Good work on the app. Not as buggy as others and more functionality has been added in balance with security. One useful addition would be to see the credit card balance when looking to transfer funds from the current account so I know the full total to pay (this used to be the case but it got removed). Also when doing a transfer my preference is to see the from account first and then the to account, again this was the case in previous version. All in all a good app.

After the recent update I am being forced to use dark mode. it's dark blue and looks absolutely horrendous, I used dark mode on my actual phone as I prefer the look, there is no way to turn off dark mode on the app if you have it enabled on your phone. so ugly and hard to see anything!

A great app that is organised really well to show you all of your accounts and spending history and I even made a new savings account in minutes purely from my phone. As far as banking apps go this is a good one and I would 100% recommend getting this if you have a nationwide account. It's also good for things like making bank transfers and being able to freeze your card.

The Nationwide app is very useful and easy to use. Day-to-day banking, checking balances, and making transfers are all straightforward, and the layout is clear and intuitive. The only drawback is when you’re living abroad. If you change your smartphone, it is impossible to re-download the app. because it doesn't accept foreign postcodes.

Great building society. But have to give 1 star for not having notifications of transactions. Makes life so much easier knowing outgoing/incoming transactions as they happen. Is also good for spotting transactions that dont look right. Needs adding asap every other bank app I have had utilised this for years.

Finally dark mode has arrived, it's only been 7 years in the waiting. let's hope they keep it going forward and maybe tweak it a little as right now it's better than all white but it is a little all blue, maybe alter the shades across different buttons, accounts and tiles. Thank you for finally easing my eyes.

Fairly good banking app. Having dark mode available now is good but I really dislike it being tied to my phone settings rather than being controlled in the app. I like my phone in dark mode but I dislike this app on dark mode with poor colour contrast in some areas while in dark mode. It would be great to have the choice of modes available within the app itself or to have more thought put into readability in dark mode (blue and dark green text on a navy background is a poor colour combination).

Dark Mode Awful - whilst I like the idea of the app having dark mode, it has not been executed well. For starters on my Pixel 9, when in dark mode the status bar at the top has black writing so I can't see the time, battery, 4g status while the app is open. the worst of all is that the app seems to follow the system theme. Please either sort the dark mode out or for the love of god just add a toggle in the settings, not sure why this wasn't done in the first place.

Dark mode has been added..great...but there is no switch for it within the app itself? Really? Sort it out, my phone has permanent dark mode selected and now I'm forced to use it when banking and I can't see the notification bar as it's been half cooked when implementing. Not good enough, Lloyds app first setting is this very option, guess what...it works App looks basic and has limited customisation which has improved somewhat over the years but the competition is ahead, way ahead some of them.

when transferring money between accounts, on completion of transfer it lists the accounts in an illogical order stating the To account first, then the From account second. Always results in a short heartstop as appears I've money the wrong way. Proper the debit is listed before the credit. Other than that seems like a decent app.

Looks like it was designed by a toddler. Used to be able to see everything I needed to, now I have to scroll to see my accounts and can't compare them. When going into an account it's really hard to read the transactions etc. Please just put it back, you're a building society not a play centre. Edit 28/06/2025 - please stop making overhauls to how the banking app looks, especially if its just going to be made worse

Developers completely missed the point with the dark navy blue background. After recent update the app is dark and illegible. There's no way to reverse it back to light mode within the app, you have to change the global phone settings. Also, the point of dark mode on oled screens is to conserve energy, by not lighting up pixels. Having even a dark blue background doesn't change anything, it is still draining power, while being barely legibly when you deal with your finances. Please fix it

Would be good to get a notification every time your card is used. I say this because last week, I was sat watching tv when my phone pinged twice, I look and saw that there were two purchases on my credit card. I went on my credit and blocked the card, but by that time a total of six transactions had taken place. God knows how much it would of been, if it hadn't been for the notifications. These transactions were for a place in America, so a toddle on/off for foreign transactions would be good.

This app has worked great so far until this morning when the app background became dark Thinking perhaps that I should uninstall and reload, which I did, only to find the background still dark. A pop up appeared this time which said I can change to a lighter background in settings....but where? Not all of us find the access to these "settings" easy.

Update AUG 25. At last, dark mode. About time. I have increased my rating from 1 to 3 stars accordingly. There are still no in/out balance bars (one of the original app's most useful features). The "lozenges" in the accounts table are still too large. I'll give another star if you fix these issues. The fifth star will be returned when you provide notifications.

Could be much better. There are several issues that really limit the usefulness of the app. There's no push notification when payments are made or money enters/leaves the account. Transaction dates in the current account are often wrong, usually showing a day late. There's also no option to deposit cheques electronically. Had I known about these shortcomings, I'd have thought twice before joining Nationwide

App is already dated. It was better than the ancient one it replaced but still, lacks many features that are standard with many bank apps. Verification via the app often doesn't work (no notification sent) the recently paid people section displays people you haven't paid in years but not your partner who you paid yesterday. No option for different pots either, which would be nice but the priority should be getting the thing to actually work.

This app works a treat, and does what it supposed to do. I can pay my bills, move money to different accounts, and saving is easier, as if I have any money left before pay day, I can move it to a savings account. I can view statements and check my spending on credit cards. If my debit card ever goes missing or stolen, I can freeze it before reporting it stolen. I wish you could scan cheques to pay in like some other banking apps. This is a very useful app, but wish you could pay in cheques.

Revised down to 1 star as crashes have just not been resolved, and I was asked for the card reader to make a new payment when not at home (meaning I had to transfer to another bank and pay from there). Otherwise a good app as can do most things on it, especially replacing the irritating card reader for routine tasks like adding a payee, but often asks to delete and reinstall, or that there's a service availability issue, yet when closing the app completely then restarting everything is fine!

I had to download the app onto a new device, and after entering all the required details, a technical error pop-up appears to either try again or check their status page ( status page reports everything is working fine). This happens several times. A week later, I tried again, and the same problem I called Nationwide was to make sure the details I entered were the same details they held on my online banking. Everything is identical to the details they hold in my online banking setup. ??

