Super fun to just go through and really try to comprehend the vast size of the universe while also try to realize how tiny things are too. I haven't read many of the descriptions of things yet, so I have so much to learn as well. It would be so cool if there was a VR version/adaptation to this as well, but this is so far great! The control for zooming does have a slight weirdness to it from what I recall, where it would speed up the zoom in/out very slightly the longer I held the zoom. (I like to just zoom slowly in the same direction for a long time and enjoy the scenery and try to imagine the scale of things as they go by).

Just scrolling from the smallest in the universe to the biggest thing we know of is just satisfying... And educational. I miss the days of apps that were paid up front with no subscriptions ads etc. This is totally worth the buy if you have some spare change! The only thing I could ask for is a feature to search for things in the glossary. Thanks Kurzgesagt, you've done a good job on this.

This app is amazing! Very easy to use and is filled with good artwork and facts. Highly recommend it. The only thing I would change would be to make smoke come out of 3 smokestacks instead of 4 on the Titanic to make it historically correct. (Edit) I am so impressed, they actually changed the number of smokestacks with smoke in them in their new update. You guys are amazing at detail. Thanks!

Those of us old enough to remember the 'Scale of the Universe' which was flash based would remember spending hours on end zooming in an out of different orders of magnitude and awing at the effort to have put that together. Kurzgesagt have taken that and moulded it into something so familiar to all of us, their beautiful comical approach with delightful animations and just the right amount of information to keep you wanting more. Consider this app as a starting point into much needed knowledge of scales of things and why things are the way they are. Highly recommended. Especially if you have young inquisitive minds you want to grow. But dont be fooled, this is just as much if not even more fun for adults!

It's an amazing app, it helps you understand how small (or big) we are in the universe, I was definitely impressed with the scales of what's out there in outer space. I loved the explanations, they are very easy to read and have examples that improve everything. The art of the illustrations is very beautiful and the music is relaxing. It is an amazing app if you like to read and are interested in science in general. Completely worth buying, I don't regret it. 😊

AMAZING...in a nutshell. I love everything from these folks! I saw this in a video and had to have it, I was so excited and it hasn't disappointed in the least! I just wish there was a way to go to the videos you have of a thing, if available, when you click on said thing. Like with the bacteriophage, there should be an additional link to watch your video on it. I'm sure you geniuses, or is it genuisi or geni, have it in the works. And one or two, or a dozen birds wouldn't hurt. Thanks!!

I love the YouTube series, so I imagined the app was no less awesome. So far so good!.. BUT, do not purchase if you have MEGALAPHOBIA (it's a thing, dude!). I started zooming in/out, had my little irrational fear going off like CRAZY. Worse than the moon in Majora's Mask! Great app, no doubt. I currently have this pesky irrational fear of large objects triggered by a rather impressive feature of the app, and for that reason, I'm out. No request for refund. I like Kurzges.. yeah, those cats.

Very interesting factoids you can share with others. After the initial download no network connection is required. Especially like the amazing size comparison descriptions (wish there were more). Well worth $2.99 just for conversation fillers, and the money goes to a good cause (education).

Awesome, seriously, it's fun, scientific l, well drawn and animated, the idea is extrodinary, and it's not overly complicated, easy to figure it out in a short amount of time, created by highly intelectual and cool huma- I mean birds and stick figures, and I believe this could last 'till 12032. In conclusion, if I could rate this from 1-5, I'd say Grahams number.

Amazing app. Tons of information but I would not expect anything else from you guys 😊. Quality & presentation always the best. The only thing I would like to say is the experience would be a bit more interactive if I could pan and move the frame around so I can focus on the specific item I want. For now there is a single focal point when you zoom and sometimes not all the info fits on the screen or its kinda too small. Just my personal opinion. Thanks again. You can always count on my support.

