These were amazing when i first got them. They use to show alerts for the last week, now they are only available for about 24 hours. The full screen unskippable ads before being able to even open the app have become way too obnoxious. And I'm not interested in paying the outrageous price for premium. Update 8/7/25: Now when you get an alert and click the screen is black and you have to choose the play off of sd card . On top of that when you open app it plays 1 min unskippable ads. TRASH!

This app used to be great. As of the last 6 months they started adding so many ads that it can take up to 30 seconds to open a notification on the cameras. You pay for cameras and you expect the app to open so you can view the cameras, but instead there are so many long ads that it makes checking the activity on the cameras an afterthought. Very disappointed in this company. I have several cameras and I think I am switching to one more focused on the customer instead of the nonstop ads.

Last Update 8/20/25: After many years, this app has finally gotten so worse that it is time to find an alternative. The fact you can no longer view any event captures without a premium subscription has done it. I delt with the bugs, inconsistent alerts, annoying ads but now I can't even watch the short events has me looking elsewhere. Its only a matter of time where you will need to pay just to see live view, or even open the app (and still see endless ads). I do NOT recommend this app.

BUY A DIFFERENT CAMERA! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Used to love it, but no more, ADS ADS ADS!!!!! When I'm checking in on my toddlers, I need to see them immediately, I shouldn't have to wait for the ADS to finish!! I bought these cameras over others (years ago) because of the FREE app, this past year has gotten ridiculous with the non stop ads! Some of them are configured to open a web page when you tap on the "x", prolonging viewing your kids!!!!!! Used to love YI Home, no more.

I've been using yi products for a while. and it seems like they're getting worse. the subscription used to be five bucks for 1 camera and now it is 15 which I guess but I feel like the app is getting worse. when I go to click to see a clip it shows me a different clip from the day. sometimes the clip doesn't even record. it just shows a blank screen. Then when you try to cancel the subscription it treats it like an inquiry. not a set thing so if you forget to reply to the bot it doesn't cancel.

Used to be Okay. Options if you dont pay for a service are limited, but i was able to view 6 sec clips and save to file. No clips now. An EXCESSIVE number of Ads that you cant skip. Mini X's which make you click the link. Even trying to end app with ad going, is a hassle. memory cards are always failing. especially when Im away from home. I cant wait to buy a new camera system. These are a JOKE anymore.

Been a long time user for about 4+ years & never been issues up until recently. Ads EVERYWHERE. At least u can disable ads at launch by going to: Account Tab->App Settings->Opt Out. Want to cancel your subscription? HAHA, let's make that as difficult as possible for you. Cannot just "cancel" click a button like everyone else. No, you need to email customer support and wait 3-5 days for response (Heads up trial subscribers that want to cancel, don't wait til last day...give it almost a week).

Sudden addition of external ads full screen blocking use of the app, ads for cloud subscription blocking video, SD card playback can no longer continue beyond clips. I also don't want a subscription, 'free' or otherwise. I bought these products outright and modification of the software was unexpected and unwarranted. This is not the first time. Previous changes had been rolled back and yet here we are again.

Don't even waste your time. There's always an ad prior to performing any task. The ads literally takes you to play store to download unwanted apps before you can view camera. Completely unacceptable. Not worth the camera package purchase!!!! really it's counterproductive, for it's intended purpose. You'll feel bamboozled if you actually give them a try.

UPDATE::free version of the app is now riddled with ads! Not sure if its like that with the paid versions, but if there was an emergency or anything along those lines, these ads make safety checks damn there impossible! Original::was better when I first bought them, got a few updates since & the picture quality isnt as clear anymore & appears a bit darker than it should, for the price of the actual cameras themselves they are still good enough!

