Before I continue with my review, I highly suggest using this app only if you can afford the premium plan. You will not be able to store many Pokémon if you use the free plan. With that being said, I am super stoked at how easily I've been managing the completion of my Pokédex using the GTS and Wonder Box features. My one complaint is that Pokémon brought from the Go app lose their nicknames, and you cannot rename them on the Home app. If this feature gets added, I will happily rate five stars.
I mean. Yeah, it certainly is THE current go to app for holding your Pokémon. UI is easy enough to navigate, could certainly use more space than just 30 if you're not paying premium but as someone with a lot of Pokémon, it's a good place to hold'em. Just be sure to take them out before your subscription ends or they'll keep them hostage. Unfortunate some features like the GTS, wonder trading and such are all locked to the app too, but oh well.
There are things I really like about this app. Wonder Box is really fun, I've gotten some really awesome Pokemon from it. I like that you can transfer from GO to SwSh. However, the app is clunky and slow. The animations take forever during any sort of trading. Also keeps telling me I don't have mons that I do when trying to trade. And can we talk about the Furfrou problem? It makes the app almost completely unusable during GTS trading.
It's a great storage app for Pokemon and trading as well. But I wish it was possible to bring in the different furfrou forms in Pokemon home because when I want to trade for a certain pokemon I can't trade for it because all of them request a certain furfrou form, and honestly it's getting really annoying. Like this is what's taking away from a good experience and I don't like that at all.
For the most part, I very much like this app. The main issue I have is that the Switch version will not let you trade, which seems really weird considering the games themselves are on console, not mobile. 1 quality of life change I'd like (other than the option to trade through the app on console) is to be able to sort through Pokémon transferable to a specific game by their number in game. This is mainly for me to complete my BD Pokédex a bit more easily.
The app is fine for the most part, but I have a few major gripes. For one, you can request mythical Pokémon in the GTS, but not actually trade them. This has lead to the entire GTS being clogged with mythical requests and being almost worthless. As is tradition. The sorting system is nice, but the mobile app provides no practical box view, making sorting between the phone and Switch apps a hassle. Wonder Box trades also take an eternity. Altogether, it works, sure. But not intuitively.
Good app, although the having to buy premium to get the ability to have more than 30 pokemon stored there is a bit much. That, along with the fact that it doesn't use notifications to tell you when someone traded for your pokemon brings it down 2 stars. I would give it a 2.5 rating due to the fact that I can't set a notification for when a pokrmon I wanted to trade for gets taken off the market, but it doesn't have notifications in general (that i can find), and my Android phone can't do that.
The app is good so far. I am very much a completionist and having the ability to store all my pokemon together is really nice. Plus having the ability to do both wonder and gts trades is nice. That being said, when using the gts, it would be nice/beneficial if we could specify an origin game instead of just games the pokemon is compatible with. That way we can get the version exclusives from the proper game easier.
Two stars for storage and trading being very helpful. My biggest problem is that my achievements don't update? It's been three days since I deposited four hundred pokemon and none of my achievements have updated to include all the balls, moves, and types I've registered. Not to mention getting all the Florges forms. Isn't facilitating trade what this is meant to be about? I traded to get all the forms and didn't get any achievement for it, despite that being the point. Not to mention Furfrou.