Way to go! This is a great little app to showcase the incredible differences in sizes in our universe. Purchased so I can support your team! The zooming action is smooth. The images and interactivity make it fun to scroll around. Our brains do not do a good job of understanding sizes, especially on these scales. This is a great way to keep reinforcing how amazing the universe is.

Great app with great execution overall, it really reminded me of the flash site "Scale of the Universe" made by H2Twins, but in the Kurzgesagt style and with short, but sweet descriptions. As many people have said, I want a smoother framerate/animation option, but keep the current one as another option for people if they need it. I would also like the ability to compare object sizes to each other, and the ability to enter in a diameter/size and see the closest thing that compares. Thanks!

surprisingly fun to zoom in and out and choose random things to learn about. The animation is very smooth and pleasing, which is to be expected coming from the group that made this app. The only gripe I would have is that when zooming in and out with the pinch feature I accidentally hit the small scale at the bottom right and it messes up where I'm at. All in all it just means I'll spend more time in the app which isn't a bad thing. Also the music is very pleasant.

Love this app! Super interesting. I wish I had this when I was in high school learning about chemistry and biology. Helps put a lot of things in perspective like how big is an atom compared to different light waves! Only suggestion for the team is scoot the menu buttons and back button (top left) to the right some more. For newer Samsung phones the camera overlaps with it slightly making it difficult to tap and see.

Totally awesome, in the old school sense of the word. I love being able to zoom in and out of reality to the smallest and largest possible dimensions and that you can learn about every single item. It's truly brilliant, mind boggling, and beautiful (expect for Tim's one suck figure, which is his classic, endearing third grade art)! Buy this app. I very rarely buy apps, but this is worth it. Show it to every human around you, big or small. All of them will enjoy it!

Very interesting app. Lots to learn. I'd recommend adding some sort of comparison feature where you can select 2 or more items and have them specifically compared to one another. For example, It would be cool to see mt. everest on the same plane with central park... Or an oxygen molecule next to the coronavirus... Ya know, for no particular reason...

I first encountered Tim Urban’s work in his TED Talk about procrastination. Then I did exactly what he described in the talk by allowing myself to get distracted from what I was supposed to be doing to follow a trail of bread crumbs of fascinating topic after topic, all explored with humor and enthusiasm in his blog Wait But Why. This app displays the same passion for detail, knowledge, exploration, wonder, and humor. The colors and graphics are beautiful and vibrant without being garish. The music is evocative, but if you prefer silence, you have that choice. A person could get lost in this app in the best way and learn to appreciate the universe in a new way. Even if you know everything already, read the explanations and enjoy Tim Urban’s writing.

I recall seeing science museum exhibit exactly like this when I was a kid. It was one of those memories that I cherish and remember because exploring everything that the world has to offer, both big and small, changes how you think about the world. It's genuinely fun to see the smallest to the largest items in our universe, and learn about everything along the way. Kurzgasagt's Universe in a Nutshell has re-ignited my youthful curiosity and excitement after experiencing this app. It was really enjoyable to explore and play with, and I think it's a WONDERFUL first app for them! I firmly belive the $2 cost is justified because it supports Kurzkesagt, gives you access to the app for life and any future improvements, and is worth the treasure trove of perspective and knowledge it has to offer.

For those of us that fondly remember that classic space film from 1977...that’s right, I’m talking about “Powers of Ten: A Film Dealing with the Relative Size of Things in the Universe and the Effect of Adding Another Zero,” this app is the ultimate expression of the concepts first popularized in that epic saga. Universe in a Nutshell is packed with astounding detail about objects at every scale in our universe (even more than Katamari Damaci!). It’s a collaboration between two of my favorite explainers-of-things: Tim Urban (“Wait But Why?”) and Kurzgesagt (In a Nutshell). Beautifully illustrated, wittily written and expertly engineered, it’ll expand and contract your mind, ultimately leaving you out of breath as you sip the quantum foam from your piping-hot cup of supernova neutrinos in the restaurant at the end of the universe. I’ll rate it a Googol out of a Googol stars, which turns out to be way, way more than the number of stars in the observable universe.