I brought 4 cameras years ago and everything was fine, the app was doing ok no issues. Now? I absolutely hate it, the ads is so freaking annoying, If there's ever a emergency and I gotta check the camera guess what? There's a ad when you open the app, there's a ad when you click on what camera you wanna see and of course there's a random ad that takes you out of the app itself without you even pressing anything. I'm about to just get new cameras from somewhere else, it's not worth the headache

These cameras work great! I have 7 of them. However, the app sucks!! They continually force loud unstoppable adds on you when you open the app. If you want to see what your notification was, it will be gone before the adds end. They keep pushing you to subscribe to their cloud service. It never used to be this way. This is a total betrayal of customer trust. I am considering junking my 7 cameras for a different brand without all of these adds. DO NOT BUY!!!!

Virtually unuseable!!!! The app used to be OK. Some ads, but you could easily click out of them. Not any more. Now, if you want to view your cameras, the app forces you to wait while ADS PLAY FULL SCREEN WITHOUT ANY OPTION TO EXIT.... and the ads run at least 30 seconds. It's all designed to get you to buy their "cloud service." I'll be throwing these cameras in the trash because they're all but useless for monitoring.

At first the devices worked great. However, after time it frequently disconnect from my wifi & require physical re-pairing through the app. Additionally, there is a lag in accessing the camera through the app which can be frustrating. Plus the pop up ads make it impossible to view the cameras when I need to access them. It feels as if each time I want to view a camera I have to wait for the pop up add to play before getting the option to click out & refuse the ad which defeats instant viewing.

I appreciated the app before, but now, the ads are too much. why would they consider this a good idea for security devices, especially if youre trying to open the app to quickly look at who's at your front door... then have to wait 3 minutes for an ad to complete before you can see anything? there's plenty of ways to promote your premium service. this is NOT the way. we're looking to move in the coming months and unless this changes, I'm sure like many others, we will move on from yi home.

Not sure what happened with this last update but I have lost the ability to see live feed. I haven't signed up with your service as I don't need that, but I was able to see the live feed. Now it says it can't connect to the network, but everything else in my house is able too. I've restarted it, deleted app and reinstalled but it still doesn't work. I'm about to give up on them and just get a Blink indoor camera(to go with my outdoor cameras(

it's okay, not great. Miss a lot no matter the setting. Video quality is great. Constantly tries to get me to buy a subscription even though I have one, updates constantly (at least three times a week) & while it waits for $/update it won't record motions. Like holding a hostage for $ &/or update. Get random bird flying by, but miss package drop offs I set it up for, & my mechanic taking my vehicle from my driveway. My car is there, my car is gone, nothing in between. Make it make sense.

I would not use this app if it were not outright required to use the cameras. It now plays ads every time I open it, which is obviously not ideal if you are trying to use your cameras after just hearing an odd sound and trying to decide whether to be concerned. As if the external ads weren't bad enough, the app is also constantly advertising its other services, and by "constantly," I mean every time you open the app, select a camera to view, or switch to literally any other part of the app.

12/20/23: As others have said... I've used Yi for years, generally happy with it. Now, full screen ads on startup. Do not offer me a discount on an ad-free subscription. I'm not getting it. Update 1/31/25: Wow, they're really hitting the startup ads hard. Update 5/2/25: I'm moving on to a different product. The inundation of ads is not worth the quality of this product.

This app is packed with ads now! It used to be okay. Now, it even shows the full screen startup ad before it can be dismissed. I also have to constantly dismiss pop up ads on every screen as I navigate around the app. The microSD never worked. It's just a fake decoy. The app is always trying to sell cloud plans for more than 6 seconds clips regardless! I am forced to use this app in it's current state for the Yi cameras that I have bought years ago. I will not buy another Yi product ever again!

