Crossword Jam

Used to be kind of fun, but now they added audio ads in the middle of playing the game. They can't be muted until 5 seconds into the ad, so you can't even listen to music or podcasts without being interrupted every 2 minutes by an add you can't keep muted. Was fine with the ads after each puzzle, but now that there are ads in the middle of gameplay, I won't be playing game much longer.

Fun, and progressively challenging crossword puzzle game. Pretty straight forward, ads are optional, but not necessary (unless you're really stuck or something and need more coins). You can collect bonus words too. Just a little tip - find as many of those bonus words, as you can, to collect coins quickly 😉. This way I end up with plenty of coins without having to watch ads.

I just passed level 5200 at the time of this review. The words it will accept are somewhat bewildering. For example, it will not accept Norse, but will accept Nordic. It also doesn't accept some other words like knap. The ads, while annoying, have added a little motivation to finish the level faster. Levels take anywhere from 10 seconds to 15 minutes to finish. I can usually finish the level before the ad has finished, but it's still annoying. This free game is a great time killer.

This is a fun game if it weren't for all the ads! After you play for a while there's an ad after almost every game and they're not short ads. Many are the full 30 second ads. I'd pay to get rid of them but $10 seems like a lot. If I liked the game better, maybe, but as it is if pay $5 tops. There are lots of repetitive words but that helps because I'm old and I'm losing my memory! 😁

"changed from 3 star to 1 star. these ads are predatory. there's no excuse. the amount of times i click on an (X) to close an ad and find myself sent to the internet is criminal. and the team tried to sweep me aside." really good game, but the ads are intrusive af. they are constantly pushing the limits of intrusion. there's a talking ad that you can skip but they moved it to a spot at the bottom that you can't push without accidentally clicking on the bottom bar ad.

I've probably been playing this game for a couple years now, at least. The ads, at first, weren't bad at all but now are almost constant. One ad I almost always see is for a game that I already have and the ad knows I have it because it gives me the option to open and play it. The little audio ad is the most annoying thing ever, but can be quieted by hitting the speaker icon. As if the out of control ads weren't enough, it's now throwing surveys at me. I've lost interest now, was a great game.

Congrats on finally getting your ads to play again. They completely crashed everything! Again!! This is the 2nd time, and I'm done!! My coins are back to 200, and after almost 18 months of playing it wants to teach me how to play again! No doubt all of my high scores have been erased! People, if you haven't started playing this game...DON'T!! I've had too many issues with it to mention. It's fun, it's intelligent, but you get little to no help when you experience problems.

Game is fine. It's pretty easy, and some words are used ad nauseum the reason for the 2 stars is the game crashes constantly, and I have to reopen the app every 1 or 2 levels. Sometimes, it crashes in the middle of a level, and I have to start over. The letter hunt event doesn't work. I've been stuck at 5/15 for about 150 levels and can not interact with the event screen. Ads are fine as they're skippable, but I'm pretty sure they're causing the app to close.

Love the concept. I was playing a tournament and was stopped because there were no more games for me to play. I guess I'd played every single crossword game they have. This was VERY disappointing. The game management is not consistent. Would like more options to earn points. Very stingy with points and opportunity to get points without having to pay for them. A lot of problems in operation. I'd like it if it was more consistent and gave more hints. But even better if they had enough games.

Update 9/26/2024: I tried to play this game again, and I experience the same problem with the ads shutting down the game. (Former edited review) I loved this game! Unfortunately, now, there are so many ads and so many crashes that I uninstalled it. I can take the ads, but not the game crashing and running in the background. Too bad, but I wouldn't recommend it.

EDIT: It was fun for a little while. However, this game is perfect for people who like word games but have a limited vocabulary. the levels present no challenge, there have been a few repeat words and, at some point, this bloom rush thing started up where I complete a word, get a bloom, then it starts throwing letters in everywhere, basically solving the puzzles for me. boring. moving on.

Great game, but it crashes my phone. plus, I made an accidental purchase, pocket purchase while the game was open, out cost my $99. And can't figure out how to get my money back. THEY make it hard to get on touch with them. Easy to buy, hard to reverse an accidental purchase. I hope they're reading this I will go to my bank and file fraud charges of I don't get it back. Till then, I will not play the game so I don't use anything purchased.

I like this game, but I don't like all the ads. Some of these ads take too long, and you only get 10 coins. The floating reward box on each level freezes upon ad completion, and you cannot claim it. Then there's the reward chain which takes too many levels to fill. The levels are repetitive, and does not accept a lot words. Some changes could make this game a lot better. Way way too many ads. The game malfunctions and kicks you out. Sixty second ads are ridiculous, and then you have double add.

I actually liked the app BUT even if you turn off the music & sounds in settings the pop-up ads still blare out. I was in bed sneaking in a few rounds while my husband slept next to me. I figured that since I turned off all the game sounds that it would be fine. Then a male voice screamed out, scaring my husband half to death! The pop-up is about an inch sized square on the bottom right of the game screen with a microscopic x to turn it off & there's too many pop-ups. I'm done!

Poorly coded. The app freezes on the loading screen now, always. It doesn't matter if you force quit the app, clear the cache, restart the phone, the app is unplayable now. This is the second time it's happened. The first time I had to delete the app and reinstall, which caused me to lose several hundred levels of progress and start over. Not going to waste any more time with this game or its weak developers.

It seems the more I play this, the more and LONGER the ads are. There are far more ads than play time, so I may uninstall and find something similar. Because of the downtime with long ads, it's not much fun to play, hard to get momentum going when ads are so long and multiple before I can get back to playing. update: I stopped playing for a while and then came back. there didn't seem to be ad many ads, nor were they as long. but recently, the number and length of ads had picked up again.

I used to love Crossword Jam until the latest update. Yall ruined the game!!! It had been so fun and brain stimulating to figure the puzzles, not deal with constant ads between puzzles and no silly side games. Now there is some stupid animal game to have to get past, constant ads, different "hints/ad ons" that suddenly put the letters on the puzzles. GO BACK TO THE WAY IT USED TO BE!!! This new version is not fun! I was at level 987 or something like that, but may have to uninstall.

the puzzles are fun, enjoyable, and I love the animals. Also easy to earn lots of coins without watching ads. However, after I passed level 100 the ads happened after every single puzzle. Then as I got farther they just started in the middle of a puzzle. Also a voice ad would just pop up during a puzzle with no way to stop it. Now I have random ads popping up on my phone with every app that is opened. I do not recommend this game!!!

This was one my favorite word game, but the GLITCHY ADS have ruined it!! I get that all free games have ads, but not like this... The audio-ads have a little tiny box pop up, that somehow always manages to cover part of the letters on the puzzle. The regular ads rarely end or have an exit button. I have to close out of the game and get back on. So over it.

Pretty fun. Would be better if it would actually recognize more valid words. Ads are very annoying, and while I understand the necessity of them in a free to player game, but the price to go ad free (for a crossword game) is extreme. I also REALLY dislike the new placement of the shuffle button, being in the letter area. It's distracting.