We are but specks of dust in this extremely vast universe. The size of the universe to a human is not possibly perceivable, and yet this app has managed to make it almost possible. There are cute, funny descriptions of every single object you tap on, and I can stare for hours reading about each thing I tap on and zooming in and out to the smallest thing in the universe, to the universe itself, just barely grasping how small I really am. It is truly an experience to behold. And the fact that there is music and no ads make the whole journey from big to small so much more immersive. I’m so glad I’m helping support In a Nutshell by buying it. This app is a perfect example of their saying “Quality over quantity”. If the price had been one hundred times more, I still would have bought it. Thanks to everyone that made this masterpiece possible, you all deserve it. Kurzgesagt is keeping science beautiful, just how it’s supposed to be.

This is an amazingly well created app. I bought it to support Kurzgesagt and it was well worth the money. The illustrations are beautiful, the descriptions are witty and informative, and the scale is mindboggling large. The controls are simple and intuitive, and the user interface is clean and subtle which really allows for an immersive experience. 10/10 would buy again.

Excellent app and beautiful to see the interface is intuitive, there are some initial quirks that it only works in landscape mode but I'm not too bothered by it just surprised. All in all a great app. Was not clear from the video that it would be a paid app (I have no problem paying) however could have been nice if the app was made available to the patreon subscribers without paying again. But All this doesn't take away anything from the app itself. As always excellent work from kurzgesagt!

I love the app, just it needs some graphics optimizations. I use a mid-to-low-end LG phone, and it doesn't run that well without some framerate problems. As soon as I opened it, I saw some graphics bugs. One of my favorite parts of Kurzgesagt videos is the super smooth animation and quality, and 25fps is quite mediocre compared to the videos. Thanks!

I am so grateful to Kurzgesagt for all the effort they've put into the things they make! Everything is amazing and beautiful, the info about each object is great, and the insane sense of scale is so much fun to explore! I also love that there's no ads. My only complaint: I have a Galaxy s10+ and the X button on objects' descriptions is semi-hidden behind the camera cutout. I wish it was moved slightly more to the Right. It's still tappable without too much trouble, though.

Exactly what it says on the tin- amazing visuals bu Kurzesagt (I probably butchered the spelling, sorry.) along with educational content. One star has been deducted due to a bug that makes you unable to zoom out if you reach plank length, and unable to zoom in if you reach the observable universe. Other than that, it is a bit overpriced but I can look over that since it is going to a group I support.

Beautiful app! I love your channel and couldn't wait to download it. I'm a teacher and love to use your content in my classroom. To justify the $2.99 for multiple devices in my classroom I would love to see more interactivity in the future, maybe links to your videos in some of the descriptions, playful animations that react to touch, a list of further readings with sources and if you added a speak aloud option to be turned on and off that would be great for differentiation.

Excellent educational app, but some sections could do with a little proof reading because I've not used it for too long but I've already seen a few typos that can range from being obvious, to completely changing the meaning of a sentence. Other than that, the audio/visual experience (I love kurzgesagtz' art style) is great. I just can't give it a perfect review because of the small typos! When they're fixed, I'll upgrade to 5.

Very interesting app, especially for the spark notes of scientific discoveries, but it needs to be updated more frequently. I don’t see UY Scuti listed and i also don’t see Alcyoneus, which dwarfs both virgo A and IC 1101 by many times and is a singular elliptical galaxy. These are just minor examples that’d make it cooler, another cool edition would be even would be the size of a fully generated minecraft world, another similar computer website showed that was bigger than saturn. You could also include the most realistic theory for what’s beyond the observable universe and beyond the edge of the universe to keep people thinking (even if incorrect, cause for debate is better than nothing). Lastly i don’t believe this has anything from the standard model of particle physics if i remember right(though i need to double check after this review). All of that would turn this from a 3 star app into a 5 star app.
