I'm only putting one star here because it's required to even make your post. My overall experience with the bank has not been great so far. The app never works. I can never see my balance and when it does I have to log out log back in multiple times . When I did deposit a check they was talking about it was going to be a 7-day hold and I had to pay a bill so that was overwhelming but at least they were able to go ahead and reject so I could cash it else where that same exact day actually.
Don't bank with them. I'm having issues with a transaction where it was immediately refunded. with Chime i saw the funds instantly. with this bank they're making me wait 7+ days for a refund. I went through the loop of talking to machines and pressed the button for them to call me. upon them calling me all that happned was they asked me to rate my satisfaction with the call I didn't even get to talk to anybody. very unprofessional.
Great app. Does What I need it to do. Notification doesn't clear all the time, but it doesn't cause issues. Would like the app to be aesthetically better
So, I can't log in. I went online, logged in, updated my information, then logged out. I typed the same information into the app, and it says the username and or password is incorrect. I click Forgot Password, then type in my username and phone number, which I'm then told does not match their records. What the hell? Only my address and email have changed. But I'm unable to access my account anymore. I......smh.
They've gotten a lot WORST over this last year!! I have been with them for 3 years and now I'm having all sorts of problems!!! My card keeps locking EVERYDAY I try to make an app to app transaction. And customer service is a COMPLETE joke!!! Not even the supervisors had reasons as to why and they could not fix my problem. I'm switching banks asap!!!!
I absolutely live this bank hands down. No surcharge fees, I don't have to make multiple transactions to keep the account open. Its awesome. However, I can't deposit cash into my account via ATM, the overdraft fee is steep and paying bills through the app is not instant and takes a few days. Because this bank is new to me and because I want to support my people, I'm going to tough it out as there is room for growth banking black.

This bank sucks. Considering it's the largest black owned bank. I am really disappointed in the customers service and the versatility of the account capabilities. Horrible trying to send money to someone else. Trying to get money out of my account when I needed to make a large purchase was a joke. And finally I could not find an ATM to deposit funds. Went to allpoint ATM and I could not deposit. Went to another one it was out of service. CS sent me to APCU...I give up.
I live in NY so there are zero physical establishments in my state, plus the 'nationwide free ATM service' is scarce if it even exists at all, I have yet to find a place that knows what I'm talking about. Also, not sure what the Advocate Profile and the BankBlack badges are for, the page has no information. It's just a blank page.

A bank with limited nationwide locations can not expect people to wait over a week for $ to show in the account, when Wells Fargo will have your funds available 24-48 hours later. I finally was able to reach customer service and found out if was because the endorsement was missing, "for deposit only..." I have 3 other checking accounts and none of them require this, although I can recall needing it to be written on the back of checks over 5 years ago... this is so outdated!! And annoying... please get better

And if there was in the FAQ of the website, it's not a straightforward user experience because I could not find that anywhere. The instant check deposit feature is not faster for those who do it for the first time when their account isn't new. The other, getting paid two days early, is not working for me.
I love the app. However it's frustrating that you cannot talk to anyone about questions you may have on your account. I have a pending charge that has been on there for the last 2 1/2 weeks that has been released by the merchant. But, cannot contact anyone from my BANK.. Fee's are unreal I would like to sign up for no overdraft.. it's hard times and $37 hurts!!!!
The app is by no means user-friendly, in addition to being slow and with ill-functioning app features, like Card Command, providing "access" to your digital card. Re-downloading the app doesn't help either. Customer service is friendly but often overly casual, which does not instill trust as an institution that holds my money. They also have no follow through: after calling customer service for a new card, 2 months later, it has yet to arrive. I'll be closing these accounts altogether.