I have to write to say I would give Nationwide 10 stars if I was able. Having recently lost the main mortgage holder we have been treated with compassion, respect and dignity by all the staff at Nationwide Building Society (Stourbridge), the main bereavement team and the mortgage department . We were not hassled at all for any payments for the mortgage while the estate has been sorted (7 months) and were contacted regularly to find out how we were doing and for general updates. I cannot praise everyone enough and would recommend them to everyone who needs a business to keep their accounts and money safe. One phone call gets you through to a friendly voice in branch , call in branch and be dealt with efficiently or you can manage your money online just as easily. I am amazed at the bad reviews I have read so just had to speak out about my experience so THANK YOU NATIONWIDE and carry on with the way you are please. Hi. Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss, I can only imagine how difficult it must have been. I’ve sent your feedback on to those staff involved and needless to say, we’re all very touched that we may have helped to make a very difficult situation ever so slightly better. I’ve bounced around each of the challenger banks over the last few years and have come back to Nationwide solely because of their ethical credentials. Their apps and web banking are far behind in ease of use and features. - No push notifications for credits or debits to the account. - Convoluted and painful new payee setup. You need a card reader at hand and you can’t set up a Payee without sending them money, so it’s not like you can plan ahead. And you can’t change the payment reference once it’s set. With the demise of PayM there’s no quick and easy way to send money to people anymore. - Still things you can only do in web banking that you can’t do in the app so I have to use my work laptop for these. Hey Nationwide, plenty of people have access to a phone but not a computer. - Old fashioned embossed debit cards with limited freeze/un-freeze control. Let me disable the magnetic strip or foreign transactions. Let me see the card details in the app if I don’t have my wallet at hand. Stop putting number on the card so if it’s compromised you can change it on the back-end and don’t have to send me a new one. Have the Dev team open accounts with Monzo, Revolut, Starling, and Chase. Borrow all the best features from each app and bring Nationwide into 2022.

Generally a great app which is a breeze to manage money online. I have a couple of requests. 1) Please make the app work with the iPad Pro / Air Apple Magic Keyboard and TRACKPAD; attempting to scroll through transactions using the trackpad does nothing. As the app is so great otherwise, I find this a real annoyance and something that can’t be difficult to implement. 2) When I have set up a payee e.g. a tradesperson, plumber etc, please make it so we can enter a NEW PAYMENT REFERENCE each time we make a payment or overwrite the previous one. Many trades use unique invoice numbers, and I end up either having to delete the payee and re-enter the whole payee again, or just using my name as the payment reference. This really should be a trivial change, but would make the app perfect. Also a bit off feedback that you will implement a given suggestion would be good. I have tweeted these suggestions to you in the past and you say ‘thank you, but you may not/won’t receive a reply’ from the developer [that an idea, suggestion or improvement will be actively considered]. TBH, in these days of free and easy comms with developers and corporations, that doesn’t wash. Please get your human factors and requirements people to properly consider these requests and please let us know what improvements are in the works. Thank you.

I have used this app for several years now and it generally works OK with no issues. But it's missing one feature that most other banking apps have, the ability to pay in cheques. I have to go to my local branch, which is less than a mile away and pay cheques in through the ATM. Not a major inconvenience but it's only a small branch, with already severely restricted opening hours and I expect it's only a matter of time before it's closed down.

Since the last update on 30th September, I have been unable to view my account on the app, I have cleared the cache as instructed. After going through the secure connection and talking to Nationwide messages on screen it just sits at the loading screen forever. After a few minutes I just come out without viewing anything on the app.

With the last update, the right hand side menu has become of fixed length and all of the links don't fit when using the app on a small screen (4.5). There is no other way to get to those links apart from this menu. Basically the app has a limited functionality on a small screen.

Was happy with this app years ago, and have found it much faster to log in and pay bills than using a desktop computer. Unfortunately it has not moved with the times, and there are numerous missing features which other banking apps offer, the main one being the lack of paying in cheques by photo, but also the inability to add a new payee without using the card-reader, and the lack of customisable alerts, for example to show when money has been paid into your account, or large amounts out of it.

Easy to use and navigate. Great for keeping a close eye on all my finances, quick and easy to transfer money between accounts making saving and managing credit card easy. Easy to follow links to new products backed up with emails to keep you upto date with these. Easy and safe to transfer money to other people. I use this app pretty much every day.

I keep coming across more and more instances where the app on my iPhone X refuses to scroll down to the bottom of the current page, it just keeps springing back to the top. For example the ‘Makingg online shopping safer’ pop up was available above my back accounts, so I clicked on it, and the information was displayed, but I’ve tried to scroll down the page to read the rest of the info but it keeps springing back to the top of the page. I can see if I scroll and don’t let my finger leave the screen that there is a button at the bottom of the page to ‘setup fingerprint/facial recognition’ but I can’t click on it because it keeps going back to the top of the page. This also happens on multiple other parts of the app too, like on statements and my account overviews where I can only see what’s on the page as it loads, and can’t scroll down without it jumping back to the top. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and re-registering for online backing but it makes no difference. It still does it on many pages. I tried to tweet for support, where I was told that the support team were unable to see any images or videos that I sent them due to the app they use to view tweets, and then told to uninstall the and when I said that didn’t work, I was ignored. Poor customer service and a progressive worsening app from a building society claiming to be ‘on your side’ but really all they want it your money.... This app is really good, being able to see my balance on my Apple Watch and being able to get up pending transactions etc. As the app should do. However, I feel that this app is a bit old when it come to new technology and the things that you can do nowadays... for example I think the app would be great if it had a notifier for when you make payments or if one is made for example, if my card is used to make any transactions eg ATM, Online, contactless etc. Then a notification will come up instantly on my device to let me know the amount that has been taken out and why a bit like how Halifax have done it along with counting up and even Apple Wallet. I also think that Nationwide should take a page out of PayPal’s book and make it easier to make payments and transfers, for example we shouldn’t need to use the card reader to make a transfer, this should all be done using Touch ID or Face ID or even the pass number to access the app, this would make transactions a lot more faster for giving money to pay bills or family and friends. Other than that I think the app is good but I would really like to see these features in the near future. Thanks.

