Amazing journal. I love that I can make separate notebooks, customize my entries (underline, bold, bullet points, headings, etc), AND I can use their program via dayone website!( + syncs with little to no issues.) The interface is also very clean and simple! Keep up the great work! :)
I am happy that at least one device can enjoy the basic usage of this journal. I like to write my dreams, stories, and daily life. It does suck that you have to pay in order to have access to other apps, but for one device to have good features. it will be worth it. Will be keeping an eye out on promotional sales so I can have a premium one day.
I'm a documenter but love good old fashioned paper and pen. I didn't think I'd like the switch to a digital version but it's actually helped me stay on top of my journaling so much better. It's quick and easy! Plus I love to attach pictures to my days. When I forget to journal a day, I can go back and flip through the pictures on my phone to jog my memory, I attach the picture then document the day. One of my favorite apps!!
I'm obsessed. I have always been a constant journal keeper and have mostly preferred handwritten books but this app has changed everything for me. I love having multiple journals, some photo-based, and tags as well to keep things organized across time and topics. The synchronization across devices would be better if it werent somewhat delayed, but it's still awesome!! Pricing is great too. Can't recommend highly enough!
Excellent with one exception: you cannot search inside a particular note. Here's how Day One search works - it returns a list of notes that contain your search term. You cannot search INSIDE a note using the Day One app. This is a huge deficiency. To get around this, use your PC to open Day One on the web. However, this does not work from your mobile device. If you try to use a web browser to access the Day One website you are redirected to the app. Bummer.
I've been using this app on my iPhone for over a year now and I love it. I recently switched over to the S25 Ultra and noticed a slight difference between how the font appears on iOS &, how it appears on Android. The default font appears smoothly throughout the ios version, but on android it's not the same. Please fix! The premium cost is still a bit too high in my opinion.
I used to be a frequent user of this app, but over time moved on to different kinds of journal apps that just fit me better. But when it comes to the category of traditional style journal apps, Day One wins the trophy. The ability to add multiple journals, images, location, weather, video, app lock, tags, among other great features + the minimalistic & CLEAN UI is painless to use.
The app so far is pretty great! I've only had it a little over a week so take me with a grain of salt. I have only one complaint thus far and that is when I retype a misspelled word, it auto corrects the word by doubling what I type. for example if I retype "stareotypical" as stereotypical, I would get "stereotypicalereotypical". confusing to relay so I apologize, granted it is twice as frustrating.
So first off, let me give a positive review. I've been using this app for three-four years now, and I'm a fan. This is my journal, and I love it. With that said, it's been glitching a lot lately. The font changes when I'm typing (and when I change the font back, it ignores me) and now my autocorrect isn't working properly and words are stacking on top of each other. Kind of cumbersome really. App is good tho otherwise, just would love to have those bugs fixed :)
Love it on Mac, loved it on my old iPhone, but I'm still waiting for parity on the Android app. I like being able to write in markdown, easily add images, manage multiple journals, and tag entries. The integrations are cool too. The Android app doesn't get much development attention though, and I prefer to journal from my phone and not my laptop, so it's a bummer.
I like plenty of the features in the app, but like others have stated, it's really annoying when words double up while typing. I also wish there were more font options. When I try to alter font size under settings, it doesn't actually change. I'd also like the option to toggle entry previews so I could just choose to view the titles of my journal entries to reduce visual noise.
Not ready for prime time. Used this app for about a half hour, and the incompleteness of it kept adding up. Pretty sure it's still in Beta, so I'll wait for the actual product. My first grievance was that there's no way to change the font. Followed immediately by the "dealbreaker" that there's no way to lock it. Only started exploring the Windows version at this point - it was enough to turn a "maybe" into a solid "no". Also not thrilled about the RENTAL program (can't purchase).
I have lowered my original review due to an ongoing issue where the app and desktop client do not refresh properly. I have lost hours of typed content that is typed in to only go back later to find that when I opened my phone to double check it had copied over it instead Refreshes and erases what I just typed. it's happened considerably enough now that I will probably be looking for a new platform.
Had to downgrade my review. After getting a new phone, I realized my journal had stopped synching with the back up some time ago. I have no idea why. When I requested help from support (just to see if there was any work around), they informed me that they only "support" premium members. Really disappointed to lose several years of journaling.
I was trying out the app and started an entry with just a title. Checked on my phone if it would show up and it did. Went back to my computer and wrote the entry; a couple paragraphs. Went back to my phone, opened the app and it said it was "synced" but the note still had only the title. Shortly after the text disappeared from the computer and returned back to the title only. Safe data sync is a must for this type of app. It's clearly not present or implemented very poorly.
