The app has been working great for me, but recently I'm getting notifications while I"m not using the app about nonsense that has to do with the app instead of anything to do with the weather. I don't want "CHECK OUT THIS NEW FEATURE!" notifications, but there isn't a way to turn them off. If I turn them off from the android side then I don't get wind alerts. Having the info about a new feature showing up when I open the app is fine, but notifications when I'm not using it? Not cool.
I switched to Windy so I can see all the weather models at once and have a better idea of the weather possibilities for the day. I love how thorough it is! update: I'm frustrated at how difficult it is to figure out the rain situation. The rain icons are too tiny to see and the hourly view doesn't show the percent chance of rain at all. Forget trying to figure it out from the widget! Also wish the UV index was available in the widget. This app is really only good for wind info.
The app seems quite promising, but I created a paid account in the web version, on a computer, and trying to get the app to recognize this is making me insane! One tablet seems to recognize it, while simultaneously nagging me to upgrade. But my phone flat out refuses to even acknowledge that the account exists! given that I was planning on taking this with me on Ocean voyage starting tomorrow, this is extremely annoying.
Took me a couple times to understand the graphs and such...so much info. But once I did, and marked a couple of my favorite spots, Windy has been VERY helpful. I used to use 3 different apps to cobble together a fishing plan. Now its just Windy. It's my go-to app. Also works great for surfing and motorcycle rides.
All the Data You Need in One Place. Amazing price point as well! Play the puzzle game for a possible discount on the lifetime membership. If you use an app like Surfline, they charge way more and have the exact same data Windy provides. In CA we find that the Windy app predicts the wind far superior to any other app. Additionally, the buoy data is readily available for surf forecasting. Windy meets all my needs for surfing and fishing globally.