I was having problems and I tried to delete the app with every intention of downloading again. I successfully deleted the app or so I thought. But Siri took me to suggested app and I saw nationwide. Yet the original app had gone. So for some strange reason it allowed me to log on through the Siri suggested. Now because I can not download it again or delete the suggested. All I am doing is having nothing but problems. It stops working. Now all I want is to delete it completely and reinstall it properly. It just keeps crashing. Almost every other day. Please the developers please advise. What to do I use my nationwide app almost every day. I have just tried to go into my nationwide about 5 mins ago at first it didn’t do anything at all. So I pressed it and clicked quick balance it’s just going round and round and round. Not letting me on again. It please advise what to do it’s getting worse. It’s just not letting me delete the suggested wham I go on to Apple apps it’s just saying open. I honestly having sort of half deleted I want to completely delete and Re download. Was happy with this app years ago, and have found it much faster to log in and pay bills than using a desktop computer. Unfortunately it has not moved with the times, and there are numerous missing features which other banking apps offer, the main one being the lack of paying in cheques by photo, but also the inability to add a new payee without using the card-reader, and the lack of customisable alerts, for example to show when money has been paid into your account, or large amounts out of it.

After the recent update I am being forced to use dark mode. it's dark blue and looks absolutely horrendous, I used dark mode on my actual phone as I prefer the look, there is no way to turn off dark mode on the app if you have it enabled on your phone. so ugly and hard to see anything!

Great building society. But have to give 1 star for not having notifications of transactions. Makes life so much easier knowing outgoing/incoming transactions as they happen. Is also good for spotting transactions that dont look right. Needs adding asap every other bank app I have had utilised this for years.

Looks like it was designed by a toddler. Used to be able to see everything I needed to, now I have to scroll to see my accounts and can't compare them. When going into an account it's really hard to read the transactions etc. Please just put it back, you're a building society not a play centre. Edit 28/06/2025 - please stop making overhauls to how the banking app looks, especially if its just going to be made worse

Developers completely missed the point with the dark navy blue background. After recent update the app is dark and illegible. There's no way to reverse it back to light mode within the app, you have to change the global phone settings. Also, the point of dark mode on oled screens is to conserve energy, by not lighting up pixels. Having even a dark blue background doesn't change anything, it is still draining power, while being barely legibly when you deal with your finances. Please fix it

Revised down to 1 star as crashes have just not been resolved, and I was asked for the card reader to make a new payment when not at home (meaning I had to transfer to another bank and pay from there). Otherwise a good app as can do most things on it, especially replacing the irritating card reader for routine tasks like adding a payee, but often asks to delete and reinstall, or that there's a service availability issue, yet when closing the app completely then restarting everything is fine!

I had to download the app onto a new device, and after entering all the required details, a technical error pop-up appears to either try again or check their status page ( status page reports everything is working fine). This happens several times. A week later, I tried again, and the same problem I called Nationwide was to make sure the details I entered were the same details they held on my online banking. Everything is identical to the details they hold in my online banking setup. ??

Since the last update on 30th September, I have been unable to view my account on the app, I have cleared the cache as instructed. After going through the secure connection and talking to Nationwide messages on screen it just sits at the loading screen forever. After a few minutes I just come out without viewing anything on the app.

A great app that is organised really well to show you all of your accounts and spending history and I even made a new savings account in minutes purely from my phone. As far as banking apps go this is a good one and I would 100% recommend getting this if you have a nationwide account. It's also good for things like making bank transfers and being able to freeze your card.

The Nationwide app is very useful and easy to use. Day-to-day banking, checking balances, and making transfers are all straightforward, and the layout is clear and intuitive. The only drawback is when you’re living abroad. If you change your smartphone, it is impossible to re-download the app. because it doesn't accept foreign postcodes.

Finally dark mode has arrived, it's only been 7 years in the waiting. let's hope they keep it going forward and maybe tweak it a little as right now it's better than all white but it is a little all blue, maybe alter the shades across different buttons, accounts and tiles. Thank you for finally easing my eyes.

Fairly good banking app. Having dark mode available now is good but I really dislike it being tied to my phone settings rather than being controlled in the app. I like my phone in dark mode but I dislike this app on dark mode with poor colour contrast in some areas while in dark mode. It would be great to have the choice of modes available within the app itself or to have more thought put into readability in dark mode (blue and dark green text on a navy background is a poor colour combination).

Dark Mode Awful - whilst I like the idea of the app having dark mode, it has not been executed well. For starters on my Pixel 9, when in dark mode the status bar at the top has black writing so I can't see the time, battery, 4g status while the app is open. the worst of all is that the app seems to follow the system theme. Please either sort the dark mode out or for the love of god just add a toggle in the settings, not sure why this wasn't done in the first place.

Dark mode has been added..great...but there is no switch for it within the app itself? Really? Sort it out, my phone has permanent dark mode selected and now I'm forced to use it when banking and I can't see the notification bar as it's been half cooked when implementing. Not good enough, Lloyds app first setting is this very option, guess what...it works App looks basic and has limited customisation which has improved somewhat over the years but the competition is ahead, way ahead some of them.

when transferring money between accounts, on completion of transfer it lists the accounts in an illogical order stating the To account first, then the From account second. Always results in a short heartstop as appears I've money the wrong way. Proper the debit is listed before the credit. Other than that seems like a decent app.

Would be good to get a notification every time your card is used. I say this because last week, I was sat watching tv when my phone pinged twice, I look and saw that there were two purchases on my credit card. I went on my credit and blocked the card, but by that time a total of six transactions had taken place. God knows how much it would of been, if it hadn't been for the notifications. These transactions were for a place in America, so a toddle on/off for foreign transactions would be good.

This app has worked great so far until this morning when the app background became dark Thinking perhaps that I should uninstall and reload, which I did, only to find the background still dark. A pop up appeared this time which said I can change to a lighter background in settings....but where? Not all of us find the access to these "settings" easy.

