been using since the pandemic, it just keeps getting more and more bloated. And it keeps asking for me to pay for more features or add this widget or add that alarm. I just want to meditate. now that I can't even use the simplest timer with a gong function without data connection, I'm saying goodbye. it was good back when it was free and simple. Now it is better for those that need guided meditations and life coaching.

Access to a ton of content, which is great. Navigating that content is hit or miss and the search leaves something to be desired. The app constantly interrupts you for input, check-ins, teacher ratings, which is fine except there's no obvious way to turn them off. It just forced me to reconfirm my email address, year of birth, and the whole "why you're here" section. An app that feels needy and insecure...

This app was, at one point, the perfect app. but that was quite a while ago, and many iterations. much like facebook, they choose to change it on a whim, changing the entire platform. this is by far one of the most stress-inducing apps I have on my phone. I wish there was a viable alternative, but all the other apps just don't have as much music selection. as soon as I find a viable alternative, I will immediately switch. this app frequently makes me want to pull my hair out.

Right now I only use it for the meditation timer, but I do want to do more with it eventually cos it's got a ton of content. The meditation timer is everything I wanted & then some. I just wanted to be able to have some preset meditations with intervals (which was surprisingly hard to find); it does that, plus it keeps track of my meditation stats and even lets me discard a session if I don't want it to count toward the stats (which is great cos I use it to keep my showers short). Awesome app!

This used to be a great app, but now they're heavily pushing user engagement with forcing you to click "I'm committed" after a meditation and several more selections before you can start another meditation, with no way to skip these steps. Is it just me, or shouldn't a meditation app allow me to be, ahem, MINDFUL of what I "commit" to?

All I wanted was to download a free audio file & downloading from the website is no longer allowed. I don't have fast internet so streaming doesn't work. I don't appreciate being forced to install an app then being forced to do the trial of the paid version to download anything so I can listen to it properly offline. I never do trials of paid versions because it's mean to glimpse a luxury I will never own & cancelling is a nuisance. I don't have an income. No app is worth renting indefinitely.

I absolutely love Insight Timer and always recommend it to anyone and everyone. There are so many different meditations, talks, and music tracks available that I could spend all day listening if I was able to. I always feel better after listening, no matter what I listen to. Thank you to everyone who provides us with their amazing, thoughtful, and loving gifts!

Just began using this. It's a little awkward when you don't reach your Daily Goal. You need to put this first -- if you're coming back UP.. this helps u schedule your time but in my case, other's days interfere w my goals.. starting slow is best n still hard for me to reach the simplest goals. If I started any slower, I'd still be in the same place. 😂

I've used this app for over a decade, but it's now terrible because of the non-stop in-your-face exhortations to track every part of one's meditation experience and icky upselling popups. Rate the meditation! How do you feel? Oops, you missed a day - slap your hand and don't you dare do that again! Buy a pricey subscription now! Totally goes against a peaceful experience and is stressful. I've been using another, better app (Neo) that has one-time paid features and YouTube videos. Uninstalled.

I'm grateful for this app and the way it has helped me become a beginner at practicing mediation. I greatly appreciate the variety of meditations, the free library and the free challenge courses I've participated in this year. The app works well with zero issues. Most importantly, the experience has made an impact on my life. Thank you.

July 2025 thinking about finding another, more simple app.. Too many pop-ups that can't be disabled. Too many menus to find the features I've used for 9 years! Subscription is expensive & according to most reviews not worth it anymore, so I won't re-subscribe. Nov. 2021 Love this app, it got me into regular meditation. Some of the live sessions have been transformative! Made some really beautiful connections through the groups feature too. Thank you for creating such a lovely community :)

I love this app - SO many different tracks to choose from in the free version, it's amazing. however, I can no longer find where to "SET AN INTENTION" for the day to show up in my widget. It looks like it was switched to a "goal" which I don't need - I already have many to do list apps and notepads for that. I just want to set an intention/reminder and see it on my widget on my home screen. Is there a way to get that back???

I would like to give a better review and more stars, but now when you open up the app, you are being harassed by a multitude of questions. I just want to open the app up and listen to mellow music to sleep, not constantly being harassed. After several years of using this app, which I used to like, I think I'm going to delete it and find something else. A different app that doesn't continuously ask me the same questions after answering them. You've destroyed a good app, why?

This app literally pulls me out of the darkest hours of my life. What i really enjoy is that you dont have to pay for plus to really get the benefits. The paid version definitely has more in-depth structured courses for deep diving into inner work, but they also have shorter free courses that introduce wonderful concepts and give you enough to work with. There’s also live yoga classes pretty much 24/7, and that' with the free version. Basically, this app is really trying to actually help people.

So I really like this app, I want to give it 5 stars but.... 1. It won't play anything all the way through. It just stops playing mid way through the selection. Sometimes I fall asleep and don't realize it fully till I see the app in the morning, and sometimes it stops playing before I'm asleep. That's not helpful at all. 2. I look for the longest running sound tracks. Ie: over 90 minutes. The current filter only searches over 60 minutes. There's a lot to sift through to find the longer tracks.

