I generally really like this app, but recently I've had an issue with a pop up that opens every time I open the app. It is telling me I don't have notifications enabled, and I don't want notifications enabled, so I hit dismiss, but it pops up literally every single time I open the app, which is very frequently in a day. I cannot find a way to contact support for this on the app or on Microsoft's website. I sent an email to the address listed on here but it came back as undeliverable.
Microsoft To do has the basics but lacks the necessary automation and QoL features that other apps have. For example, syncing with smart home devices, sharing to other Todo apps in case of company policies, setting repeat occurrences for a set amount of times, etc. Some features would be easy to add but there hasn't been any substantial update to the app for years. Overall, seek an alternative unless you can settle with only Microsoft syncing and lackluster QoL.
OMG!! They BROKE what was a very good app! Completed "tasks" can no longer be sorted which makes this app USELESS. We mostly use this app for shopping lists with hundreds of items on the list, mostly in the completed section. When we again need the item, we just uncheck it. When these items were listed alphabetically they were easy to find. Now they are in random order and impossible to find. WOW
For a little over a week, I've been experiencing a bug where every time I create a new to-do/item in a list, the little icon pops up indicating there's a note in the item, even though there never is. I've even tried adding and removing a note to see if it goes away, and it doesn't make any difference. Not a huge deal, but it takes up space on my screen and makes it harder to find list items that do actually have notes, so it's been fairly annoying.
I think Microsoft To-Do is one of the better applications out there. I do think from an tracking standpoint, adding more Outlook and project like features would help tremendously. For example, if a task goes "unchecked" where I can find my "overdue" items? You can't. Another example, if I want to copy the subtasks into another new task, you can't do that. Another example, if I want to group tasks that are dependent on each other for completion, you can't. So much potential!
Pros: I like that it syncs data to my Windows laptop, and that there's a web view for other environments. I also really like that it works with Outlook to track flagged emails. Aesthetically I would describe it as "fine". Cons: recurring tasks are clunky, and there's a bug that's marking them as checked off even when I have not indicated that the task is done. This is *the whole point* of this app, and it cannot do it reliably. For that reason, I must give it a poor rating.
UPDATE: I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, but it's still looping back over and over again. It's totally useless now. I used to love the app, but a recent update or change causes the app to be caught up in an endless loop. I tried clear cache, but no effect. Will uninstall it and see if it works again. Too bad, because I really liked it.
Since last update, app is unusable. Stuck in loop requiring me to sign in to one of my two accounts. If I'm in one account it immediately requires me to sign in to the other. I can't even use the feedback function. Otherwise, a great app. I've been using it for years, I would use it all the time if it was functional. I guess there are alternatives out there though.
This app is pretty excellent - but To Do, generally, would get 5 stars from me, save from a couple of minor (yet probably personal to me) changes I would like. However, the android app I'm just giving 4 stars, on the basis that I spent ages setting up categories via the outlook web app, which then allows you to use them in browser To Do, but they just don't show up on the android app. Why? This doesn't seem like a big thing to implement for something complained about for ages.
All of a sudden I got a "sign back into your account" notification, and, upon pressing it, the app brings me to a white loading screen. After a few seconds it brings me back into the app, seemingly logged in. My notes are there. Then, after a few seconds, it brings me back to the white loading SCREEN (on its own), then back to the regular screen again. Neverending cycle. I tried deleting the app, clearing cache, and reinstalling it, and it does just the same, except now ALL MY NOTES ARE GONE!
Not having the ability to put numeric task ranking for importance is an enormous downside to this task list. Everything is either equally important or equally not important. That's ridiculous. I use categories in the desktop version to address this serious deficiency. It is still a meaningful gap there too. There is no good way to address it here.
I really like this BUT I wish there was an easy way way to make grocery shopping lists. I wanted an app to keep track of my to do list and shopping lists. it would be nice to have priority levels as well. I do like the connection with the Microsoft products as I trust them much more than google.
This app used to be pretty awesome and I used it for maintaining lists of all types... But after a most recent update, all it does now is cycle through trying to do something... I see all my lists but as soon as I go into any of them it wants to cycle through and just put the swirling circle in the middle for about 5 seconds then go back to the main screen... And it appears to be alternating different accounts, only one of which is the correct account.
App started crashing repeatedly today. No updates available. Never had this problem before. Rating one star because the feedback email listed here in the Play Store is apparently invalid. Gotta leave your customers a way to reach you for important problems. I use this app every day and now it's completely non-functional. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.