Update AUG 25. At last, dark mode. About time. I have increased my rating from 1 to 3 stars accordingly. There are still no in/out balance bars (one of the original app's most useful features). The "lozenges" in the accounts table are still too large. I'll give another star if you fix these issues. The fifth star will be returned when you provide notifications.

Could be much better. There are several issues that really limit the usefulness of the app. There's no push notification when payments are made or money enters/leaves the account. Transaction dates in the current account are often wrong, usually showing a day late. There's also no option to deposit cheques electronically. Had I known about these shortcomings, I'd have thought twice before joining Nationwide

Good work on the app. Not as buggy as others and more functionality has been added in balance with security. One useful addition would be to see the credit card balance when looking to transfer funds from the current account so I know the full total to pay (this used to be the case but it got removed). Also when doing a transfer my preference is to see the from account first and then the to account, again this was the case in previous version. All in all a good app.

App is already dated. It was better than the ancient one it replaced but still, lacks many features that are standard with many bank apps. Verification via the app often doesn't work (no notification sent) the recently paid people section displays people you haven't paid in years but not your partner who you paid yesterday. No option for different pots either, which would be nice but the priority should be getting the thing to actually work.

This app works a treat, and does what it supposed to do. I can pay my bills, move money to different accounts, and saving is easier, as if I have any money left before pay day, I can move it to a savings account. I can view statements and check my spending on credit cards. If my debit card ever goes missing or stolen, I can freeze it before reporting it stolen. I wish you could scan cheques to pay in like some other banking apps. This is a very useful app, but wish you could pay in cheques.

I’ve bounced around each of the challenger banks over the last few years and have come back to Nationwide solely because of their ethical credentials. Their apps and web banking are far behind in ease of use and features. - No push notifications for credits or debits to the account. - Convoluted and painful new payee setup. You need a card reader at hand and you can’t set up a Payee without sending them money, so it’s not like you can plan ahead. And you can’t change the payment reference once it’s set. With the demise of PayM there’s no quick and easy way to send money to people anymore. - Still things you can only do in web banking that you can’t do in the app so I have to use my work laptop for these. Hey Nationwide, plenty of people have access to a phone but not a computer. - Old fashioned embossed debit cards with limited freeze/un-freeze control. Let me disable the magnetic strip or foreign transactions. Let me see the card details in the app if I don’t have my wallet at hand. Stop putting number on the card so if it’s compromised you can change it on the back-end and don’t have to send me a new one. Have the Dev team open accounts with Monzo, Revolut, Starling, and Chase. Borrow all the best features from each app and bring Nationwide into 2022.

I have to write to say I would give Nationwide 10 stars if I was able. Having recently lost the main mortgage holder we have been treated with compassion, respect and dignity by all the staff at Nationwide Building Society (Stourbridge), the main bereavement team and the mortgage department . We were not hassled at all for any payments for the mortgage while the estate has been sorted (7 months) and were contacted regularly to find out how we were doing and for general updates. I cannot praise everyone enough and would recommend them to everyone who needs a business to keep their accounts and money safe. One phone call gets you through to a friendly voice in branch , call in branch and be dealt with efficiently or you can manage your money online just as easily. I am amazed at the bad reviews I have read so just had to speak out about my experience so THANK YOU NATIONWIDE and carry on with the way you are please. Hi. Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss, I can only imagine how difficult it must have been. I’ve sent your feedback on to those staff involved and needless to say, we’re all very touched that we may have helped to make a very difficult situation ever so slightly better. This app is really good, being able to see my balance on my Apple Watch and being able to get up pending transactions etc. As the app should do. However, I feel that this app is a bit old when it come to new technology and the things that you can do nowadays... for example I think the app would be great if it had a notifier for when you make payments or if one is made for example, if my card is used to make any transactions eg ATM, Online, contactless etc. Then a notification will come up instantly on my device to let me know the amount that has been taken out and why a bit like how Halifax have done it along with counting up and even Apple Wallet. I also think that Nationwide should take a page out of PayPal’s book and make it easier to make payments and transfers, for example we shouldn’t need to use the card reader to make a transfer, this should all be done using Touch ID or Face ID or even the pass number to access the app, this would make transactions a lot more faster for giving money to pay bills or family and friends. Other than that I think the app is good but I would really like to see these features in the near future. Thanks.

Generally a great app which is a breeze to manage money online. I have a couple of requests. 1) Please make the app work with the iPad Pro / Air Apple Magic Keyboard and TRACKPAD; attempting to scroll through transactions using the trackpad does nothing. As the app is so great otherwise, I find this a real annoyance and something that can’t be difficult to implement. 2) When I have set up a payee e.g. a tradesperson, plumber etc, please make it so we can enter a NEW PAYMENT REFERENCE each time we make a payment or overwrite the previous one. Many trades use unique invoice numbers, and I end up either having to delete the payee and re-enter the whole payee again, or just using my name as the payment reference. This really should be a trivial change, but would make the app perfect. Also a bit off feedback that you will implement a given suggestion would be good. I have tweeted these suggestions to you in the past and you say ‘thank you, but you may not/won’t receive a reply’ from the developer [that an idea, suggestion or improvement will be actively considered]. TBH, in these days of free and easy comms with developers and corporations, that doesn’t wash. Please get your human factors and requirements people to properly consider these requests and please let us know what improvements are in the works. Thank you.

