I beat the first iron Marines. Loved it. Just found out the second one was even out! And it's even better than the first. I just adore this game. I mean having to buy the game AND pay for more heroes and different units and such is very lame. But that's the way the it goes I guess. Regardless, extremely fun RTS game with a whole lot of charm. And actually takes thought to beat. The game can be tough! But not in an annoying way. Please make a third Iron Marines!!! <3
Lots of fun. I don't have any complaints that deserve a lower star rating however, the Tech upgrade system is too linear and doesn't give much option for strategy it's little more than extra work the upgrades may as well be automatic. The arsenal is too expensive and earned credits aren't abundant enough, conversely the purchases aren't expensive. Good prices on the in app purchases. I'm not a fan of the out of view (from squads and bases) enemies being able to attack.
Exactly the kind of charm you'd expect from an Ironhide game. It's balanced and fun, definitely a bargain at $5; with the usual packages in-game for extra content for more $$. The game gently teaches you RTS mechanics as opposed to throwing you straight into the weeds like many larger RTS game do. There's a lot of content in this game, with lots of replayability. Each level/mission last anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Definitely going to sink dozens of hours into this over the next couple months.
I love this game more then the first one. I love this studio. I get every one of their games. My only issues that don't at all for me affect it being 5 stars is the ship animation going from planet to planet lol just so slow. Lastly is I just don't care for microtransactions in a game I buy. They have extra heroes and troops you can buy that without don't effect the experience, it's just the issue of having them in a purchases mobile game doesn't sit right with me.
Good solid iron Marines gameplay, new layout that's fun but *really hard to keep track of. How are you supposed to know which of the special missions you have completed? They just pile up with no check boxes or anything. If you fail sometimes your ability to try again goes away... For a while... And then comes back. Also the descriptions of all the missions are full of errors. Great missions, interface feels like it was rushed.
Pretty good sequel, but I like the first better. What I like most is the side missions. The first game had some as well, but Invasion does it better. I do wish there were more types of side missions than the five we get. I have encountered a bug with the mission to defeat Nexus. When capturing the three points, it's possible to completely drain Nexus's health. Once the points are captured, the game stops progressing. I'm forced to close the app and restart the game.
Better replay than prior Kingdom Rush games, Fun with good potential. There aren't nearly as many heros or troops as other version (like Iron Marines), and the ones they have are more expensive. The game play is still good, but it can be hard & frustrating to move units well in crowded battles. Rough English translations, but pretty smooth animation.
Okay this game is awesome, it really brings me back to the warcraft and starcraft days. For 5 dollars you get 20 to 40 hours of playtime depending on if you play the side quest or not. It's got enough upgrades to keep you busy and the units are really cool too. The ONLY reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the in game purchases, you really just should have made the game 10 bucks and have everything unlockable.
Good so far. There are some bugs I found like Kosmos' star attack can cycle back between the tiers, and that it doesn't deal any damage. Flying units are also uninterrupted by any terrain. Other than that it's different from the original in a few ways. I like the unit system they implemented, and the new heroes are cool. The powers you buy with credits are different which I like, though I will miss my dropgun spam. The enemies are far more difficult than before, and bought units are balanced.
I completed the first iron marines a few months prior to the release of iron marines invasion. In the first game I struggled quite a bit against numerous levels and it took me quite a few hours to complete the main storyline. Unfortunately, I completed the entirety of the new game in one try (with the exception of two non boss levels) using one type troop on hard mode. I found this game significantly easier than the previous meaning there was much less enjoyment. Still worth the $3 though.
The perfect addition to the first Iron Marines game. The hero and support rosters are a little lackluster compared to the first game, but compared to the expansion and customization of the squads, it's a fair trade off. I also like the additional lore that was added as well as FINALLY getting an in-game wiki almanac that tracks enemies you've fought, heros and units you've acquired and more planets. This is exactly what I wanted from the first game: new terrains new enemies and new experiences!
I really enjoyed the first iron marines and this one is sadly not as good as the first in my opinion. The heroes feel a little lackluster, the units although now more variety, feel less diverse. Each unit type feels less important, the heroes feel less colorful, and one of your first enemy factions is the Raad, one of the least enjoyable enemy factions from the last game. I guess I just wanted the original iron marines but with more.
Fun but really feels pay to win... I loved the first game. No problems getting through the whole thing with the stock hero. Iron marines invasion has levels that seem impossible with the stock units and hero. I purchased the all units pack to support the game and because I just like it. The units with the dinosaurs make the game crazy easy compared to not having them. The balance just seems off. I love the game but am honestly disappointed.
I have owned all other IronHide games because I think their style of tower defense is amazing. It always felt like a one time payment gets you a full game with relative access to most features and ways to play. In-game purchases seemed very optional. Except in this one, in this one I feel cheated, I paid for the game without hesitation, only to realize that I only have access to two heroes (three later on) and most factions and heroes are behind a paywall, this one is too much pay to win.
I usually love Iron Hide games and have enjoyed all others. This one was boring for some reason even at the higher levels of difficulty. I couldn't upgrade the troops I chose. And there were too many times after a round of enemy was defeated I was waiting for the next horde to arrive with nothing to do, no anticipation of when the goal would be reached. (In previous games there was a list of rounds of enemies, or by moving around the space, I could discover new enemies.)
After you buy the game you still have to pay for half the units and heros. I found the tech tree more simplistic and less useful than the first game. The way you select and move units can be annoying and frustrating. If you have a group selected and then try to select a single squad, you can easily issue a move command to all your units mid-combat. There is no attack-move, everything is move command based which is very frustrating when trying to move fragile high range units.
So far the first game feels more different in the ability to do research and the abilities of heros and the heros themselves just seemed better. This is after like idk 2 hours. I'll probably come back and rate again later. However, in a paid to play game with most of the heros and army units being paid to use is crazy especially since it's like 15 dollars just for all heros. Which is like the price of an indie game.
I enjoyed the kingdom tower defense games and the first iron Marines, but this title was clumsy and uninspired. Dragging the units around is mechanically difficult, the dialogue is slow and dull, and the signature new feature, vision, is really just a way of forcing you to explore all the upstairs areas before you go downstairs. The game is playable, but I'd rather just replay one of this publisher's classics. 2.5 stars.
I have loved every game from this studio but the cost to get any new characters continues to go up with any new game they create. I don't know who would buy this game and then the extra characters when it doesn't even add to the gameplay really. That said it's got fun missions, just the replayability is nonexistent and anything that costs extra won't add to that limited content in any way. Edit for the developers comment: Your devs are doing great, this is a sales/leadership issue.
The microtransactions in these later titles have been getting worse. This game (and vengeance) truly suffer from greed. In the previous titles, it wasn't optimal that you would have to buy a hero before you could even try it, like you didn't even get a test run... And that was pushing it before. But the micro transactions with this game (and vengeance) are just on a whole new level. Now you pay for units, in the other game towers.. I don't think you guys realize the thin ice you were already on.