Not sure what happened with this last update but I have lost the ability to see live feed. I haven't signed up with your service as I don't need that, but I was able to see the live feed. Now it says it can't connect to the network, but everything else in my house is able too. I've restarted it, deleted app and reinstalled but it still doesn't work. I'm about to give up on them and just get a Blink indoor camera(to go with my outdoor cameras(

The fact you can no longer view any event captures without a premium subscription has done it. I delt with the bugs, inconsistent alerts, annoying ads but now I can't even watch the short events has me looking elsewhere. Its only a matter of time where you will need to pay just to see live view, or even open the app (and still see endless ads). I do NOT recommend this app.

I've been using yi products for a while. and it seems like they're getting worse. the subscription used to be five bucks for 1 camera and now it is 15 which I guess but I feel like the app is getting worse. when I go to click to see a clip it shows me a different clip from the day. sometimes the clip doesn't even record. it just shows a blank screen. Then when you try to cancel the subscription it treats it like an inquiry. not a set thing so if you forget to reply to the bot it doesn't cancel.

Used to be Okay. Options if you dont pay for a service are limited, but i was able to view 6 sec clips and save to file. No clips now. An EXCESSIVE number of Ads that you cant skip. Mini X's which make you click the link. Even trying to end app with ad going, is a hassle. memory cards are always failing. especially when Im away from home. I cant wait to buy a new camera system. These are a JOKE anymore.

Been a long time user for about 4+ years & never been issues up until recently. Ads EVERYWHERE. At least u can disable ads at launch by going to: Account Tab->App Settings->Opt Out. Want to cancel your subscription? HAHA, let's make that as difficult as possible for you. Cannot just "cancel" click a button like everyone else. No, you need to email customer support and wait 3-5 days for response (Heads up trial subscribers that want to cancel, don't wait til last day...give it almost a week).

Sudden addition of external ads full screen blocking use of the app, ads for cloud subscription blocking video, SD card playback can no longer continue beyond clips. I also don't want a subscription, 'free' or otherwise. I bought these products outright and modification of the software was unexpected and unwarranted. This is not the first time. Previous changes had been rolled back and yet here we are again.

Don't even waste your time. There's always an ad prior to performing any task. The ads literally takes you to play store to download unwanted apps before you can view camera. Completely unacceptable. Not worth the camera package purchase!!!! really it's counterproductive, for it's intended purpose. You'll feel bamboozled if you actually give them a try.

UPDATE::free version of the app is now riddled with ads! Not sure if its like that with the paid versions, but if there was an emergency or anything along those lines, these ads make safety checks damn there impossible! Original::was better when I first bought them, got a few updates since & the picture quality isnt as clear anymore & appears a bit darker than it should, for the price of the actual cameras themselves they are still good enough!

I brought 4 cameras years ago and everything was fine, the app was doing ok no issues. Now? I absolutely hate it, the ads is so freaking annoying, If there's ever a emergency and I gotta check the camera guess what? There's a ad when you open the app, there's a ad when you click on what camera you wanna see and of course there's a random ad that takes you out of the app itself without you even pressing anything. I'm about to just get new cameras from somewhere else, it's not worth the headache

These cameras work great! I have 7 of them. However, the app sucks!! They continually force loud unstoppable adds on you when you open the app. If you want to see what your notification was, it will be gone before the adds end. They keep pushing you to subscribe to their cloud service. It never used to be this way. This is a total betrayal of customer trust. I am considering junking my 7 cameras for a different brand without all of these adds. DO NOT BUY!!!!

Virtually unuseable!!!! The app used to be OK. Some ads, but you could easily click out of them. Not any more. Now, if you want to view your cameras, the app forces you to wait while ADS PLAY FULL SCREEN WITHOUT ANY OPTION TO EXIT.... and the ads run at least 30 seconds. It's all designed to get you to buy their "cloud service." I'll be throwing these cameras in the trash because they're all but useless for monitoring.

At first the devices worked great. However, after time it frequently disconnect from my wifi & require physical re-pairing through the app. Additionally, there is a lag in accessing the camera through the app which can be frustrating. Plus the pop up ads make it impossible to view the cameras when I need to access them. It feels as if each time I want to view a camera I have to wait for the pop up add to play before getting the option to click out & refuse the ad which defeats instant viewing.