I keep coming across more and more instances where the app on my iPhone X refuses to scroll down to the bottom of the current page, it just keeps springing back to the top. For example the ‘Makingg online shopping safer’ pop up was available above my back accounts, so I clicked on it, and the information was displayed, but I’ve tried to scroll down the page to read the rest of the info but it keeps springing back to the top of the page. I can see if I scroll and don’t let my finger leave the screen that there is a button at the bottom of the page to ‘setup fingerprint/facial recognition’ but I can’t click on it because it keeps going back to the top of the page. This also happens on multiple other parts of the app too, like on statements and my account overviews where I can only see what’s on the page as it loads, and can’t scroll down without it jumping back to the top. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and re-registering for online backing but it makes no difference. It still does it on many pages. I tried to tweet for support, where I was told that the support team were unable to see any images or videos that I sent them due to the app they use to view tweets, and then told to uninstall the and when I said that didn’t work, I was ignored. Poor customer service and a progressive worsening app from a building society claiming to be ‘on your side’ but really all they want it your money.... I was having problems and I tried to delete the app with every intention of downloading again. I successfully deleted the app or so I thought. But Siri took me to suggested app and I saw nationwide. Yet the original app had gone. So for some strange reason it allowed me to log on through the Siri suggested. Now because I can not download it again or delete the suggested. All I am doing is having nothing but problems. It stops working. Now all I want is to delete it completely and reinstall it properly. It just keeps crashing. Almost every other day. Please the developers please advise. What to do I use my nationwide app almost every day. I have just tried to go into my nationwide about 5 mins ago at first it didn’t do anything at all. So I pressed it and clicked quick balance it’s just going round and round and round. Not letting me on again. It please advise what to do it’s getting worse. It’s just not letting me delete the suggested wham I go on to Apple apps it’s just saying open. I honestly having sort of half deleted I want to completely delete and Re download. So it works as well as it used too. Can someone please please advise and help. Thank you

Easy to use and navigate. Great for keeping a close eye on all my finances, quick and easy to transfer money between accounts making saving and managing credit card easy. Easy to follow links to new products backed up with emails to keep you upto date with these. Easy and safe to transfer money to other people. I use this app pretty much every day.

With the last update, the right hand side menu has become of fixed length and all of the links don't fit when using the app on a small screen (4.5). There is no other way to get to those links apart from this menu. Basically the app has a limited functionality on a small screen.

I have used this app for several years now and it generally works OK with no issues. But it's missing one feature that most other banking apps have, the ability to pay in cheques. I have to go to my local branch, which is less than a mile away and pay cheques in through the ATM. Not a major inconvenience but it's only a small branch, with already severely restricted opening hours and I expect it's only a matter of time before it's closed down.

Stop putting number on the card so if it’s compromised you can change it on the back-end and don’t have to send me a new one. Have the Dev team open accounts with Monzo, Revolut, Starling, and Chase. Borrow all the best features from each app and bring Nationwide into 2022.

Generally a great app which is a breeze to manage money online. I have a couple of requests. 1) Please make the app work with the iPad Pro / Air Apple Magic Keyboard and TRACKPAD; attempting to scroll through transactions using the trackpad does nothing. As the app is so great otherwise, I find this a real annoyance and something that can’t be difficult to implement. 2) When I have set up a payee e.g. a tradesperson, plumber etc, please make it so we can enter a NEW PAYMENT REFERENCE each time we make a payment or overwrite the previous one. Many trades use unique invoice numbers, and I end up either having to delete the payee and re-enter the whole payee again, or just using my name as the payment reference. This really should be a trivial change, but would make the app perfect. Also a bit off feedback that you will implement a given suggestion would be good. I have tweeted these suggestions to you in the past and you say ‘thank you, but you may not/won’t receive a reply’ from the developer [that an idea, suggestion or improvement will be actively considered]. TBH, in these days of free and easy comms with developers and corporations, that doesn’t wash. Please get your human factors and requirements people to properly consider these requests and please let us know what improvements are in the works. Thank you.

I have used this app for several years now and it generally works OK with no issues. But it's missing one feature that most other banking apps have, the ability to pay in cheques. I have to go to my local branch, which is less than a mile away and pay cheques in through the ATM. Not a major inconvenience but it's only a small branch, with already severely restricted opening hours and I expect it's only a matter of time before it's closed down.

Since the last update on 30th September, I have been unable to view my account on the app, I have cleared the cache as instructed. After going through the secure connection and talking to Nationwide messages on screen it just sits at the loading screen forever. After a few minutes I just come out without viewing anything on the app.

With the last update, the right hand side menu has become of fixed length and all of the links don't fit when using the app on a small screen (4.5). There is no other way to get to those links apart from this menu. Basically the app has a limited functionality on a small screen.

Was happy with this app years ago, and have found it much faster to log in and pay bills than using a desktop computer. Unfortunately it has not moved with the times, and there are numerous missing features which other banking apps offer, the main one being the lack of paying in cheques by photo, but also the inability to add a new payee without using the card-reader, and the lack of customisable alerts, for example to show when money has been paid into your account, or large amounts out of it.

Easy to use and navigate. Great for keeping a close eye on all my finances, quick and easy to transfer money between accounts making saving and managing credit card easy. Easy to follow links to new products backed up with emails to keep you upto date with these. Easy and safe to transfer money to other people. I use this app pretty much every day.

I keep coming across more and more instances where the app on my iPhone X refuses to scroll down to the bottom of the current page, it just keeps springing back to the top. For example the ‘Makingg online shopping safer’ pop up was available above my back accounts, so I clicked on it, and the information was displayed, but I’ve tried to scroll down the page to read the rest of the info but it keeps springing back to the top of the page. I can see if I scroll and don’t let my finger leave the screen that there is a button at the bottom of the page to ‘setup fingerprint/facial recognition’ but I can’t click on it because it keeps going back to the top of the page. This also happens on multiple other parts of the app too, like on statements and my account overviews where I can only see what’s on the page as it loads, and can’t scroll down without it jumping back to the top. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and re-registering for online backing but it makes no difference. It still does it on many pages. I tried to tweet for support, where I was told that the support team were unable to see any images or videos that I sent them due to the app they use to view tweets, and then told to uninstall the and when I said that didn’t work, I was ignored. Poor customer service and a progressive worsening app from a building society claiming to be ‘on your side’ but really all they want it your money.... This app is really good, being able to see my balance on my Apple Watch and being able to get up pending transactions etc. As the app should do. However, I feel that this app is a bit old when it come to new technology and the things that you can do nowadays... for example I think the app would be great if it had a notifier for when you make payments or if one is made for example, if my card is used to make any transactions eg ATM, Online, contactless etc. Then a notification will come up instantly on my device to let me know the amount that has been taken out and why a bit like how Halifax have done it along with counting up and even Apple Wallet. I also think that Nationwide should take a page out of PayPal’s book and make it easier to make payments and transfers, for example we shouldn’t need to use the card reader to make a transfer, this should all be done using Touch ID or Face ID or even the pass number to access the app, this would make transactions a lot more faster for giving money to pay bills or family and friends. Other than that I think the app is good but I would really like to see these features in the near future. Thanks.

