I was depressed once, and I kept some notes in the notes app that comes on the iPhone. I talked about how I was feeling, what I was thinking, as well specific events that happened. These notes were very valuable to me as they detailed my experience. I wanted to save them and be able to look back later in my life and review/ analyze what I had written during that difficult time. But one day, while trying to access my notes I discovered, to my horror, that the notes had disappeared! I still don’t know what happened and have found no way to retrieve them. They are lost. Valuable details and memories I can’t get back. I looked around for a new note app that would guarantee the safety of my precious notes. I found that app in Simplenote! My private notes are fingerprint and password protected. They are backed up and can be accessed from any of my devices! I love it! The app has a cool feature that saves not just the current note, but also the original version of the note and all versions following! I feel assured knowing my notes are safe with simplenote!

This is literally the best app on my phone. That is saying a lot, but this app just gets me. It is just so common sense with its functionality and lack of stupid extra bs, and it just works the way it's supposed to. It's free, your notes are safely stored including old versions of notes saved, and it syncs between devices. There's a version for every os including desktop os's. It's got some other useful functions I don't use like the ability to share a note with collaborators and writing in markup or something, but I can't comment on them because I haven't used them. I bet they work great though. This is probably the least buggy app I've ever used too. It's lack of stupid extra bs means it just works right. Download it right now. It's a strict upgrade from your dumb default notes app, there are no downsides to replacing it with this. The simple fact that if you ever accidentally delete a note you can just look at the saved history version is all the reason you need, and is the reason I sought this app out in the first place. Just DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

I used Evernote for a few years, but it was a bit bloated and slow, and I really didn't need or want the formatted text or images that often resulted when I pasted text into my notes. Then I moved to Apple's Notes app, and for a long time, I tolerated its oddities and frustrations on my iPhone, Macs and iCloud. Duplicated notes and syncing issues were annoying and rampant. But when Apple removed the ability to sort notes alphabetically on iOS, I had had enough. My search for an alternative led me to Simplenote about a year ago, and I've never looked back. It's exactly what I need, and has the added benefit of having a Windows app too. Intuitive interface, built-in versioning, and solid as a rock. It still makes me happy every one of the 100+ times a day I use it to quickly jot down a shopping list, recipe, to do, movie to watch, book to read, or random thought. I don't think I've ever loved an app so much. And through Simplenote, I also discovered Simperium. :)

Syncs with Windows flawlessly. My previous notes app stopped supporting their Windows app and instead suggested using BlueStacks which I didn't want to do. Simplenote is available in the Windows app store, syncs fast and perfect. A great basic notes and lists app, which is exactly what I wanted. Very happy to have found it. No ads. Thanks devs.

5🌟 FIXED. Menu on PC, >< on Android. Search all 1st, then in note. The one thing that stops me over and over is the search function. ALL the notes can be searched. But I can not search inside a note. This app works on Android and PC. It would be great to use it all the time, but... Whenever I try it "one more time" I try to use the search function, then I say "Oh yeah, that's why I don't use it." Otherwise, it would be great! But trying to find a single word in a large note is not fun at all.

Great app! Like that it really is simple. Also like that a person can sync it between a phone and PC. App opens quickly, and syncs quickly, too! The best part about the sync feature is that a person doesn't have to sync it through another (unrelated) app (think Microsoft OneNote, Evernote, Google Keep and more). It's within its own app! If you like a basic note-taking app this is for you!!

Edit: issues have been worked out and app is working flawlessly again. Thank you! [[ Old review ]]: Was working fine for years. Stop syncing for me yesterday. I logged out of the app and couldn't log back in on Android (was able to successfully login on web). Changed password and still unable to login on phone app. Please fix! One of my favorite apps.

