stream its own content, the one thing you pay for it to do.
I had Disney+ when it first started, and it was great no ads, just disney stuff. But when now with the contest ads and all the other stuff, it is ridiculous. Also, when they added hulu and ESPN, it has all of there content too if I wanted them, I would get on those apps. Yes, paying 1 price for them is nice, but they should still leave the contents on those platforms, not all on each platform. When I open disney, I just want to be on disney or movies, not Sports and hulu. Separate on everything.
Always a problem with Disney trying to login. I've waisted more time trying to figure out why I get so many error messages trying to login. We just upped our subscription to include Hulu and what happened when I tried to stream something? "Something went wrong. please clear the cache and try again". so I did and? same frigging error message! you have error message and problems getting to actually watch your content then any other streaming app we have including prime video, Netflix, etc, etc !!!
The app used to be good, but now the audio will randomly go out and the play speed will be fast-forwarded. There's no way to correct it. I've tried closing the app, clearing the cache, uninstalling the app, and reinstalling it. Nothing corrects the issue. You would think Disney would want to fix this so that when they get rid of the Hulu app, Bob or whoever replaces him won't have to explain to the board why everyone hates their app that has never been truly profitable.
The ad-supported tier is horrible. There are multiple ads before an episode, after the opening credits, and multiple times during. There are ads after the episode & before the end credits so you have to watch more ads before watching the next episode...which, of course, begins with more ads. I got rid of cable due to the ad overwhelm. I had three more months left of Disney+ & Hulu bundled at only $2.99 a month & I cancelled it. This service sucks. I couldn't imagine paying full price for this.
App is horrible! I have the plan with ads. It never remembers where I left off anytime I go to resume watching something. I have to write down where I left off so I don't forget. If u try to resume watching something, it just plays ads and starts over from the beginning. The 10 second skip options hardly ever work. U can't skip ahead back to where you left off half the time as it plays ads and starts over again. What a joke!
Ever since the MyDisney account rollout, there has been NOTHING but problems with Disney+ and Hulu when logging into our account. It's unusable on mobile and randomly logs out on our Roku device. I haven't been able to use the app for over a month on my phone since login just throws a "Something went wrong. Try again?" error. EDIT: I have tried troubleshooting this problem. It isn't a playback issue, I literally can not log in on mobile at all.
App works great! I cannot only afford the ad supported payment plan. I understand that ads will be subsiding my monthly fee. However, is it really necessary to have up to 4 or 5 1:30 to 3:00 mins advertisements during a show that lasts about 24 mins? I know movies and shows are expensive. But Disney is richer than many countries out there, surely there is a better balance to be found. One that doesn't break the bank or ones peace of mind watching the same 2 ads again & again-ad infinitum.
2025 review: freezes up. Havent been able to use it on my smartTV for 2 days now as it's just stuck on the Disney+ screen and won't load any further. Same thing happened on my phone for 2 days. I had to uninstall/reinstall on my phone to get it working. Not sure what I'm supposed to do about my TV. Unsubscribing, again. 2022 review: The app is extremely glitchy. It often won't play. Half the time it won't work with my Chromecast. Doesn't matter which device I switch to. Very frustrating.
Ads expected, but need improvement. If you miss the first few seconds after an ad and back up, you have to watch ALL the ads again, you can't skip repeating ad blocks like you can with other apps. Also, the ads are louder than the show, like 3-5 clicks louder, just like broadcast TV. There ought to be a law against this, it hurts my ears, and family members with sensitive either ears can hear the show or must cover their ears during ads. I will be first in line for an ad-mute for my device.
The app constantly freezes while watching movies on Google TV. It's not my internet connection because I have a lot of the other major streaming services and they don't have the same issue. The Disney perks pop-up every time a screen changes is extra lame, and it happens at least twice just to put on Bluey. Disney wasn't always this bad, so hopefully it gets better soon before I replace it with a different streaming service. Update to dev: I have uninstalled and reset multiple times, no help.
So many issues. The layout is horrible. The app gives random error messages while browsing, streaming, and watching. Sometimes it continues with what you are doing, sometimes it goes back to the homescreen when an error message pops up. It now refuses to fully connect to Chromecast (I've tried multiple gens and devices). The Disney logo, and the annoying chime, will cast for a minute, then it disconnects with error message. Not calling tech support again; I haven't got 2 hours to waste.
Doesn't seem to matter what device you're using it on, phone, native television app, streaming device, it's complete garbage. Constant "unable to connect" or "Internet not available" messages when every other app works perfectly fine. Video will pause for at least 30 seconds and then fast-forward that entire time in 3 or 4 seconds without audio so you can't actually watch anything.