If you’re using Microsoft 365, this tool is a game-changer. I didn’t really know how to use it effectively until I took a class and explored resources from Crucial Learning’s Getting Things Done (GTD). It introduced me to practical tips and tricks for integrating my email, calendar, and other Microsoft 365 apps. Since then, it has been incredibly helpful in keeping me organized both at work and at home.
Used to work great but for the last month it keeps saying to login on the widget but when I do it makes me login and verify my identity twice in a row and then gives me an error the second time saying, "Too many requests." I really enjoy using this app especially with the search feature. I hope it can be fixed soon or I'll have to find another way to manage my tasks.
I used to love this app. WHY you guys would do this with your latest update is more than beyond. Every single time I open this now, a box pops up & tells me my notifs are off & I can go into settings & turn them on. Wow thanks! No clue you morons. I have them off for a reason. I don't want to turn them back on EVER, & I don't need a stupid reminder EVERY single time! There's no option in settings to turn off this pop up box either! Please get rid of this!
Won't stop harassing me about notifications. Every single time I open the app to put something on my grocery list I get a notification that I haven't turned on notifications. I neither want nor need notifications for my grocery list. I hit "dismiss" every time, but yet the harassment endures. I cannot find a setting to turn this off.
I do everything in this. lists for movies, leaving town checklist, groceries, Costco, doctor visits, Xmas lists.... it does it all. Groceries are great because you tend to get the same food items. Just check or uncheck the items you need. you can invite someone else to share your list, so if your partner ends up at the store, you could add items from home and they get it immediately. it's the best list organizer I've ever used.
Horrible, horrible experience - learned my lesson the painful way, Microsoft products are so unreliable I can never again rely on them. How can you rely on software that breaks just when needed most? And breaks as in simply can't access at all, data all locked up, but can't open the app no matter how much you uninstall/reinstall. No thanks, I'm done.
I would have to say that overall Microsoft To-Do is a fantastic app and definitely the best to-do list app I have used. They make it very easy for someone with an ever growing and changing list of things that need to be done to organize everything in their life. For example: I have my main tasks listed in the default list but I also have a list for each of the jobs I work, and a group with lists for all of my college classes and their assignments. And the best part is you can view everything that needs to be done today, tomorrow, next week, and later from all of those lists all on one page in the “Planned” tab. This app also works really well across multiple platforms by instantly syncing changes. I use it on my iPhone, iPad, and Windows PC. A main feature I would really love to see added for the versions on iOS and iPadOS is the ability to add Microsoft To-Do to your widgets this way you can see and check things off your list all right from your home screen. My biggest complaint is that whenever you add a task from the “Planned” tab it defaults to being due yesterday??? But overall it’s a to-do list app and I think you would have a really difficult time finding a better one out there.
Last never miss a notification update made it WORSE! Loved this app. Now it barely functions. I have so many tasks & lists; so many reminders, recurring or single. 90% of them don't remind me anymore. At all. Some will just fall off after being snoozed, if I'm lucky, & others I won't get notifications for at all. I've done all the settings for not getting reminders, pin the app (though it somehow still closes), talked to support, for nothing. I installed their suggested app, nothing. Useless.
Great app! Keeps me on track. What I'd like to see though is reminders also repeat when a task repeats. Repeating tasks can't be set for a particular weekday for monthly, but yes for weekly...odd. Like I want a repeating task for Sat. once a month...can't do that. A calendar view would be great. When the app updates, my tasks in the status bar disappear but don't return after (minor thing).
The best of what I've tried and that's a lot. No list or task app really handles recurring tasks well. This one is no different. Most things are great. I like having an app version in windows. Good for sharing. Sub groups would be nice. Moving and organizing can be difficult. Overall 3, that's still the best of the lot and this is the one I still just.
Been searching for a good list app for over a year now and this one has come the closest to capturing the qualities I'm looking for. It's very well organized and focused. Edit: Keeps popping up notifications for features I've already declined, and keeps resetting my settings. This is obnoxious. I'm going to switch to a different list app.
This app is extremely useful and, unlike many apps that are merely fun and interesting, this one could literally change your life or business if applied thoughtfully. It has some features built in which seem to follow suggestions from mainstream best sellers on organization such as one of my personal favorites: Getting Things Done by David Allen. I know it is based off another program which I never owned. I use the app on my iPhone, iPad and two versions on my desktop—one in a web browser and an iOS app. All four versions have similar features but actually have some extra features you gave to search for almost like a treasure hunt! The browser version allows you to copy tasks and next steps which allows you to create templates for repeated tasks. You can share lists with friends/co-workers as well to delegate next-steps. I recommend you explore the program thoroughly before spending time making detailed lists—there are a few things it cannot do, and knowing what they are helps you to organize your lists properly. I am still exploring the program but have been using it with a lot of success. Good luck. I’m sure Microsoft will continue to improve the program over time.
