App functionality is mostly fine, but EVERY TIME an update is pushed out (last on April 2nd), it removes the app from my phone's homescreen. It remains installed, and can be readily found by going to the app drawer, but it deletes itself from my homescreen app folder/stack where I keep my banking apps. This has happened for around a year. Uninstall/reinstall did not fix issue. It is unaffected/unchanged by OS updates. No other apps behave this way. Galaxy S23Ultra. Android is up to date.
The app allows you to do so many things without having to be redirected or referenced to another site or program. I can view my balance, schedule payments, see my credit score, contact customer service (and have real-time discussions!), request a line increase, etc. I realize that a lot of apps allow users to do these things, but it's how streamlined the Discover app is that sets it apart from the rest.
By far my favorite credit card app. I wish all credit card apps would change to this format. It's easy to use, gives you all the information up front, and has notifications for everything you could ask for. They notify you ahead of time that your payment is going to be due, how much is going to be due and how much your balance is. You can set a limit if you regularly use the card and it'll notify you if a purchase exceeds your limit and it's all in real time. No waiting for slow emails/texts.
Have had no issues whatsoever with the app. I can log in in seconds using a pin I set. Discover, as a bank, has been fantastic to me, and an app like this is exactly what I'd expect to see from them. UPDATE 2021: App remains fantastic. No issues. Had to call customer support once in the past year to increase the amount I could withdraw from an ATM and they were highly efficient and friendly and everything was done in minutes.
Nice app! I love being able to access my credit card and checking account from the same application. However, I don't like having to enter two different login credentials, i.e. a PIN for credit card and a username and password for checking/ debit card. Maybe, I'm missing something, but is it a glitch that I have to verify myself with a six-digit code EVERY time I log-in to checking? FYI: I'm a new customer. [Update 4/2/21] Quick view doesn't work.
I really like the fact that when you enroll you get like a month at least without a statement! It's really convenient to use the app! Also, you get text reminders when you set it up in the app to text you, every time you make a purchase. The APR isn't as high as the other credit cards that's why I use Discover It. The card was created for people trying to build credit and not having to deal with high interest rates! So over all thank you discover you have done a great job with this one!
This app is pretty nice. My issue with it, however, is the fact it won't let you enter your banking information on it. I had two returned internet payments (after entering the info correctly 2 times) and decided the issue probably lay within the fact that I entered my banking info on the app. Sure enough, when I tried entering the same info on my laptop it was fixed. $54 is a lot of money to waste on an app error.
The credit card is great, love the cash back and the details. The app is one of the worst ones I've experienced. A good 85% of the time, I cannot even log into my account, always stalling on the sign in page. Then the few times I can get in, I cannot change my address, or look at my rewards without an "unexpected error" to occur.
The app is very easy to use. The only issue that I have. And it's a big issue. That the monthly interest rate is not included in the activity field. I had opened my account an used a balance transfer offer. But I thought that I had one year of zero APR on purchases too. I had no idea I was paying a 22.99 APR. I would have been much more carefull, had I known. It is only visible if you look at the monthly statement. Which I dont do cause I monitor all my accounts thru the apps on my phone.
One of the best apps I've used! Granted it takes a couple days to update your account, but it shows all your payment info right then! Couldn't ask for a better charge card app!! After reading the other reviews it's very simple to navigate if you want to pay your balance in full just click on current balance when making a payment... if you can read and follow instructions then this is a great app lol!!!!.. I have biometrics on my account and have never once had a problem with it!
It seems the majority of the bugs are fixed. My only request is to make it possible to view savings, checking, and credit accounts without closing and reopening the app. 10-18-20 As of at least a couple days ago I'm no longer able to easily switch between my bank account and card account. You have I log out and sign back in using the other account logins. What happened discover? Other companies are making access easier and you are going backwards.
Over all this app is great, and user friendly! My only issue is that it REQUIRES updating way to frequently, and each time it does, the app takes up more storage space on my device. For someone with limited storage, you'll have to find something to delete or uninstall on your device each time before you can update it, or else it won't work.
Called to change some personal info & found out they still had my old HACKED number associated with my account. When I updated number, I didn't stutter when I told them to remove the hacked one, but here we are 8 mo. or so later & that number was still on my account. Got that removed. Coincidentally, my credit score dropped 12 points. I ALWAYS pay on time. Paying on 2 phones apparently isn't enough, they want me deep in debt for a better score! Looks around ppl. There are better cards out there
For the last few weeks the app has not been opening for me. It just says "We're sorry. Something went wrong. Please close the app and try again." I really liked the app. So this is super frustrating. I've restarted the app. I've restarted my phone (s25 Ultra). Un-installed and reinstalled. Nothing changes. Still get the same generic error. Saw there was an update and downloaded that. No dice.
Every time lately that I try and log onto this app, it always gives me an error saying I need to close the app and try again. And does this continuously no matter how many times I close the app and try again. it's getting super frustrating to not be able to log in! I have submitted reports and it still constantly does this. How am I supposed to pay my bill if I can't login to do so!
I wish I could freeze my card until I want to unfreeze it. instead they force it to be unfrozen every single week. therefore, I have to go in and refreeze my credit card every single week. it's frustrating. discover is the only credit card that refuses to lower my interest every rate. even though I have over 800 credit score. they do have good perks but I don't think it's worth it.