We love ALL things Disney! The biggest issue we run into (even though we have submitted tickets about it on the website with no resolutions) is the "continue watching" section does resume something where you left off, it restarts from the beginning of the movie or episode. It's just annoying. My rating went from 3 ⭐ to 1 ⭐. Your "fix" didn't work. Today the app is having issues staying connected. When I try to fast forward something from my continue watching section, the whole app crashes.
There are constantly problems with each device we're logged into as a family of 7. Shows/Movies freeze, they will lose sound, and then the movie plays extremely fast, sometimes its the right frame and wrong words. Now it's saying there's too many households and will not allow for me to update it. I now can not access it from my living room. I have logged out of all devices to try and start again but then didn't log anyone out.
This app works like garbage, honestly. The content is only worth the nostalgic classics. I will play a movie, pause it and come back later, and it never resumes from where it was paused. Every single time it starts over from the the beginning and I have to sit through an insane amount of ads to fast forward to my guesstimated spot. If it's past a built in ad break, I'm watching way way more ads than I should have to in order to RESUME a movie. How is it THIS garbage?
Addendum: They added a continue watching and a recommended for you. Increased to 4 stars, now just waiting for new content to see how it goes. I got this app for the bew star wars stuff coming out which is awesome. And it has things from the vault, old cartoons. It has sub sections: star wars/disney/marvel etc. that being said. Theirs things to work on. Theirs no continue watching, you need to either add it to your current watch to the watchlist or search every time. And it wont always remember where you left off especially for shows itll just replay ep 1 however i havent had this issue with movies, it remembers my place most times. It freezes often requiring you to close and reopen the app(ps4) havent had freeze issues on tablet. Itll also freeze and then go back a minute replaying things as it tries to correct itself. The current library is very limited to older disney movies. As i believe other streaming oroviders have current contracts for certain movies they prolly wont be able to add them to disney+ till other hulu/netflix movies are done with their contracts example is a limited marvel movie selection. They have plans to add more shows/movies so i think itll be like netflix where they add and remove shows and movies. When its less buggy I’ll prolly give it 4-5 stars at that time.
I LOVE this app and have really enjoyed introducing my kiddos to all of the classics! I feel like I am a kid again and am in 7th heaven when I come home and ALL of the Disney movies are just waiting for me! My kids love it and everyone has a new favorite show. All of our other streaming services have officially been forgotten so thank you Disney for saving my hard earned money and for putting all of the most amazing movies in one place!! Please do not remove older shows due to older views and fear of offending people. I love all Disney movies and appreciate them for what they were and acknowledge that views have drastically changed over the decades. Some items may be offensive, even to me as a African American woman but as so many other have pointed out these are better used as talking points for our children. We cannot alway run from the offensive history that we have, it happened, and it is better to learn from it than pretend like it has always been perfect (which it is far from perfect today). Also, I really hope we can an area that shows what we are “currently watching” and when I open up the movie it could have the bar that shows how much was completed. I know we have a “watchlist” but it doesn’t help having to search each time.
Does not work on Samsung Android tablet whatsoever. It works on the TV but I've been trying for weeks and the app won't even load on my tablet, just spins indefinitely and occasionally shows an error message. New update didn't fix the problem, either. The TV app is mediocre as well, with a clunky interface. With all their billions of dollars, you'd think Disney could afford the bare minimum: to create a functional and working app. Ridiculous.
How can Disney have so much money and the app be this horrible? Stays on the loading screen most of the time. When I do get past it, there is an error code or it kicks me out when trying to load something. Makes me change my password all the time. It used to work somewhat ok, but the last couple months the app is pretty much useless. I'm giving it one more month to be fixed, then I'm dropping the service. At this point, I'm wasting my money.
We keep getting a spinning blue circle in the center of the screen, all throughout watching any show. Often it stops and buffers for long seconds ... interrupting streaming. It's really irritating. And I have a new phone, have done all of the busual troubleshooting and do not have this issue on any other streaming service. Please fix!!!
The app on every device is constantly updating, constantly requires customer service thats impossible to get actually get ahold of, and I've wasted hours just trying to get it to work. When it works, it constantly crashes, and has a hard playing half of what's on it. The moment you log off an ip address, you might as well delete the app because honestly good luck getting anything to ever work.
At this point in time, I will be giving this app 1 star. It no longer works for me on my device, but it works fine for every other device I have tried it on, except mine. I pay too much for it every month for it to not work. Basically I AM throwing my money away when I pay for Disney+. There have been some really good shows/movies added to the lineup and yet my kids and I cannot watch any of it. I can't rate my experience if I cannot get past the blue screen with Disney on it.