This is exactly what I needed. The free content is not limiting you from achieving the apps intention. The plus membership is nice, and I did participate in a trial, but I needed to see what the free content was about. The app doesn't force you or constantly throws ads or suggestions of a membership. The selection of teachers and filters makes this app amazing. This was the first meditation app on my list to try, and now I dont feel like trying anything else. Thank you!!!

I love this app! I actually pay for a membership which is crazy because I'm extremely cheap. My only issue is that it's getting a little cluttered in terms of features/prompts. I think the ideal number of prompts to be presented with after a meditation is 0 to 1. That said, please never get rid of the 8-hour nature soundscapes. They have improved my sleep so much.

Wonderful app with endless amounts of talks, meditations, and sounds to help you. I use it constantly. I have gotten bone-conducting hesdphones to listen to sound therapy throughout my day. I have used it for so many years that I finally went for the Plus Subscription and love it even more. I truly appreciate how much is available for free though, and advocate for that continued benefit for all.

i highly recommend this app. the free version is a wonderful gift because of the diversity of music it has and ad free. the plus features are worth paying for. I feel like I have healed and grown working thru the many lessons and courses I'm listening to. 4/25/25- the "fresh coat of paint" as you say has ruined my experience of this app. the remodel has destroyed how easily I was able to lean in and relax.

sighhhh. this app is everything. using insight timer consistently, i have 135 total days meditated & 66 consecutive days completed. i use the app from the moment i wake up, work on my laptop, in an uber, when i’m home reading or cooking, and finally when i sleep. i can’t believe there’s a FREE app like this that houses so many wonderful meditation tracks. you can choose music or guided meditation. i ‘ve even played the kid meditations for my little nephew to fall asleep. in the settings area, it has a full chart of your progress and how many total minutes etc you’ve meditated. seeing the numbers really motivates you to keep the streak going & meditate daily. if you don’t like guided meditation, there’s a simple timer you can use, which is the original purpose of the app. thank you to the creators of insight timer & the teachers who provide their guidance & positive energy. i’ve tagged them on instagram stories in the past & they always reply and like. i love an interactive company. i see myself purchasing their ‘member plus’ version which has a lot of cool features. i rarely write app store reviews but this platform has truly helped me in my daily life. THANK YOU! sending peace & love your way. download this dang app i tell ya! ~Ra

I don’t write reviews for apps. I felt compelled to do so for this one. First off, i have been trying to get into the practice of meditation for several years now. I’ve tried classes, doing it on my own, and various other apps: Calm, HeadSpace, etc. Problem with those apps is they all charge you a monthly fee after the trial period. This is the only truly free app for meditation. Once I got into it, it’s laid out so beautifully, easy to find specific meditations, and its so user friendly. I really found myself looking forward to meditating after the first couple of days. It is now a part of my morning routine and i could not imagine my life without it. They do offer courses in addition to the over 45,000 free meditations. I fell in love with one meditation guide in particular who led a Smiling Meditation which literally brought happy tears to my eyes while meditating! I found that she offered a 10-day self-confidence workshop. I wound up going ahead and purchasing the yearly membership for $65. Well worth it to me bc i don’t think I could run out of courses or premium content on this app! Could not recommend enough! If you have had other apps collecting space on your phone, do yourself a favor and delete them! Get Insight Timer!

As a teacher, I’ve been recommending different apps and music for my students and patients over the years and I can honestly say that I have switched and I use Insight Timer EVERY DAY without fail and have done so since the day I found it! I recommend it to everyone! I’m so impressed with the content and how it’s broken down by category and by time. If you only have a few minutes, you still can access a mind space to breathe. There is so much to explore and do within this little app. You can choose to approach meditation from a spiritual or scientific angle, you can simply use it to breathe or listen to lectures and learn something new, you can use it as a meditation timer or go into a chat room and discuss meditation or philosophy with other like minded people. The option to join and become part of a community and connect with other people on the journey of learning and discovery is wonderful, and it’s international platform makes it uniquely powerful. I can’t say enough about this because it’s so much more than an app, it’s an idea that came together in an app and created an international community of meditators and made it accessible to even the newest beginner. I have passed this app on to over a hundred people and will continue to do so! I can’t recommend this enough!!

I initially downloaded this app for the timer - a nice variety of authentic sounding bowls, blocks, and chimes. Fast forward four years and I'm continually blown away by the incredible amount and quality of the guided meditation content now available here! All for free!! With new recordings arriving each day, there's everything from basic breath work and mindfulness practices, to creative visualization and hypnotherapy, Yoga Nidra, meditations on specific topics (I've noticed everything from improving your ball game to having a healthy pregnancy!), children's meditations, meditations in a variety of foreign languages, music, and spiritual talks. While most of the offerings seem to be pretty secular, there are some which might appeal more specifically to people with backgrounds in Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and probably other religions as well. There's everything from world renown spiritual leaders to up and coming teachers from around the world. I've found some real gems here and have bookmarked many more than I'll probably ever get to as I keep coming back to some favorites. I haven't gotten into the social aspect of this app, but that is also there for people who want that. I do enjoy seeing the charts of my practice over time and feel more centered and able to cope with life as I enjoy realizing the personal goals I've set. Thank you!!

