On it's way! I find this app so useful in making informed choices about what I choose to put on my body or bring into my home. However it has some more work to do regarding the scanning feature. I've tried to use it so many times while shopping and most products are not in the data base and it asks me to put in the info which many times I don't have the time to do. Looking forward to the day it works as easily as the Weight Watchers app!
The app seemed pretty extensive, and I was impressed with the amount of information available on each ingredient. However, after the 1st scan, all information and options were "locked" unless I agreed to a free trial of premium. The option to add your "preferred ingredients" wasn't ever an option, and when cross checked with the Yuka app, it seemed like it was pretty off the mark. (although Yuka is aimed more towards being vegan, etc). Deleted it, but if you're willing to pay, it seems good.
I like the concept, but the longer I've used the app the more frustrating it has become. I've come across items which have more than one rating, or list ingredients that aren't on the actual item. Many of my products don't even appear on this app and I haven't seemed to get very quick results from submitting my own item for them to review. For a lotion I submitted, I listed the name and ingredients, then eventually got back a rating for the same brand but a different scent. App still needs work.
Great when it works. I have found several errors in both the ingredients in particular products and products that don't match the barcode scanned. This makes me have little faith in the accuracy of the information provided about each ingredient. There is a way to report errors in ingredient lists, but not errors in product barcodes. And even when you report errors or add products on your own, there is little communication on if/when the product will be updated/verified.
This app has the potential to be great. I get needing to make money but you get a very limited amount to look at if you don't pay. There are some categories you have no access to unless you upgrade. Upgrading isn't to expensive. I just think allowing what you have for free to actually be available will still keep the customers that can't upgrade. This app seems to only think of the money. Some reviews seem a little fishy. The same day same language just different name.
I have used this app for years and loved that it helped me easily determine whether a product is clean or not. However, the search feature doesn't work great and there seems to be a limited number of products. What's most annoying is that, after being free for years, they have now started charging for basic ratings and their subscription options are confusing. Not worth $200! Im looking for an alternate option
I was looking for an app similar to Yuka, very user-friendly. I can easily scan food items, and it gives a rating and healthy alternatives. This app was not it. Seems like everything is "locked," so I can't even see ingredients without paying for a "premium" version. Not to mention there's a lot of products missing. I'll keep looking.
The most disappointing thing is how few products are reviewed by people and haven't been through manual vetting. The score is given based on the ingredients, but those are user uploaded. If you want to see where a product is available, links only take you to amazon the "keep the app free," but after you pay for it, amazon is still your only option.
A PAY WALL?? I'm absolutely speechless. 90% of the items listed on there are locked behind a subscription now! It wasn't like that before and I just can't. I thought the idea was to spread knowledge about harmful ingredients not make people pay to find out. I'll do my own research then. Was just nice having the convenience of the app. Not anymore.
I previously gave this app 5 stars a few years ago when I first discovered it. Over the years, they have started charging for basic uses that they didn't previously charge for. With the free plan, you can only scan maybe 3 items and get the basic info. After that, they don't show you anything about the product you're trying to get information for unless you upgrade. I can understand charging for additional info beyond the basic score but it doesn't even give you a score! Stupid.
I agree with some other uses. I am tired of being on board with an app. when it starts off and it's great. And then the basic get scaled back just a bit, so then you mak e room to charge. you have to pay 1.99 a week. It may not seem like a lot, but it adds up. that almost an extra 95.52 a year. and to add more 3.49 a week 167.52 a year for lifetime 199.99 a pennies short of 200.00 good grief. i guess it's back to reading the back of the package for me
I loaded the ap and gave way more personal information than I should have to, only to find that the bar-code scanning process did not work. I tried several suppliments (from major national companies), and the scanning could not recognize any of them. I immediately closed the ap and scanned them with the normal bar code reader, and it read them in a second, over and over. It's too bad, as this would have been a useful tool. Very disappointed!