Disney+ is a pretty good app especially for hardcore Disney fans. But there are way too many issues for an app that you have to BUY. To begin, the volume quality is the worst for me. My hearing isn’t the best so I tend to turn the volume for things all the way up. I did this on my NEW computer, and NEW iPad and the volume was very low. The iPad volume was a bit better but still not as loud as I wanted and/or anticipated. Furthermore, it keeps recommending the same few amount of shows, movies etc. I want to be able to find new things to watch easier. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a hardcore Hamilton fan and I am pleased to see it on the main page, but everything else keeps getting recommended on and on and on. Continuing from Hamilton, this is not a necessary addition but I would like to see more musicals. It already has Hamilton and Newsies, and I enjoyed them the most out of anything on the app. But like I said this is an option and I know it’s meant for Disney things, that’s just what I want. There are a couple of more issues but I’m going to leave it on this final opinion, which is the 10 second fast forward button. Most of the time when I fast forward with the 10 second button the screen is just frozen. It happens on all of my devices and it’s quite annoying. Using the scroll bar with mostly my finger is not fun. That’s really all I have to say so I hope you, the reader take these notes into consideration. Take care!
The have a lot of great stuff in the app but the app itself has a lot of bugs. When the screen pops up that says new episode, I try to press it but it does nothing. While playing a video, you have to be careful where you touch or else it will exit out of the video even if you touched nowhere near the back button. The play button buffers. Not the video, but the button itself. There are times when I want to pause the video/movie and I can’t because I have to wait for the play button to buffers. Sometimes the app just crashes for almost no reason. I’ll be watching something like The Simpsons and the app will just crash. Don’t get me wrong, it is not a bad app, it just needs some major improvements. They do have a lot of stuff on there. I personally have watch led a lot of their classic movies and the Disney+ originals. I recommend The World According to Jeff Goldblum and High School Musical: The Musical - The Series (i am a big High School Musical fan). I think Disney just needs to make some much needed changes to the app and fix all of the current issues. Also, in my opinion, they should add some of the ABC shows like Once Upon a Time or Blackish or Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. They should also make certain shows like The Simpsons the original aspect ratio. With certain older shows and movies, you miss some key details showing it in a 16:9 aspect ratio rather a 4:3 aspect ratio.
I grew up watching many a Disney shows. Signed up for Disney, most of them are not available. The ones that are, not available in my language (or a decent selection at all.. Ebglish and Spanish only, really?)There are official dubs that were aired on public television DECADES ago already, and Disney+ only has English for most of the shows IF they are even on there to watch. At least they finally have the Clone Wars (magnificent animation as always Tartakovsky is magnificent) but I had to wait for that as well. The app will crash/freeze if you hit the rewind button too often (not for people that like watching specific scenes again and again), and there is no option to either loop a video (Yes, I would like to have Biomes and Vehicle on in the background while I work/sleep), or to make it stop asking “are you still there” so at some point it will stop playing and if you have loud neighbors throwing on Dinsney+ to tune them out whilst you sleep is not an option. The quality of the videos themselves is top notch though, (volume could be louder, but visuals are GREAT). But, seriously, why own the rights to all these shows and not let people see them or make them available anywhere else? I want my nostalgic throwback to before. 3 STARS: because they’re sitting on the content they own, and deriving people of content that used to be readily available decades ago (used to be with basic cable for free, and now you get to pay and not see them)

How can Disney have so much money and the app be this horrible? Stays on the loading screen most of the time. When I do get past it, there is an error code or it kicks me out when trying to load something. Makes me change my password all the time. It used to work somewhat ok, but the last couple months the app is pretty much useless. I'm giving it one more month to be fixed, then I'm dropping the service. At this point, I'm wasting my money.
Ridiculous.
Take care!
3 STARS: because they’re sitting on the content they own, and deriving people of content that used to be readily available decades ago (used to be with basic cable for free, and now you get to pay and not see them)
Addendum: They added a continue watching and a recommended for you.

3 STARS: because they’re sitting on the content they own, and deriving people of content that used to be readily available decades ago (used to be with basic cable for free, and now you get to pay and not see them)
App works great!

The app on every device is constantly updating, constantly requires customer service thats impossible to get actually get ahold of, and I've wasted hours just trying to get it to work. When it works, it constantly crashes, and has a hard playing half of what's on it.
How can Disney have so much money and the app be this horrible? Stays on the loading screen most of the time. When I do get past it, there is an error code or it kicks me out when trying to load something. Makes me change my password all the time. It used to work somewhat ok, but the last couple months the app is pretty much useless. I'm giving it one more month to be fixed, then I'm dropping the service. At this point, I'm wasting my money.
Ridiculous.
I LOVE this app and have really enjoyed introducing my kiddos to all of the classics!
Ridiculous.