I was having problems and I tried to delete the app with every intention of downloading again. I successfully deleted the app or so I thought. But Siri took me to suggested app and I saw nationwide. A great app that is organised really well to show you all of your accounts and spending history and I even made a new savings account in minutes purely from my phone. As far as banking apps go this is a good one and I would 100% recommend getting this if you have a nationwide account. It's also good for things like making bank transfers and being able to freeze your card.

The Nationwide app is very useful and easy to use. Day-to-day banking, checking balances, and making transfers are all straightforward, and the layout is clear and intuitive. The only drawback is when you’re living abroad. If you change your smartphone, it is impossible to re-download the app. because it doesn't accept foreign postcodes.

I have to write to say I would give Nationwide 10 stars if I was able. Having recently lost the main mortgage holder we have been treated with compassion, respect and dignity by all the staff at Nationwide Building Society (Stourbridge), the main bereavement team and the mortgage department . We were not hassled at all for any payments for the mortgage while the estate has been sorted (7 months) and were contacted regularly to find out how we were doing and for general updates. I cannot praise everyone enough and would recommend them to everyone who needs a business to keep their accounts and money safe. One phone call gets you through to a friendly voice in branch , call in branch and be dealt with efficiently or you can manage your money online just as easily. I am amazed at the bad reviews I have read so just had to speak out about my experience so THANK YOU NATIONWIDE and carry on with the way you are please. Hi. Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss, I can only imagine how difficult it must have been. I’ve sent your feedback on to those staff involved and needless to say, we’re all very touched that we may have helped to make a very difficult situation ever so slightly better. Finally dark mode has arrived, it's only been 7 years in the waiting. let's hope they keep it going forward and maybe tweak it a little as right now it's better than all white but it is a little all blue, maybe alter the shades across different buttons, accounts and tiles. Thank you for finally easing my eyes.

when transferring money between accounts, on completion of transfer it lists the accounts in an illogical order stating the To account first, then the From account second. Always results in a short heartstop as appears I've money the wrong way. Proper the debit is listed before the credit. Other than that seems like a decent app.

Good work on the app. Not as buggy as others and more functionality has been added in balance with security. One useful addition would be to see the credit card balance when looking to transfer funds from the current account so I know the full total to pay (this used to be the case but it got removed). Also when doing a transfer my preference is to see the from account first and then the to account, again this was the case in previous version. All in all a good app.

This app works a treat, and does what it supposed to do. I can pay my bills, move money to different accounts, and saving is easier, as if I have any money left before pay day, I can move it to a savings account. I can view statements and check my spending on credit cards. If my debit card ever goes missing or stolen, I can freeze it before reporting it stolen. I wish you could scan cheques to pay in like some other banking apps. This is a very useful app, but wish you could pay in cheques.

Fairly good banking app. Having dark mode available now is good but I really dislike it being tied to my phone settings rather than being controlled in the app. I like my phone in dark mode but I dislike this app on dark mode with poor colour contrast in some areas while in dark mode. It would be great to have the choice of modes available within the app itself or to have more thought put into readability in dark mode (blue and dark green text on a navy background is a poor colour combination).

Dark Mode Awful - whilst I like the idea of the app having dark mode, it has not been executed well. For starters on my Pixel 9, when in dark mode the status bar at the top has black writing so I can't see the time, battery, 4g status while the app is open. the worst of all is that the app seems to follow the system theme. Please either sort the dark mode out or for the love of god just add a toggle in the settings, not sure why this wasn't done in the first place.

Dark mode has been added..great...but there is no switch for it within the app itself? Really? Sort it out, my phone has permanent dark mode selected and now I'm forced to use it when banking and I can't see the notification bar as it's been half cooked when implementing. Not good enough, Lloyds app first setting is this very option, guess what...it works App looks basic and has limited customisation which has improved somewhat over the years but the competition is ahead, way ahead some of them.

Would be good to get a notification every time your card is used. I say this because last week, I was sat watching tv when my phone pinged twice, I look and saw that there were two purchases on my credit card. I went on my credit and blocked the card, but by that time a total of six transactions had taken place. God knows how much it would of been, if it hadn't been for the notifications. These transactions were for a place in America, so a toddle on/off for foreign transactions would be good.

Update AUG 25. At last, dark mode. About time. I have increased my rating from 1 to 3 stars accordingly. There are still no in/out balance bars (one of the original app's most useful features). The "lozenges" in the accounts table are still too large. I'll give another star if you fix these issues. The fifth star will be returned when you provide notifications.

I’ve bounced around each of the challenger banks over the last few years and have come back to Nationwide solely because of their ethical credentials. Their apps and web banking are far behind in ease of use and features. - No push notifications for credits or debits to the account. - Convoluted and painful new payee setup. You need a card reader at hand and you can’t set up a Payee without sending them money, so it’s not like you can plan ahead. And you can’t change the payment reference once it’s set. With the demise of PayM there’s no quick and easy way to send money to people anymore. - Still things you can only do in web banking that you can’t do in the app so I have to use my work laptop for these. Hey Nationwide, plenty of people have access to a phone but not a computer. - Old fashioned embossed debit cards with limited freeze/un-freeze control. Let me disable the magnetic strip or foreign transactions. Let me see the card details in the app if I don’t have my wallet at hand. Stop putting number on the card so if it’s compromised you can change it on the back-end and don’t have to send me a new one. Have the Dev team open accounts with Monzo, Revolut, Starling, and Chase. Borrow all the best features from each app and bring Nationwide into 2022.

This app has worked great so far until this morning when the app background became dark Thinking perhaps that I should uninstall and reload, which I did, only to find the background still dark. A pop up appeared this time which said I can change to a lighter background in settings....but where? Not all of us find the access to these "settings" easy.

