Was 5 stars. Call blocker has stopped working - again. One of the major reasons, but not the only one, that I keep renewing this every year is because of the usually excellent call blocking. But lately it has become unreliable, allowing multiple scam calls to get through. I've tried force stopping, clearing cache, checking settings including battery optimization, and I can't figure out what's wrong. Will uninstall and reinstall to see what happens.
Bought the premium version as I have a hacker attacking my phones, tablets. Figured if anything it would keep them from opening and using my apps with the app lock feature..... Well it didn't take them long to show me that the app lock feature is absolutely useless. Even with a fresh factory reset, fresh install and all security locks in place (Finger print, etc) , they are able to access everything on it. Only thing it does is send a notification that lets me know they have been on it.
~It seemed aggravating at first, but the frequent reminders and notices are important, in order to fine-tune and get your device stable with this mobile security app. but now I hardly ever get a notice, because I'm running a clean machine Android phone now LOL, but yes seriously, it is worth the $18 a year. kind of like phone insurance, so you don't end up with a useless doorstop for a phone! I am a cheap bastard, but this app is definitely worth the small yearly subscription fee!
Had a notifications issue, but no longer. The current version works well. 5 stars. 1/16-Whenever the app is opened, a message appears saying to enable notifications, and when you tap its details box, nothing happens. Have to run a scan or go into another screen and then come back to remove the message. I've already given the app permission for notifications that are enabled. So, deleted the app, installed a previous version, and the msg no longer pops up. Needs a fix, then rating to 5.
I didn't pay for the annual subscription, just use the free version. It's a decent Antivirus App overall but it has one annoying flaw. It will require frequent module update roughly 2-3 every other day. If you paid for it, this feature would become automatic. Since I used the free version it kept notifying me over these tedious updates. It was too much. Consider premium if you're interested.
The anti-theft feature is extremely difficult to disable/enable. I have installed eset on a half dozen devices (win/iOS/Android) and it has *never* fully been able to connect properly to devices, and once enabled, it has *never* allowed me to disable the service to turn off the nagging to fix the error. Logging into your accounts to try to disable it only causes an error, and it asks you to try again. I give up.
When you want an anti-virus for your smart device, but you want things simple, these guys have you covered. I deal with apk files from sketchy sites, and they've kept me covered any time I had something that wasn't safe. That being said, it's a basic free av, has a trial for premium features. Ui isn't bad on the eyes either. Overall, not too shabby.
It stopped locking my apps. It has a feature that locks apps you select, requiring you to enter a pin to open the app. I used this for a few apps, and it randomly stopped locking them. Had to re-add the apps to the lock selection. Frankly, it could've ended badly. I let my co-workers and friends use my phone sometimes since my banking apps and gallery are locked. Who knows how long ago it removed those apps from the locked list. This is a large security concern, who knows if it will do it again.
I have been using this scanner for many years and I have many years to go. I'm paid up for years to come. Scans fast and have never had a breach on my phone yet, relative to the app. Got some warnings like web based stuff but nothing went through. This app paired with a VPN is an almost unbeatable pair. There's many features that I have activated that are included in the fee. Setup is pretty intuitive but the more time you initially invest, the more you get out of its safety features.
Having problems with the app updating (again). It will take DAYS for the app to run a scan and NOT FINISH!!!! I haven't reactivated the auto subscribe in my Google play account because of this RECURRING issue. I will have to find a better and more reliable antivirus app. I've used ESET for almost 15 years on one or more devices; I guess it's time to move on to something newer and better.
I used ESET for years on my old phone, so I'm putting it on my new phone. It's absolutely trustworthy, quick to catch anything and covers all aspects of keeping my phone safe, clean, and healthy. Very easy to use, just set it up and let it run on it's own. You'll hear from it quickly when a threat or a problem shows up. It's sensitive and accurate and provides info about the threat, and gives you the option with several choices in deciding what you want to do about it. Gives peace of mind!
Back in mid-to-late 1990's and early 2000's, I was overly confident that my antivirus was protecting every nook & cranny of my albatross of a PC (with its small fraction of processing power and storage of today's smartphones). These days, I feel less secure. ESET isn't enough by itself, but its free scanner is useful as one defense in a larger arsenal. (Update Jan. 2024: Changed from 4 to 5 stars. Can't expect more from a free app. Thanks for making it available, ESET.)
The best mobile security and PC antivirus software out there. This small app will never slow your system down. Not like Norton or McAffe that bring your system to a speed similar to hibernation, ESET powers through all your files finding threats and quarantining them. No, I do not work for ESET. I'm just a consumer who has had my fair share of crappy virus software, and I'm happy to have one that finally works the way it should, in the background, forgotten until an alert comes up. Thanks ESET

Logging into your accounts to try to disable it only causes an error, and it asks you to try again. I give up.
