Signed up, work for a large company, not listed. Then once in I am asked to join a bowl, but there are just a few like "San Francisco bay area" and stuff like motorcycle clubs. Doesn't really make a lot of sense since I joined to learn about salaries, where I place and where coworkers place (this was what the advertisement said) - none of that was available. It looks like it would just be easier to ask them. But the app is clunky and it seems like maybe another LinkedIn.

This app is mostly great but has one major flaw. Any comment or post can be reported for any reason. So if people don't like your opinion, they can report you and your account will be suspended. The whole point of this app was to be able to speak honestly without being cancelled for doing so - so this flaw ruins it.

fish bowl has been a very good marketing tool and networking application that I have used for the last few months. This application has various programs for different people including entrepreneurs and workers alike. i

Fishbowl advertises as an app that discloses salaries to help you negotiate your own. Aside from a handful of posts, there was zero salary info. They also request your company email or LinkedIn so it's not very anonymous. There is also a lot of bots and spam accounts. The interface is also outdated and difficult to use.

I downloaded this app in hopes to not only learn about a job but to give a review for others. It wanted a work email and they don't give us that at my job. It was quite frustrating as they seem to only focus on higher jobs in companies. I'm not sure if I was doing it wrong or what but it's not fun trying to navigate when it won't even let you confirm that you work for the company you say you work for.

If you are a Pilot or an Aircraft Mechanic, this isn't a great app at all. None of the info is not current for any of the airlines and the app, once you sign in and get it set up, just reminds me of social media. People are on there asking questions about what the appropriate body count is before marriage. If you're on to find out about a job, I wouldn't recommend it.

I want to like this app but there are WAY too many notifications. I don't know if it was on purpose, but the notification image is a butt plug. I know it's a fish... but that shape is also a butt plug. To turn off all notifications, I have to select TWENTY-SEVEN toggle switches, half of which are in separated areas, so it's really 33 clicks to turn off push notifications. Uninstalling was one click.

It makes you use a work email but my workplace blocks this type of site. I keep getting spammed at work that I need to sign in or I'll lose access. When I try to sign in from another device using my work email I just get a screen telling me to wait. I did get on the site a long time ago but when I finally managed to get on recently there was nothing on there, no news feed, no groups to join. I clicked on one of the companies and got the wait screen again. it's pretty useless

Intrusive app... I joined 2 years ago on the recommendation of a colleague. I spent little time using it, uninstalled shortly after and STILL 2 years later I get emails and texts to my phone telling me my account is about to be deactivated. I could care less if that happens. I block the number the texts come from every single time, but they keep using different numbers. Based on that, I will never use Fishbowl again.

Good, but not Great Good community, but the app has issues: 1. When I receive a notification and click on it, even though I view the post, the notification stays unread in the notification section. It should be marked as read now that I've viewed it 2. There should be ways to sort posts by "most commented" "recency" etc sort of like reddit or other communities. I do appreciate the variety of ways to customize notifications from specific bowls though. I also like the variety of ways to "like" a post as well. It's getting there just a few minor annoyances. Also, a personal gripe....the Media Agency PHD Media exists, but the posts pull in EVERY mention of a "PhD" into that area so it's pretty much useless.

When I signed up, my phone autocorrected my last name to "Seesaw" lol. There was no option to go back after it auto advanced me to the next part of the sign up. Once signed in, I found that there was no way to edit my own name without the need to contact support and apparently provide them with WAY more personal information via email. Information that was not required during sign up. No thanks, I deactivated and may or may not try again in 30 days after the account is fully deleted.

Strange verification methods. I signed up for Fishbowl years ago and I keep getting emails that say "acrion required to keep access." No matter what I did, it would have that on my messages and now that I have uninstalled the app, it takes me to the play store when I click on Keep Access, so I just deleted it today. It looked like it was going to be a good app, but hasn't been very user-friendly or accessible.

There are major differences in the performance of the Android and iOS apps. Grrrrr. On my Android, I keep getting a connection error. When I requested to join a bowl, I got an error. When I click on a link, it doesn't allow me to open in browser. The processing speed is slow to open comments on a post. When scrolling through the comments, the feed will jump to the top or bottom on it's own. I gave 3 stars because I can see the platform being very promising for networking. Please fix the bugs.

Once you sign up, you will get emails about questions. That's fine, but if you click on the email, the link opens in the browser. Again that's fine. But if you want to look at hidden messages in the thread it insist that you should download the app and says that you are looking at a preview. However, I have the app my phone. So why didn't the email open the app. And I can't find the thread I wanted to read in the app. Fix this. Update - I got a canned response to contact support.

I want so badly for this app to be good. The website isn't very good and neither is the app-within-an-app inside of Glassdoor. NOPE. The app really, really wants to send you notifications. Every time you comment, there is a pop-up about notifications with vague text. There is nearly no customizing the kinds of notifications you get either. It's very buggy. Constant crashes, freezes, "you don't have permission" when clicking a notification. Reporting functionality is nearly zero.

I accidentally clicked a fishbowl notification, it brought up the app, and I swiped it away immediately. Then I noticed some studio from a live event was streaming on my phone. I could figure out how to turn it off in the app, and couldn't find the live event player. Had to force stop the app. This was my first user experience with this app. It's super invasive and has a horrible user interface.

