Rise of Castles: Ice and Fire

They are making the game too much of a pay to win. New things out nearly every week that cost hundreds of dollars and are neccesary to be competitive. I recommend finding another game that isnt quite as greedy. Update since developers responded. Their statements are 0. You cannot get everything free from playing more. Some heroes require 30 to 40 fragments. Through free to play methods you can maybe get 10 fragments. Leaving 20 to 30 that must be purchased. Each frag costing around 100 USD.

Have downloaded and played quite a few times. It's fun up to lvl 6 but too many things to build research and upgrade after. There is a choice between farm, raider, and trader which is cool. After playing this a few times I like trader first seconded by raider. The highest I have been is lvl 19. Understand that it is very time consuming if one has to work. I believe developers are trying to balance it out between free play and paid play. Hopefully future paid will not increase stats.

Game was fun but now everything is about buying to advance. It is very unfair if you do not spend $$$$$$... Game developers say you don't need to spend money but the reality is that if you don't do it, then you become a target for spenders. It doesn't matter if you are in an alliance or not. "This has turned into a pay to win game". Aldditionally, all the continuous updates for the nonsense graphics eats to much of your phone memory to the point where the game slows down. Not good anymore!!!!!!

First off, it is not a strategy game. It is fun to build your city, but it is pretty basic. Combat is just send your army over and that is it. It all comes down to troop and hero stats. No thinking involved. Pretty simple, would be good for younger players but they might get frustrated with always losing until they buy better heros and equipment.

Very similar in game play as other games of this type. You DO NOT start in an island with a fishing net as in the ad. You begin just like other games, with a play tutorial, build this and build that. You don't control the dragon, and some of the gameplay is not as good as others. For example, when in the world map, you have to work your way up to fight bandits? But you have to search your self for the correct level bandit, where other games have a quick search feature. Not bad, but not great.

It needs a huge improvement in instructions, but it is really fun to play! After a few more days playing, I've not received gems I purchased. Dropping the rating down from stars to 1. This is that is unacceptable. Update: 2 more days, it has now happened again! I have purchased items and never got them. Even though the money came out of my acct, i never got the gem bundle i purchased for $19.99, or the research speed up bundle for $4.99 i just bought!!! What are you going to do to fix this?!?!

Well, I came back to edit my review. Initially I had it at five stars. Progress was steady, found like minded people in an alliance..etc. Now, it is exactly what I thought it was and would be. Pay or be cannon fodder. You have to buy certain things or you don't get the benefits. There's no option to work towards it. Buy it or get left behind. The advertising is misleading....not wrong. Just deceptively misleading. Yes it is pay-to-play. Not at the onset...but once you're immersed into the game.

There's no way this has a legit 4.7 rating. Yes, anyone can play without paying. Yes, anyone can progress without paying. But you cannot progress far without paying unless you want to get stuck being a farm for top payers. The game caters to those who spend alot of money, and gives just enough to those that don't to keep them frustrated. Games like this should be mandatory subscription based with alot of perks for everyone, to make it an equal playing field,which it is extremely far from being.

I saw an ad on Instagram for this game and was hyped for about 1 minute. Then I played it. The ad shows the original age of empires, and then this game (which they implied it is age of empires on the phone). This game is NOT age of empires. It is a 0 advertising, click bait, pay to win kind of game. It is not a sandbox. There is no strategy to it. Just leveling super slowly until you pay for materials. Though one plus, I didn't get any errors. So yea.

Dragon exploration % is way off, may say 10%, when it's actually 1-2%. Pay-to-play to be able to compete in any way. Some things disappear in your cards, which may give you various resources. Nothing changes, and they keep adding cartoon type things. To try to get kids to spend money in this game. If you really want to do well in the game, you definitely need to spend money. Also, every update tells me to delete apps to make room, but later, can go right in. Not worth it.

good so far, at level 5 things slow way down but later levels it speeds up again, haven't been attacked yet so idk how I like that yet but I've attacked and sacked cities and the mechanics of that are well thought out, you gain territory that way it seems like but sometimes I don't understand how I can win a battle at a disadvantage. the quests are really fun and engaging, especially when you unlock the quests through the building. As of 8-18-2025 it seems like it reverts texture packs sometimes

Misleading game dynamics! I downloaded this game because it said I didn't need to pay to win. I played for 4 weeks and built as much as I could without spending real money, and I still end up getting beat up by older and higher level players who obviously have way more experience and forces than a beginner like me. There's no way I can ever beat those higher level than me. If you decide to play this game, you MUST spend serious $$$ to be able to at least match higher level players. Uninstalling.

The game is amazing with it's graphics and ability to move farms and other material gathering plots, but to actually get somewhere in the game, i have to pay like 50 bucks. It does not make sense, and is really poor on the developers part. If you want so much money, don't make the game free. Besides all of that, as i have said, the graphics and mobility are amazing. It would just be nice if they didn't charge over 100 dollars to get past level 6.

Fun game to pass the time. Do not need to pay to progress, but it takes much longer. Great way to meet people from around the world and make online friends. Great for casual play if you don't mind being at a disadvantage most of the time to people with deep pockets. Micro transactions galore and terrible drop rates/no guarantee that you get what you pay for in loot boxes. If you do spend money, only spend on guaranteed items.

Lots of fun to play! Just know going into it that it will require spending real money to keep the gameplay going. I don't mind it so much at here and there (I will spend much more than that to buy a PC game). Keep a close eye on your in-game commerce resources (gold and diamonds). There is a bug in the Replenish Resources menu that will drain the game's account of thousands of diamond when all you expected to spend was 50 or 100. A very bad bug if you paid real money to gain those gems.

Been playing since 2019. Game starts off fun and engaging. It soon turns into a boring drag as it begins to take a year to upgrade your castle each time, unless you pay tons of money for all their nonsense packs. Additionally, you'll often get stuck getting attacked over and over again, which causes you to lose your resources you've spent over a year to obtain. When this happens your armies will dwindle to a fraction of what they were. It's a vicious boring cycle that goes nowhere.

I've spent THOUSANDS on this game and I've been experiencing crashes Everytime I try to log in since yesterday, this is the only game I play and I'm still awaiting help from developers, un freaking believable UPDATE:weeks later they say it's fixed, after denying it was happening and saying we didn't experience it. They sent us some gems etc and continue to be rude, don't waste your time or money here, find a different game

if you're going to plan on dumping a bunch of money into a game this one's for you. some of the packages in my opinion are absolutely ridiculous. and also the main screen is way too busy there's way too much going on, it's difficult to focus on building and and doing your layout of your castle and buildings and you got all of these little icons all over the place, and then you got all the superior players that will decimate you for resources and kills, I rate the game 2 out of 5

Customer support for this game is useless and awful. I spent $35 for an in game event (Province Migration) and I could not migrate to the state I wanted to. Kept saying my power didn't meet the conditions when in fact it did! Opened ticket with the in game customer support, took 2 days to respond and all they came back saying was "please follow in game prompt" and marked it resolved. I did follow the prompt and I am getting an error/message that I can't. I need to figure out why I can't. Refund!