The credit card side of it is fine, but the banking side needs a bit of help. The widget doesn't show my bank balance, and the account balance texts i signed up for show me YESTERDAY'S balance. It's almost as if discover isn't actually the bank, and they're having to wait for a third party (the actual bank) to send them the information. Also, the app isn't the simplest to navigate. I'm fairly computer savvy, and it still takes me a bit to find what I'm looking for sometimes.
Works for its intended use, but can be deceiving when submitting payments. I've had a handful of payments decline because my Discover app homepage showed that my payment had cleared, processed and was all set, only to find that they hadn't even pulled the money yet. Definitely very inconvenient, which is counterproductive to the purpose of the app because at that point I'd rather just mail cash so I know it's actually been paid
Only fair if I chime in with everyone else's reviews. Ever since this app has had its latest update, its been so difficult to log in. Constant errors. Makes me so nervous about paying my bill, and I hate making phone calls and talking to a ridiculous machine. Fix your app for the sake of your customers! We've dealt with the login issue long enough!
Altogether, okay. The layout for statements is poor, and the app will turn off biometric login on its own. On 3 occasions now, I've paid my balance on the 29th or 30th, and they won't actually take my payment until the 1st or 2nd of the next month. However, the cashback is good, and the card is accepted just about everywhere. The app is fairly easy to use.
I have several credit cards with different companies. Of those credit cards accounts I hold, Capital One, US Bank and AMEX, Discover not only has the easiest app to navigate and use. I also discovered they also have the most wonderful customer service, especially when one of their account holders has a sudden, unforeseen situation. I am going through a nasty divorce and have been a homemaker dependent on my husband's (considerable) income for the last decade. After filing, I was suddenly being denied any temporary support until my first hearing, four months later. I panicked, and immediately contacted all my credit companies. With the only exception being Discover, every company made me feel as though I were just a lazy consumer attempting to get out of my responsibility, rather than what I actually am, a year-long account holder, with excellent credit, who has never missed a single payment. Four months later, as promised, I paid off my account. I will be a Discover card holder forever. Thank you Discover.
I'm just so in love with this app. I logged in this morning to review my credit portfolio and I'm so thrilled at the updated breakdown feature! Detailing my total revolving debt, my number of inquiries, any late payments, (in the last year verses the last 7 years!!!- WOW) among others! You know what I'm most excited about though? The fact that I know Discover is likely already working on ways to improve on this feature and I already LOVE it so much! So I'm sure I'll be blown away when another update hits. Understanding my credit portfolio is super duper important to me. I'm an AMEX employee and card holder (18 years strong and love my company 100%) but I recall when I chose to get this Discover card it was because you were the first plastic I knew of that would actually give a cardholder access to their Fico score for free! Since then every one has jumped on, but you keep reinventing the game! You're ahead by far, and while others are still showing a bare Fico score, you're giving details that are so relevant and necessary for a customer like myself. You guys are doing great and I'm a fan! ✊
Last two times I went to make a payment, I specifically changed it from the default bank to my work provided bank account. Despite this, it’s taking the money from my default account that is hardly used and doesn’t have the funds to cover. While I’m not sure if this is the company or apps fault, they refuse to fix or change anything, and when trying to use the live chat, it keeps exited me out of the app and even deleted my chat history. Good thing I got screenshots. Then it started me back at the beginning of talking to the virtual assistant, and I lost what little progress I had made talking to the first agent I had before the app closed out on me. I have been charged $70 in overdraft fees from them taking money from the wrong account that I explicitly told them not to do again the first time this happened. Since you’re downloading this app, it’s too late to warn you about the horrible customer service and not choose this credit card, but be prepared to have no solution to your problem after over an hour of trying to deal with representatives through this app. I will be paying off my card by transferring money through my work account to my default account, which I shouldn’t have to do since I paid them just fine in the past, and then closing my account with this horrid company.
I’ve set up FaceID, but for some reason when I click the app, I have to manually click the FaceID button for login. Then, it scans, I get a green check and…nothing happens. It might do it once, then login, or like this morning might keep doing it until I get frustrated and give up. I also wasn’t getting push notifications when I used my card, I checked my settings and the only notification turned off is badges. Turned them back on and I’m getting pushes for my transactions. This is not reasonable. Now I have to log into the app (which doesn’t work correctly) to manually clear out every notification so I don’t have a badge count if I want to continue getting push notifications of transactions. This is just silly. I’m on a fully updated 14 pro, so the issue is certainly the app. I would also like to have an option to view more than one card or account in the app, I have my own Discover and am an authorized user on my husband’s card. There’s no easy way to switch between accounts, so I have to go to the website in order to view or pay my husband’s card. Other credit card apps allow for account switching.
I apply to one of Discover Cards and I was approved with $1000 credit line. Then I was called by one agent to verify my information . I sent them my social security, driver license, proof of address among other documents. So far I was approved and my card was on the way. Then a few days later another person called me asking for the same information to be sent again and telling me that they need that again to approved my request. I thought that it was someone trying to still my identity, so I told that person that I would not send any info again and that they could close my application . Then I call discover to report that issue . They then told me that my account was close because of that call and that they ask for the same document twice and that they could not open my application again . I received my card today because they sent it and when I try to activate the card they told me that the account was close as I requested in that call and they cloud not do anything to reopen that account .
The app allows you to do so many things without having to be redirected or referenced to another site or program. Uninstall/reinstall did not fix issue. It is unaffected/unchanged by OS updates. No other apps behave this way. Galaxy S23Ultra. Android is up to date.

There are better cards out there
App functionality is mostly fine, but EVERY TIME an update is pushed out (last on April 2nd), it removes the app from my phone's homescreen.