UPDATE: They fixed it really quickly. Really good and responsive support. ORIGINAL: This app is great, but login is currently broken for me on Android. Notes stopped syncing, so I tried logging out and then back in, and couldn't log back in. Using the same credentials I was able to log into the web and Windows 10 clients, so credentials aren't the issue. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, tried resetting password. Nothing has worked so far. Please help

This is an amazing app that has almost all you need and so far I have no complaints but there can always be changes/improvements. I used to have a different notebook app that was a lot worse and now I decided to get a new one and this one has over 2x the options I could do on my other one, so I’m super happy with it but if you would add these features, I think It would make it even better. First, add the option to drag and drop notes. Of course you can change the way the notes are organized in the settings but it is still limited. You should also be able to click a button and be able to drag a note above or below another note to customize it to your full desire. And second, you should be able to change the font and color of the text. It’s great to have the first sentence of your note to be a bolder font but you should expand on that idea by being able to change the font or color of your wording to emphasize a specific part of your paragraph or note to change the meaning of it drastically. With that being said though, overall it’s an amazing app and I love it wayy better than my other one so thank you for not only making this app but also not charging people for it! I wouldn’t mind getting an add every once in a while or maybe a small one at the bottom of your screen but I do appreciate not having to actually buy the app for how good it is. ❤️

I have used this app for a long time. I love the simplicity of it and the ability to automatically save notes to the cloud for editing on other devices. Basic formatting options would be nice. After purchasing a new phone and using the app I'm noticing a frustrating bug in which whenever I type a word with an apostrophe in it, it automatically completes that entire word. For example if I started typing the word don', all of a sudden the app will auto-complete resulting in "don'don't"

A good note taking app that focuses on pure, streamlined simplicity. Most note taking programmes feel bloated and packed with to many options, or do not support other platforms. I like that I can sync between my Android and Windows 10, there is also the website option using a browser! It's also fast at syncing! It's not as good as I would like it to be, no widget options, no easy way to make list or even checkbox; I'm kinda bummed about that, but I'm using this over the alternatives.

I wanted to give this 5 stars, and I was excited to have finally found the best replacement for Evernote. However this one issue makes the app unusable: When you have several paragraphs in your note, and you go up to the first paragraph and start typing more text, the entire note constantly jumps and jitters, so you can't see where/what you are typing. So disappointing because I was excited to use this app.

I think it might be a great nondistracting cross platform way to write articles and it has nice free features like publish to Wordpress, but there are weird omissions of normal note app functionality. You can't hit share and simply choose an email or sms recipient and have the text appear in the message field. And there is no "find in page" tool -- you can only search all the notes you ever wrote. It isn't basic enough to be your only notes app.

I use an ipad 6 to use this application and it was going really good until I held down the command key to see what cool shortcuts were available. There were none. Suddenly all the speed and simplicity that the app did a wonderful job of integrating flew out of the window because I was left having to reach from keyboard to screen more often than I wanted to. There were no obvious shortcuts for making a new note other than actually touching the screen. No obvious way off accessing my tags unless I touched the screen. This is wonderful when I am in full touchscreen ipad mode or iphone mode but when I have the keyboard out and connected to the ipad I want a little bit more fluidity when it comes to movement between windows. After all, Apple specializes in this. So seeing that there are no obvious keyboard shortcuts really hurt. Every other app shows me a nice list of easy to see shortcuts when I hold the command button. Please add this feature. It will improve the app drastically. Literally made the app unusable for me because it is hard to go back to just touching the screen for every single task when you have a keyboard attached. Touching screen for a few things is nice but it gets to a point where my hands cant even rest on the keyboard anymore.

This app is good, but I've occasionally seen some messed up bugs. One time I started appending to a note. Once I was done I locked my screen, assuming that the note was saved. When I unlocked it, that new portion of the note was gone. Frustrated, I began retyping that section from memory. As I was in the middle of typing, the previous note came back, but there were 10 copies of it placed right where I was typing! Now I'm a little afraid to touch the app.

Don't want to see the full address of an internal link when accessing one note from another - I just want to see an underlined hyperlink name. Also, clicking on the internal link has no effect in itself, it can only be accessed by clicking on the text icon on the toolbar. In my case, clicking on the text icon momentarily opens the referenced note with a blue background, but it immediately closes, depositing me back to the list of notes. Something's going wrong. Also, why no spell check in Linux?

Giving up because of a 3 yr old glitch they won't fix. Every time you type in a note, if you hesitate for just 2-3 seconds, it jumps to the bottom of the note. A search for this problem has references and forum posts going back for 2 1/2 years and most recently as a month ago. Date today is 4/7/2025. They obviously have no intention of fixing this. Look for another app unless you like having your blood pressure raised and hairpulling for a hobby.