I've been through quite a few meditation apps, but Insight Timer is by far the best and the one I've been using consistently for months now and plan to continue using. Unlike other apps that only feature their own meditations or require you to pay to access all of them, Insight Timer allows users to upload their own meditations and there is an enormous catalog with more added each day. Also, you can choose from the amount of time to the category of meditation you want and see/leave ratings and reviews on anything. As if this weren't great enough, it also has the best meditation timer I've seen in any app. Set any amount of time or infinite time, add the bell of your choice from one to three times, beginning and/or end and/or intervals. AND beyond these wonderful things, it offers groups to enter for support or kind messages, and it logs your progress! It's so great to be able to see how many days consecutively you've meditated and for me this is a huge motivator not to miss a day. It's also interesting to see your days and weeks compared and how much time total you've spent on the timer vs guided meditations. Recommend this app to anyone and everyone who enjoys being relaxed and grounded!(I.e. Every human being)

3.5 stars. GREAT track library, but app is SUPER busy: too many sections to check. It's cluttered & difficult to find what you want to use regularly. There should be more redundancy, a streamlined interface, so you can find meds more easily. They claim 1000s of tracks, but I feel bottlenecked when searching and having to scroll thru 1000s of tracks ONE. AT. A. TIME. What am I missing out on bc I didn't want to scroll for hours to find some great deep cuts? 5 star library, 2-star functionality.

The app constantly interrupts you for input, check-ins, teacher ratings, which is fine except there's no obvious way to turn them off.

You've destroyed a good app, why?

been using since the pandemic, it just keeps getting more and more bloated.

Get Insight Timer!

sighhhh. this app is everything. using insight timer consistently, i have 135 total days meditated & 66 consecutive days completed. i use the app from the moment i wake up, work on my laptop, in an uber, when i’m home reading or cooking, and finally when i sleep. i can’t believe there’s a FREE app like this that houses so many wonderful meditation tracks. you can choose music or guided meditation. i ‘ve even played the kid meditations for my little nephew to fall asleep. in the settings area, it has a full chart of your progress and how many total minutes etc you’ve meditated. seeing the numbers really motivates you to keep the streak going & meditate daily. if you don’t like guided meditation, there’s a simple timer you can use, which is the original purpose of the app. thank you to the creators of insight timer & the teachers who provide their guidance & positive energy. i’ve tagged them on instagram stories in the past & they always reply and like. i love an interactive company. i see myself purchasing their ‘member plus’ version which has a lot of cool features. i rarely write app store reviews but this platform has truly helped me in my daily life. THANK YOU! sending peace & love your way. download this dang app i tell ya! ~Ra

Thank you!!

I greatly appreciate the variety of meditations, the free library and the free challenge courses I've participated in this year. The app works well with zero issues. Most importantly, the experience has made an impact on my life. Thank you.

Get Insight Timer!

sighhhh. this app is everything. using insight timer consistently, i have 135 total days meditated & 66 consecutive days completed. i use the app from the moment i wake up, work on my laptop, in an uber, when i’m home reading or cooking, and finally when i sleep. i can’t believe there’s a FREE app like this that houses so many wonderful meditation tracks. you can choose music or guided meditation. i ‘ve even played the kid meditations for my little nephew to fall asleep. in the settings area, it has a full chart of your progress and how many total minutes etc you’ve meditated. seeing the numbers really motivates you to keep the streak going & meditate daily. if you don’t like guided meditation, there’s a simple timer you can use, which is the original purpose of the app. thank you to the creators of insight timer & the teachers who provide their guidance & positive energy. i’ve tagged them on instagram stories in the past & they always reply and like. i love an interactive company. i see myself purchasing their ‘member plus’ version which has a lot of cool features. i rarely write app store reviews but this platform has truly helped me in my daily life. THANK YOU! sending peace & love your way. download this dang app i tell ya! ~Ra

Thank you!!

July 2025 thinking about finding another, more simple app.. Too many pop-ups that can't be disabled. Too many menus to find the features I've used for 9 years! Subscription is expensive & according to most reviews not worth it anymore, so I won't re-subscribe. Nov. 2021 Love this app, it got me into regular meditation. Some of the live sessions have been transformative! Made some really beautiful connections through the groups feature too. Thank you for creating such a lovely community :)

Uninstalled.

been using since the pandemic, it just keeps getting more and more bloated.

Right now I only use it for the meditation timer, but I do want to do more with it eventually cos it's got a ton of content. The meditation timer is everything I wanted & then some. I just wanted to be able to have some preset meditations with intervals (which was surprisingly hard to find); it does that, plus it keeps track of my meditation stats and even lets me discard a session if I don't want it to count toward the stats (which is great cos I use it to keep my showers short). Awesome app!

Thank you!!