Could be much better. There are several issues that really limit the usefulness of the app. There's no push notification when payments are made or money enters/leaves the account. Transaction dates in the current account are often wrong, usually showing a day late. There's also no option to deposit cheques electronically. Had I known about these shortcomings, I'd have thought twice before joining Nationwide

App is already dated. It was better than the ancient one it replaced but still, lacks many features that are standard with many bank apps. Verification via the app often doesn't work (no notification sent) the recently paid people section displays people you haven't paid in years but not your partner who you paid yesterday. No option for different pots either, which would be nice but the priority should be getting the thing to actually work.

After the recent update I am being forced to use dark mode. it's dark blue and looks absolutely horrendous, I used dark mode on my actual phone as I prefer the look, there is no way to turn off dark mode on the app if you have it enabled on your phone. so ugly and hard to see anything!

Great building society. But have to give 1 star for not having notifications of transactions. Makes life so much easier knowing outgoing/incoming transactions as they happen. Is also good for spotting transactions that dont look right. Needs adding asap every other bank app I have had utilised this for years.

Looks like it was designed by a toddler. Used to be able to see everything I needed to, now I have to scroll to see my accounts and can't compare them. When going into an account it's really hard to read the transactions etc. Please just put it back, you're a building society not a play centre. Edit 28/06/2025 - please stop making overhauls to how the banking app looks, especially if its just going to be made worse

Developers completely missed the point with the dark navy blue background. After recent update the app is dark and illegible. There's no way to reverse it back to light mode within the app, you have to change the global phone settings. Also, the point of dark mode on oled screens is to conserve energy, by not lighting up pixels. Having even a dark blue background doesn't change anything, it is still draining power, while being barely legibly when you deal with your finances. Please fix it

Revised down to 1 star as crashes have just not been resolved, and I was asked for the card reader to make a new payment when not at home (meaning I had to transfer to another bank and pay from there). Otherwise a good app as can do most things on it, especially replacing the irritating card reader for routine tasks like adding a payee, but often asks to delete and reinstall, or that there's a service availability issue, yet when closing the app completely then restarting everything is fine!

I had to download the app onto a new device, and after entering all the required details, a technical error pop-up appears to either try again or check their status page ( status page reports everything is working fine). This happens several times. A week later, I tried again, and the same problem I called Nationwide was to make sure the details I entered were the same details they held on my online banking. Everything is identical to the details they hold in my online banking setup. ??

These transactions were for a place in America, so a toddle on/off for foreign transactions would be good.

This app has worked great so far until this morning when the app background became dark Thinking perhaps that I should uninstall and reload, which I did, only to find the background still dark. A pop up appeared this time which said I can change to a lighter background in settings....but where? Not all of us find the access to these "settings" easy.

Update AUG 25. At last, dark mode. About time. I have increased my rating from 1 to 3 stars accordingly. There are still no in/out balance bars (one of the original app's most useful features). The "lozenges" in the accounts table are still too large. I'll give another star if you fix these issues. The fifth star will be returned when you provide notifications.

Could be much better. There are several issues that really limit the usefulness of the app. There's no push notification when payments are made or money enters/leaves the account. Transaction dates in the current account are often wrong, usually showing a day late. There's also no option to deposit cheques electronically. Had I known about these shortcomings, I'd have thought twice before joining Nationwide

Good work on the app. Not as buggy as others and more functionality has been added in balance with security. One useful addition would be to see the credit card balance when looking to transfer funds from the current account so I know the full total to pay (this used to be the case but it got removed). Also when doing a transfer my preference is to see the from account first and then the to account, again this was the case in previous version. All in all a good app.

App is already dated. It was better than the ancient one it replaced but still, lacks many features that are standard with many bank apps. Verification via the app often doesn't work (no notification sent) the recently paid people section displays people you haven't paid in years but not your partner who you paid yesterday. No option for different pots either, which would be nice but the priority should be getting the thing to actually work.

This app works a treat, and does what it supposed to do. I can pay my bills, move money to different accounts, and saving is easier, as if I have any money left before pay day, I can move it to a savings account. I can view statements and check my spending on credit cards. If my debit card ever goes missing or stolen, I can freeze it before reporting it stolen. I wish you could scan cheques to pay in like some other banking apps. This is a very useful app, but wish you could pay in cheques.

Revised down to 1 star as crashes have just not been resolved, and I was asked for the card reader to make a new payment when not at home (meaning I had to transfer to another bank and pay from there). Otherwise a good app as can do most things on it, especially replacing the irritating card reader for routine tasks like adding a payee, but often asks to delete and reinstall, or that there's a service availability issue, yet when closing the app completely then restarting everything is fine!

I had to download the app onto a new device, and after entering all the required details, a technical error pop-up appears to either try again or check their status page ( status page reports everything is working fine). This happens several times. A week later, I tried again, and the same problem I called Nationwide was to make sure the details I entered were the same details they held on my online banking. Everything is identical to the details they hold in my online banking setup. ??

I’ve bounced around each of the challenger banks over the last few years and have come back to Nationwide solely because of their ethical credentials. Their apps and web banking are far behind in ease of use and features. - No push notifications for credits or debits to the account. - Convoluted and painful new payee setup. You need a card reader at hand and you can’t set up a Payee without sending them money, so it’s not like you can plan ahead. And you can’t change the payment reference once it’s set. With the demise of PayM there’s no quick and easy way to send money to people anymore. - Still things you can only do in web banking that you can’t do in the app so I have to use my work laptop for these. Hey Nationwide, plenty of people have access to a phone but not a computer. - Old fashioned embossed debit cards with limited freeze/un-freeze control. Let me disable the magnetic strip or foreign transactions. Let me see the card details in the app if I don’t have my wallet at hand. Stop putting number on the card so if it’s compromised you can change it on the back-end and don’t have to send me a new one. Have the Dev team open accounts with Monzo, Revolut, Starling, and Chase. Borrow all the best features from each app and bring Nationwide into 2022.