I appreciated the app before, but now, the ads are too much. why would they consider this a good idea for security devices, especially if youre trying to open the app to quickly look at who's at your front door... then have to wait 3 minutes for an ad to complete before you can see anything? there's plenty of ways to promote your premium service. this is NOT the way. we're looking to move in the coming months and unless this changes, I'm sure like many others, we will move on from yi home.

Not sure what happened with this last update but I have lost the ability to see live feed. I haven't signed up with your service as I don't need that, but I was able to see the live feed. Now it says it can't connect to the network, but everything else in my house is able too. I've restarted it, deleted app and reinstalled but it still doesn't work. I'm about to give up on them and just get a Blink indoor camera(to go with my outdoor cameras(

it's okay, not great. Miss a lot no matter the setting. Video quality is great. Constantly tries to get me to buy a subscription even though I have one, updates constantly (at least three times a week) & while it waits for $/update it won't record motions. Like holding a hostage for $ &/or update. Get random bird flying by, but miss package drop offs I set it up for, & my mechanic taking my vehicle from my driveway. My car is there, my car is gone, nothing in between. Make it make sense.

I would not use this app if it were not outright required to use the cameras. It now plays ads every time I open it, which is obviously not ideal if you are trying to use your cameras after just hearing an odd sound and trying to decide whether to be concerned. As if the external ads weren't bad enough, the app is also constantly advertising its other services, and by "constantly," I mean every time you open the app, select a camera to view, or switch to literally any other part of the app.

12/20/23: As others have said... I've used Yi for years, generally happy with it. Now, full screen ads on startup. Do not offer me a discount on an ad-free subscription. I'm not getting it. Update 1/31/25: Wow, they're really hitting the startup ads hard. Update 5/2/25: I'm moving on to a different product. The inundation of ads is not worth the quality of this product.

This app is packed with ads now! It used to be okay. Now, it even shows the full screen startup ad before it can be dismissed. I also have to constantly dismiss pop up ads on every screen as I navigate around the app. The microSD never worked. It's just a fake decoy. The app is always trying to sell cloud plans for more than 6 seconds clips regardless! I am forced to use this app in it's current state for the Yi cameras that I have bought years ago. I will not buy another Yi product ever again!

This app used to be great. As of the last 6 months they started adding so many ads that it can take up to 30 seconds to open a notification on the cameras. You pay for cameras and you expect the app to open so you can view the cameras, but instead there are so many long ads that it makes checking the activity on the cameras an afterthought. Very disappointed in this company. I have several cameras and I think I am switching to one more focused on the customer instead of the nonstop ads.

Last Update 8/20/25: After many years, this app has finally gotten so worse that it is time to find an alternative. The fact you can no longer view any event captures without a premium subscription has done it. I delt with the bugs, inconsistent alerts, annoying ads but now I can't even watch the short events has me looking elsewhere. Its only a matter of time where you will need to pay just to see live view, or even open the app (and still see endless ads). I do NOT recommend this app.

BUY A DIFFERENT CAMERA! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Used to love it, but no more, ADS ADS ADS!!!!! When I'm checking in on my toddlers, I need to see them immediately, I shouldn't have to wait for the ADS to finish!! I bought these cameras over others (years ago) because of the FREE app, this past year has gotten ridiculous with the non stop ads! Some of them are configured to open a web page when you tap on the "x", prolonging viewing your kids!!!!!! Used to love YI Home, no more.

These were amazing when i first got them. They use to show alerts for the last week, now they are only available for about 24 hours. The full screen unskippable ads before being able to even open the app have become way too obnoxious. And I'm not interested in paying the outrageous price for premium. Update 8/7/25: Now when you get an alert and click the screen is black and you have to choose the play off of sd card . On top of that when you open app it plays 1 min unskippable ads. TRASH!
