I love this app, I have not come across a better way of not only writing but organizing and conceptualizing information of a number of types. It does require some familiarity with markdown, but that is simple to the point of being trivial, especially when considering the extensive official documentation on the wiki not to mention a vast active community and tons of highly useful plug-ins, all of which are free. If you are looking for a new system, this is a good one.

This is an incredible platform... I've been using it for a couple months now and I'm still trying to pick my jaw up of the floor from finding out all it can do compared to Boost Note which I was feeling frustrated with and needed something better. This in combination with a Box sync and a Drive sync has allowed me to have incredible experience across most of my devices. I recommend to any of my programmer friends and peers any chance I get and can't recommend enough!

Great app on both desktop and mobile, and fwiw, I don't have the syncing issues others are reporting. Sometimes there is a tiny bit of lag, but it's minor. (That said, some detailed aspects of syncing could be a little more accessible in general.) Very powerful tool for writers. Not quite a Scrivener replacement, especially if you're not tech savvy enough to customize features, but you can replicate a lot of functionality with the Dataview plugin and smart searches. Highly recommend!

Might be buggy for a lot of users (mine works fairly well, just occasionally slow), but the UI setup is quite good - lots of features in an accessible, pretty way. Obsidian in general, especially desktop, is great. It's also got a learning curve and it's not for everyone. If you want a better way to make grocery lists, this probably isn't it.

Best notes app by a wide margin. It's surprisingly customizable for a mobile app too, it even has a plugin system. It's like a full-featured desktop app shrunk down to phone size, but somehow doesn't feel too cluttered or bloated, which imo is a design miracle. I wish more Android apps were designed this way. The one issue is syncing, you'll either have to pay the monthly subscription or use a third-party sync app, fortunately it's "just text files" so anything should work.

What a great app! Absolutely better than all other note apps. I just can't do 5 bucks a month just to sync 1 notebook between PC and phone. I have OneNote, I have Google keep, both suck but they are free. I have no problem paying but that's 60 bucks a year. I can do 20 bucks and 1/4 of the sizes. I just didn't need 1 gig for notes and tasks, maybe I would upgrade to that when I cap on other sizes. I wouldn't need a gig in 10 years of notes. I changed it to 3 stars and I'll just use desktop.

So thorough, really exciting to use. I love the style and simplicity of use. The only thing I don't like is when you attach a pic to a note it creates a whole new note in your list. It's annoying and ruins the look of your list of notes. Please fix! All in all, though, I am considering paying the $4 a month for the sync service so I can keep my notes across different devices. I wanted an app outside of the Google family so I could support smaller companies and this is a pretty good contender.

a fantastic app. I've been using it for notes on projects and grocery lists and the like. i love that it saves as a text doc and links to different pages, perfect for my chaos brain. I'd love if pictures could be added, even if it's just referenced in text form to another "page" to keep in line with the txt format. sort of like a "see figure 1 for reference"

Really, really good app! The slow startup speed is fixed now! Both, the desktop and the mobile apps start pretty fast. The only thing to improve, IMO, is the finicky "Send to" Obsidian on Android. It often reloads the app every time it's used, even if I just switched from the app (its battery settings are set to "no restrictions", so it shouldn't be killed). Another killer useful feature on mobile would be a quick note feature!

This is the most utilized and user friendly note taking app I ever used. I never imagined how cool and hassle less will it be using this app, especially its powerful linking/embed features, it also let's you store your files locally or sync it, you can also include your attachments easily, folders and sub-folders are what most of us actually needed, to think that you can experience and use the features for free is absolutely praiseful that saves your time and money. Keep on improving ☃️

I've used Obsidian for a couple years. It's a very good note-taking app. Vault (a paid add-on) makes syncing across devices effortless, but other cloud solutions also work. Composing in markdown's fast: your hands never leave the keyboard. It stores notes in markdown, so there's no lock-in: you can open them in a text editor. Once a note is synced to your device, you can reliably get to it even when you're offline. Quirks are in tables (a bit clunky) and the outline (hard to find on phones).

I like the app but it's buggy. "Select all" doesn't work; it selects most. Also, misclicks happen a lot. I cranked up the font size to be enormous, but Obsidian still selects the wrong file, so I know it's not a "me thing". I'm tapping the file I want to open, but Obsidian will open the one underneath where I've tapped.

If you know, you know. Obsidian is possibly the best thing for keeping info that you'll ever try. It is for me. Incredibly generous program, and the mobile app is just as good. Used to be slow for me. I learned not to stack 1000's of mixed files (zips, exe's, full program folders) in your vault, and it's fine. much quicker now, on top of that.

This is literally the best note-taking app i've ever seen in my entire freakin life. Like literally, i cannot find one, literally one con that this app has. It's good in note taking, formatting, sharing notes, navigating your notes every single thing...This app is literally good at every single things possible. Especially the zettlekasten, it just makes it so easier to navigate! And the best part? It works offline. So even when i don't have internet and i need to take notes i can just..Go ahead!

good notes app with all the fixings and then some. Easy to use if you just want the basics, but has tons of potential for intricacy and customization if you want to go there. THE TAGS SYSTEM! THE LINKS SYSTEM! It's deliciously satisfying to work with. They have a paid thing for filesharing and stuff, but if you're just using it on phone you don't have to worry since it exports to legible text files and not some proprietary unreadable format.

i Love obsidian as a general rule, to the point where i pay for sync instead of setting up a third-party way to sync my vaults because i want to support the devs. truly an amazing second brain!!! the app, however, only gets four stars due to issues highlighting text. the select all function only selects a portion of the note instead of everything within it, which is a little annoying.

I love the pc version of this program, but this app is not user friendly. My breaking point for making this review is that it is nearly impossible to highlight large blocks of text to copy or cut and paste. The cursor to highlight just straight up does not go where you want it to and jumps around. "Select All" only selects the part of the text that is visible on the screen. etc. I paid for the hosting service so that I could use when I'm away from my computer, but this makes it not worth it 😔

When scrolling up on my notes, I frequently encounter a bug where it repeatedly scrolls me down making it impossible to use my notes without restarting the app, leading me to end up using other notes apps when in a hurry. Obsidian Sync works amazingly across my phone and home PC. However, on my laptop, no matter what I do, my plugins will not sync. Everything else is amazing. If these bugs are fixed, it will be five stars.

Just started using this for a worldbuilding project, and I'm a little addicted to the Wikipedia style linking and the filepath display. Sometimes getting links to work is a little frustrating, and I don't quite understand how to use aliases correctly, but I think those are mostly me problems (or mobile problems, cause this probably works so much better and cleaner on a computer). I do want a way to quickly find empty files, cause I've left a bunch of them lying around.

I've loved this app for note taking across all of my devices. I use it for everything from day to day, projects, notes for my programming work, D&D, I mean you name it you can shape this app to work for it. The sync works almost scarily well. The only time I've ever found issue with it is syncing a device that's been out of sync for a while that ends up duplicating files that have been moved. If that's the ONLY issue I'm more than sold.

Obsidian in general, especially desktop, is great. It's also got a learning curve and it's not for everyone. If you want a better way to make grocery lists, this probably isn't it.