I have to write to say I would give Nationwide 10 stars if I was able. Having recently lost the main mortgage holder we have been treated with compassion, respect and dignity by all the staff at Nationwide Building Society (Stourbridge), the main bereavement team and the mortgage department . We were not hassled at all for any payments for the mortgage while the estate has been sorted (7 months) and were contacted regularly to find out how we were doing and for general updates. I cannot praise everyone enough and would recommend them to everyone who needs a business to keep their accounts and money safe. One phone call gets you through to a friendly voice in branch , call in branch and be dealt with efficiently or you can manage your money online just as easily. I am amazed at the bad reviews I have read so just had to speak out about my experience so THANK YOU NATIONWIDE and carry on with the way you are please. Hi. Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss, I can only imagine how difficult it must have been. I’ve sent your feedback on to those staff involved and needless to say, we’re all very touched that we may have helped to make a very difficult situation ever so slightly better. This app is really good, being able to see my balance on my Apple Watch and being able to get up pending transactions etc. As the app should do. However, I feel that this app is a bit old when it come to new technology and the things that you can do nowadays... for example I think the app would be great if it had a notifier for when you make payments or if one is made for example, if my card is used to make any transactions eg ATM, Online, contactless etc. Then a notification will come up instantly on my device to let me know the amount that has been taken out and why a bit like how Halifax have done it along with counting up and even Apple Wallet. I also think that Nationwide should take a page out of PayPal’s book and make it easier to make payments and transfers, for example we shouldn’t need to use the card reader to make a transfer, this should all be done using Touch ID or Face ID or even the pass number to access the app, this would make transactions a lot more faster for giving money to pay bills or family and friends. Other than that I think the app is good but I would really like to see these features in the near future. Thanks.

Generally a great app which is a breeze to manage money online. I have a couple of requests. 1) Please make the app work with the iPad Pro / Air Apple Magic Keyboard and TRACKPAD; attempting to scroll through transactions using the trackpad does nothing. As the app is so great otherwise, I find this a real annoyance and something that can’t be difficult to implement. 2) When I have set up a payee e.g. a tradesperson, plumber etc, please make it so we can enter a NEW PAYMENT REFERENCE each time we make a payment or overwrite the previous one. Many trades use unique invoice numbers, and I end up either having to delete the payee and re-enter the whole payee again, or just using my name as the payment reference. This really should be a trivial change, but would make the app perfect. Also a bit off feedback that you will implement a given suggestion would be good. I have tweeted these suggestions to you in the past and you say ‘thank you, but you may not/won’t receive a reply’ from the developer [that an idea, suggestion or improvement will be actively considered]. TBH, in these days of free and easy comms with developers and corporations, that doesn’t wash. Please get your human factors and requirements people to properly consider these requests and please let us know what improvements are in the works. Thank you.

I keep coming across more and more instances where the app on my iPhone X refuses to scroll down to the bottom of the current page, it just keeps springing back to the top. For example the ‘Makingg online shopping safer’ pop up was available above my back accounts, so I clicked on it, and the information was displayed, but I’ve tried to scroll down the page to read the rest of the info but it keeps springing back to the top of the page. I can see if I scroll and don’t let my finger leave the screen that there is a button at the bottom of the page to ‘setup fingerprint/facial recognition’ but I can’t click on it because it keeps going back to the top of the page. This also happens on multiple other parts of the app too, like on statements and my account overviews where I can only see what’s on the page as it loads, and can’t scroll down without it jumping back to the top. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and re-registering for online backing but it makes no difference. It still does it on many pages. I tried to tweet for support, where I was told that the support team were unable to see any images or videos that I sent them due to the app they use to view tweets, and then told to uninstall the and when I said that didn’t work, I was ignored. Poor customer service and a progressive worsening app from a building society claiming to be ‘on your side’ but really all they want it your money.... I was having problems and I tried to delete the app with every intention of downloading again. I successfully deleted the app or so I thought. But Siri took me to suggested app and I saw nationwide. Yet the original app had gone. So for some strange reason it allowed me to log on through the Siri suggested. Now because I can not download it again or delete the suggested. All I am doing is having nothing but problems. It stops working. Now all I want is to delete it completely and reinstall it properly. It just keeps crashing. Almost every other day. Please the developers please advise. What to do I use my nationwide app almost every day. I have just tried to go into my nationwide about 5 mins ago at first it didn’t do anything at all. So I pressed it and clicked quick balance it’s just going round and round and round. Not letting me on again. It please advise what to do it’s getting worse. It’s just not letting me delete the suggested wham I go on to Apple apps it’s just saying open. I honestly having sort of half deleted I want to completely delete and Re download. So it works as well as it used too. Can someone please please advise and help. Thank you

Since the last update on 30th September, I have been unable to view my account on the app, I have cleared the cache as instructed. After going through the secure connection and talking to Nationwide messages on screen it just sits at the loading screen forever. After a few minutes I just come out without viewing anything on the app.

Easy to use and navigate. Great for keeping a close eye on all my finances, quick and easy to transfer money between accounts making saving and managing credit card easy. Easy to follow links to new products backed up with emails to keep you upto date with these. Easy and safe to transfer money to other people. I use this app pretty much every day.

With the last update, the right hand side menu has become of fixed length and all of the links don't fit when using the app on a small screen (4.5). There is no other way to get to those links apart from this menu. Basically the app has a limited functionality on a small screen.

I have used this app for several years now and it generally works OK with no issues. But it's missing one feature that most other banking apps have, the ability to pay in cheques. I have to go to my local branch, which is less than a mile away and pay cheques in through the ATM. Not a major inconvenience but it's only a small branch, with already severely restricted opening hours and I expect it's only a matter of time before it's closed down.

Was happy with this app years ago, and have found it much faster to log in and pay bills than using a desktop computer. Unfortunately it has not moved with the times, and there are numerous missing features which other banking apps offer, the main one being the lack of paying in cheques by photo, but also the inability to add a new payee without using the card-reader, and the lack of customisable alerts, for example to show when money has been paid into your account, or large amounts out of it.