This could be the perfect Android app if it had just two more features. It would be nice to be able to either delete or uncheck all checked items. For example, with a long shopping list it would be nice to be able to delete everything at once that has been checked. And for a long packing list it would be nice to be able to uncheck everything once you have packed. Add these two features and it's the perfect notes app.
This morning, the creators of “Microsoft To Do” FINALLY fixed enough of the features on this app to meet my former expectations of “Wunderlist!” “Microsoft To Do” (at first) had a lot of fun new features like colorful backgrounds for lists, and a few more sorting options, but was still missing some of the BASICS I enjoyed in “Wunderlist:” Here are my favorite two: 1) Being able to quickly recover a RECENTLY checked-off item at the TOP of the completed items, within a given list. Example: In “To Do” completed items were initially only alphabetized. I have an ongoing (reusable) grocery list including HUNDREDS of products. I even number them, by aisle, to ensure I see them “in order.” (Even if I’m in a different store, it still, at least, “categorizes” them together). But an “accidentally checked off” item, while shopping, was virtually GONE (until I got home & realized what was missing). This was fixed! Now I can just look at the TOP of the completed list. And, 2) Now I can see upcoming tasks separated out BY DAYS. In the past, anything beyond tomorrow was lumped together. Now, just like in Wunderlist, I can quickly find an upcoming day to which a task can be quickly moved/reassigned. And one of my favorite NEWER features of “To Do:” if you want certain tasks to recur/repeat in the future, say, only Mondays Wednesdays & Fridays (as opposed to once a week, or once a day) it can do this! Very cool. Keep up the great work!
So I’m trying to wean myself off Wunderlist to the To Do app and while it’s not terrible there are issues. For one I’m not crazy about the Planned section at all. If anything it feels cluttered and unorganized. The earlier tab brings up tasks I’ve not set dates for and ironically haven’t used recently but the only way I can remove them is by marking them as complete and 100% eliminating them. So unless I want to continuously create a new shopping task rather than edit the preexisting one in my earlier tab I guess they’ll have to hang around uselessly in Planned. The other issue I have with Planned is how jumbled up the rest of the week looks when you’re trying to see what tasks are coming up. In Wunderlist your week was sectioned into days and your tasks were allotted to those days. Now the tasks are all piled together under one tab that accounts for most of the week and it just seems like unnecessary clutter. The other issues I came across was that “My Day” doesn’t auto populate which seems rather redundant and I preferred when the important tasks moved to the top of the lists. It would also be really awesome to move the tasks assigned to each day in an order of importance if that became available. I know To Do is still an app in progress but I do rely upon my planners a lot and hope it eventually becomes as successful as the beloved Wunderlist.
The way this functions and performs has the robustness, flexibility, dependability and platform-agnosticism to be a reliable personal task manager. It provides enough structure so one doesn’t need to think too much about where things go, yet isn’t too rigid where you feel like you need to work around limitations/restrictions. Works the same across all devices. Has rich-enough detail to use as a quick notes inbox w/ photo and file attachment included. Easy to add subtasks. Has alert and due dates as separate fields for fine tuned notifications. The only thing that needs to be added is geofence-based notifications so one can schedule alerts to be triggered when leaving or reaching a designated location. It would be great if this could also be combined with the alert times too, so you could schedule an notification for when you leave work only after 5:00pm. This feature is available in Apple reminders, and that comes really close to To Do minus the native app availability on other platforms. Microsoft, if you’re reading this, y’all have made the ultimate free task management app, and it has significantly improved my life. If you can add the geolocation features that would make this app perfect!

Useless.

WOW

I really like this BUT I wish there was an easy way way to make grocery shopping lists. I wanted an app to keep track of my to do list and shopping lists. it would be nice to have priority levels as well. I do like the connection with the Microsoft products as I trust them much more than google.
Not having the ability to put numeric task ranking for importance is an enormous downside to this task list. Everything is either equally important or equally not important. That's ridiculous. I use categories in the desktop version to address this serious deficiency. It is still a meaningful gap there too. There is no good way to address it here.
WOW

I would have to say that overall Microsoft To-Do is a fantastic app and definitely the best to-do list app I have used. They make it very easy for someone with an ever growing and changing list of things that need to be done to organize everything in their life.
