August 2025 update, made it hard to use my favorite contacts. the icons are so small and in a scroll sideways. I have trouble seeing this... I can't image the trouble visually challenged folks are having. hate it. AND, I can't find settings to fix. give me the options for the view!!! large icons that I can read. I may go find new calling apps if this doesn't update quickly
Updates are incredibly buggy. While in a call you can tap the speaker phone button and it won't do a single thing. You have to leave the app and come back into it for it to work. You'll be either stuck on speakerphone or stuck in the handset mode. Removes the basic functionality of having a phone. Uninstalling all updates fixes the issue, so it's definitely an issue with the latest updates. Also removed the ability to route the call through BT device, such as a smart watch
you would think an update makes things easier. Not Google. Now when I open the phone the contacts are not at the convenience on the bottom, no you have to click on the 3 bars upper left, then contacts. Adding another step. Also call history was a simple click on the upper right 3 dots but now it's in the same three bars on the left to find call history. Then 3 more steps to remove history #'s...... Found more annoying changes to non simplify the phone use. Get me back to the old app...PLEASE
recently started using the latest update and the new UI doesn't look very polished. I miss the traditional swipe up/down call answer gesture and don't see why it isn't an option within the phone settings. I'm also not a big fan of the enlarged buttons during a call. I do like that they are addressing the blank space, but maybe there could be a feature to customize the call button shapes / placements?
It takes too many clicks find contacts now. Too hard to search within contacts once you do find them, and searching in the logs is just as hard. Also, the new section of the call log that just shows your contacts in the log is a waste. The call button is way too big now. There needs to be a way to switch it back to the old way before this update. The new spam features might be nice, but are not worth the loss of other functionality.
The new layout is annoying and that tiny little picture of the person where the edges keep moving when you make a call is ugly and unpleasant to look at. I liked it when the pictures of the person were much larger and stayed still. Having location so prominently on every contact is a complete waste it should be somewhere else, as it just makes the screen busier and more difficult to use.
Terrible UI decision in this latest update. I now have to swipe from left to right making it hard to answer a call with one hand (either left or right). I can only imagine the nightmare people with larger screens are going through... that's a lot of distance for a thumb. The original decision of swiping from bottom up was more universal for both right and left handed individuals. Please please please please revert that back!! 🙏
The latest update moved the recents tab to a menu item. The home button is supposed to show the recent calls according to what I've read online. Well guess what?! It only shows your contacts, no other options to change what you see on the home tab. Now you have to click 3 different places to see you recent calls and missed calls (if you are a Galaxy user). Back to stock Galaxy phone app... Sigh...
new update has ruined the contacts, now after opening the app I have to stretch hand across the entire screen to hit those small 3 lines to then click contacts then find the person I'm trying to call. having my favorite just at the top of the list is more of an annoyance than helping. bring back the old UI where my favorite had their own button on the bottom left. I don't care if it's just copying the fruit companies style. it makes sense and it's easier to use. stick to it!
After the latest update, I no longer have a 'favorites' screen. I used to have it open by default when opening the app, because 9 times out of 10 I need to call a number on this list. Now, I have a 'Favorites' ribbon on top of the screen, and have to drag the ribbon if the number I need to call is not among the first 5. The absolute worst update I've seen so far. I hate it when clueless people decide that they know what I need better than I do.
The previous version for the Pixel 6 was much easier and it was visually pleasing. As I stated it was visually pleasing because the contacts were listed alphabetically, the headers were corresponding letters for all names starting with the same letter, and the fonts were bigger. Using the previous version was easier because the different sections were at the bottom of the phone screen. From left to right you had Favorites, Recent Calls, Contacts, and Voicemail. It was all at your fingertips.
I absolutely despise the new update. I can't see my frequent calls/favorites easily anymore. I don't like the way voicemails aren't easily seen. Bring back the accessibility previously found because this is NOT it. I loved the favorites screen because it made it easy for my kids to find a contact and call/text for me when I'm driving (my car doesn't have cool features).
It works fine for the most part. I haven't tried WiFi calling recently to see if that issue has been resolved. But my biggest issue is having delayed voicemail notifications. Like, I missed a call, and an hour later I check my voicemail. Nothing. A day later I have a notification for a voicemail from the day before. Very frustrating.
I am unable to call one specific contact in my phone, it goes right to voicemail, and neither of us have blocked eachother. When I leave a voicemail they don't receive it. They are able to call me and leave voicemails I can listen to, but when I do answer there is no audio, even with the volume at max. I have tried all the troubleshooting that can possibly be done, clearing cache, data, restarts, uninstalls, factory reset etc, and it still doesn't work properly. Incredibly frustrating.
I do not like the new display with the phone. it takes up my whole screen with the number pad, and answering and hanging up the phone makes it look like a phone that belongs to someone in kindergarten! I have gone through every setting I can think of I'm not a tech person and I don't understand all the changes, unable to get it back to the original form. I wish you could change this because I really hate it ‼️ put it back where it was it was much simpler.
trying to find a money gram location. we called several locations that are listed on the web. 800 numbers are very limited as to what you can about. they're options are ridiculous like focusing on what language you want. customer service rep repeats what's already listed on the web, in which several businesses either don't deal with money gram, only accepts payments or don't have enough money to receive, so they were no help
I just recently did an update. And they changed it all around. they changed the buttons. I used to swipe up for a call and swipe down to decline it. they changed that and I just almost missed a phone call. I'm unsure about the other calls because how you supposed to learn it unless somebody calls you. stop change it the buttons. it's very annoying and nobody wants to learn a new system. whenever I talk to people they want to learn new stuff. keep it the way it was. it wasn't broken. don't fix
The new interface is terrible. The point of having a phone is to make and receive calls, not see all the calls you've made, received, or missed. With the new interface, Favorite contacts are in a slidable bar at the top of the screen and over half the screen is calling history. I want easy access to my Favorite contacts. I don't care about my calling history. Having it tucked away on a separate page was great - I could see it if I wanted to, but the rest of the time, it wasn't in the way.
This UI is so much worse than it was previously. If there was an option I could reverse it I would, one of my most used important piece that was used and now gone is the "Favorite" option where I can call my boss (job related), family, or friends. Like why would you take this most important component out of the call app that was the most thing that I've used on it. Also I do not like that you have to go on the upper left-hand corner to get access to contacts.
At this point I'd pay Google a subscription fee to stop putting AI garbage on my phone. It doesn't work and I don't want to do research and development for them. I just want a product that functions as expected. This morning's update made the app unusable as a modern phone. instead of an address book it has a small list of people the app thinks you want to call. Instead of a phone, it's a dial pad, a list of recent "spam likely" calls, and a random grouping of people the app is thinking about.

Instead of a phone, it's a dial pad, a list of recent "spam likely" calls, and a random grouping of people the app is thinking about.
recently started using the latest update and the new UI doesn't look very polished. I miss the traditional swipe up/down call answer gesture and don't see why it isn't an option within the phone settings. I'm also not a big fan of the enlarged buttons during a call. I do like that they are addressing the blank space, but maybe there could be a feature to customize the call button shapes / placements?
Terrible UI decision in this latest update. I now have to swipe from left to right making it hard to answer a call with one hand (either left or right). I can only imagine the nightmare people with larger screens are going through... that's a lot of distance for a thumb. The original decision of swiping from bottom up was more universal for both right and left handed individuals. Please please please please revert that back!! 🙏
Very frustrating.
you would think an update makes things easier.