Teaching is the kind of profession that you just can't explain to people who have never taught. I get plenty of encouragement and support from family and friends but at the end of the day they still struggle to understand what I really do as a teacher and how it can be so rewarding yet utterly exhausting. Reading other experiences and sharing my own with people who really get it is awesome. I've had the app a short time and I have already stolen, oops I mean borrowed, some great ideas! :)

We all know the person (if not are the person) that won’t ask the question because they’re afraid of being laughed at or think they should already know the answer. So many people have had the job they want to know more about but don’t want their boss / coworker to find out they’re poking around because of the rumor mill that starts. Or the company that you had a terrible experience at but when someone asks for opinions on working for that company you feel pressured to lie or avoid answering so it can’t come back that you said anything negative. This app solves it all. Honest business people asking honest questions and giving honest answers to help one another. Plus the live chats with C suite execs and experts in different fields. This app is for anyone that is trying to learn how to career change, fulfill their career goals or just have a place to ask the questions you’re afraid to ask since you don’t have to share your identity. Just wish I knew about it sooner and that it had been available when I first entered the marketplace.

The perfect place to learn anonymously! *Warning Longwinded review ahead Do you have a question you aren’t comfortable asking your team mates? Do you want to help others learn more about your firm? Do you just want to look at memes geared towards a niche group? Do any of the questions sound like you? Well you are in the right place, ask and interact anonymously or share your entire profile for a different experience completely. I was a little hesitant to join at first but once I joined the community my fears melted away. I can say this is the best resource to quickly interact with intelligent and knowledgeable professionals around any topic you can imagine. Like with most apps of this nature you will encounter trolls but I’d say the 80-20 rule definitely applies here with the 80 being the individuals who truly want to help. I have noticed myself using this app more often than reddit and LinkedIn now, mostly as a lurker! So what are you waiting for join us here in the fishbowl! who knows we may interact with each other, and I hope we do!

...but Fishbowl deserves the five stars. This app is amazing. It actually is a place where down to earth professionals share and collaborate. A couple of the live talks I’ve attended are in my top ten ‘talks’ including whatever you can find online — and the fact that you can ask really talented and accomplished people questions conversationally is awesome. I’ve had great conversations, learned things applicable to my day to day at work, and have received relevant and actionable advice on things from advancing my career and building a company, to strategy and tactics. Honestly, the only critiques I have are for them to add features to the live talks. Maybe allow reactions and record it. Though the fact that you can’t do those things might be what makes them flow so well, it’s truly and thoughtfully moderated. And it makes the experience unique and unrepeatable. Great draws. Okay, I’ve raved so much about Fishbowl I think I need to tell you: I don’t work for the company nor do I know anyone who does. I found the app randomly, I think it was in an article in the App Store. Random. Good search/marketing maybe. Either way, so glad I found it.

I absolutely love the app and the concept. Gives out a lot of information which you can’t get otherwise. My only struggle has been the font size and slow performance. Hangs at least thrice a day. But most importantly, it’s too small of a font to type and keep reading long articles. I moved to iPad but the font remains the same. You should come out with a web version for better readability and better engagement of the audience. Just my two cents. Update: I have major concerns with their reporting function. There is no transparency and you never know what you get reported for. They just revoke your access for messaging which is a bummer. I would appreciate if the team is transparent on red flags and warns early than revoking the access without any notice. Update - the customer support is not responsive and doesn’t give valid and transparent answers. After providing so much information to people, it’s practically useless if you can’t make full use of it. The app can do much better.

I don’t particularly WANT to write a poor review for Fishbowl because I’ve historically enjoyed this app and think it’s generally a decent social media platform for professionals working in similar functions to me. That said, I feel I have to point out how poorly automated and moderated this app is. First, the automation. Every profile-related thing you do goes under manual review. You want to join Fishbowl by submitting your profile? Manual review. You want to change your title? Manual review. Almost every process that seems like it should be automated in some form for an app of Fishbowl’s size must pass through the moderation team. The moderation team is not quick to respond, either. I found I would wait days or weeks before finally contacting support to streamline the process. I’ve seen complaints of even longer waits posted to Reddit. Second, the moderation. I noticed a comment below about being automatically banned or shadowbanned on Fishbowl as a result of less than a handful of reports, and have to echo this as a major issue of the app. The biggest problem at this point is some toxic users are aware of how to game this system, and actively abuse it. This results in a cycle of normal, friendly users being shadowbanned for fighting back against trolls/bullies and innocuous posts being removed. Hi Bye Fishbowl, we appreciate your feedback as we're always working on ways to better the Fishbowl experience for our community. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our team at [email protected] who can further assist you with your account and we welcome any additional feedback.

...but Fishbowl deserves the five stars.

Doesn't really make a lot of sense since I joined to learn about salaries, where I place and where coworkers place (this was what the advertisement said) - none of that was available. It looks like it would just be easier to ask them. But the app is clunky and it seems like maybe another LinkedIn.

This app is mostly great but has one major flaw. Any comment or post can be reported for any reason. So if people don't like your opinion, they can report you and your account will be suspended. The whole point of this app was to be able to speak honestly without being cancelled for doing so - so this flaw ruins it.

...but Fishbowl deserves the five stars.