So, I can't log in. I went online, logged in, updated my information, then logged out. I typed the same information into the app, and it says the username and or password is incorrect. I click Forgot Password, then type in my username and phone number, which I'm then told does not match their records. What the hell? Only my address and email have changed. But I'm unable to access my account anymore. I......smh.
This bank sucks. Considering it's the largest black owned bank. I am really disappointed in the customers service and the versatility of the account capabilities. Horrible trying to send money to someone else. Trying to get money out of my account when I needed to make a large purchase was a joke. And finally I could not find an ATM to deposit funds. Went to allpoint ATM and I could not deposit. Went to another one it was out of service. CS sent me to APCU...I give up.
I live in NY so there are zero physical establishments in my state, plus the 'nationwide free ATM service' is scarce if it even exists at all, I have yet to find a place that knows what I'm talking about. On top of not being able to deposit cash ever, my checks always take 10 business days to clear. I would really love to support this bank, but they don't make it easy.
The fact that it takes 6-9 business days for a mobile deposit to be available, makes the app and bank obsolete. Everything else is secondary. A bank with limited nationwide locations can not expect people to wait over a week for $ to show in the account, when Wells Fargo will have your funds available 24-48 hours later. Don't get me started on the less than stellar live customer service experience. Will probably close my account and check back in a couple of years to see if they've improved.
I tried to deposit a check on the mobile app twice and both times were rejected. I finally was able to reach customer service and found out if was because the endorsement was missing, "for deposit only..." I have 3 other checking accounts and none of them require this, although I can recall needing it to be written on the back of checks over 5 years ago... this is so outdated!! And annoying... please get better
The app is by no means user-friendly, in addition to being slow and with ill-functioning app features, like Card Command, providing "access" to your digital card. Re-downloading the app doesn't help either. Customer service is friendly but often overly casual, which does not instill trust as an institution that holds my money. They also have no follow through: after calling customer service for a new card, 2 months later, it has yet to arrive. I'll be closing these accounts altogether.
Don't bank with them. I'm having issues with a transaction where it was immediately refunded. with Chime i saw the funds instantly. with this bank they're making me wait 7+ days for a refund. I went through the loop of talking to machines and pressed the button for them to call me. upon them calling me all that happned was they asked me to rate my satisfaction with the call I didn't even get to talk to anybody. very unprofessional.
They've gotten a lot WORST over this last year!! I have been with them for 3 years and now I'm having all sorts of problems!!! My card keeps locking EVERYDAY I try to make an app to app transaction. And customer service is a COMPLETE joke!!! Not even the supervisors had reasons as to why and they could not fix my problem. I'm switching banks asap!!!!

No ability to access my funds via ACH, no card in 2 weeks, can't verify my external account thats already added on the account to transfer my funds, cant pay bills. Trying to be positive about banking black, but so far all they have done is take my money, but I can't spend it!
I'm only putting one star here because it's required to even make your post. My overall experience with the bank has not been great so far. The app never works. I can never see my balance and when it does I have to log out log back in multiple times . When I did deposit a check they was talking about it was going to be a 7-day hold and I had to pay a bill so that was overwhelming but at least they were able to go ahead and reject so I could cash it else where that same exact day actually.

Great app. Does What I need it to do. Notification doesn't clear all the time, but it doesn't cause issues. Would like the app to be aesthetically better

I absolutely live this bank hands down. No surcharge fees, I don't have to make multiple transactions to keep the account open. Its awesome. However, I can't deposit cash into my account via ATM, the overdraft fee is steep and paying bills through the app is not instant and takes a few days. Because this bank is new to me and because I want to support my people, I'm going to tough it out as there is room for growth banking black.

Not a bad app. For the past few days, I've had issues making mobile deposits. Tried taking the picture of the photo but could not. This feature would not let me snap a picture of the photo to make the deposit. Another issue is I cannot make external transfers with the app. I do like the banking transaction notifications I receive. I believe it's due to the Money Mgmt feature I set up. Also, not sure what the Advocate Profile and the BankBlack badges are for, the page has no information. It's just a blank page.
Update: I still can do everything I need without going into the actual bank. I just wish you could Zelle. POP costs. This app is very user friendly and does everything I need it to from bill pay to mobile check deposit to activity notifications to connecting with my other bank accounts. I have not had any issues. The only thing I could say would be that the design could be swankier but lack of style points won't make me rate them any lower. I love that I can log in with my fingerprint as well!

Looks nice, easy to navigate. No external transfers and barely any customer service. Depositing cheques is a nightmare. It's taken more than a month before. I just received 6 overdraft fees since yesterday but my account would be well in the clear if the cheque I deposited two weeks ago would show up. I want to support this bank but they're making it really hard to remain a customer.

Works well for the basics. As far as features go for check deposit, there are no clear instructions until you get an email on how to do that properly. And if there was in the FAQ of the website, it's not a straightforward user experience because I could not find that anywhere. The instant check deposit feature is not faster for those who do it for the first time when their account isn't new. The other, getting paid two days early, is not working for me.
I love the app. However it's frustrating that you cannot talk to anyone about questions you may have on your account. I have a pending charge that has been on there for the last 2 1/2 weeks that has been released by the merchant. But, cannot contact anyone from my BANK.. Fee's are unreal I would like to sign up for no overdraft.. it's hard times and $37 hurts!!!!

The bank and customer service are great. The app needs work though. Freezes sporadically when trying to log in and doesn't complete log in but flashes message that I've been timed out due to inactivity. Then when I do log in after that happens the app freezes on a screen that shows my customer profile information and won't allow me to go further then I have to close out of the app and go back in and start over. Leaves much to be desired. Thanks for hearing me out.
