As far as endless runners go, this is a good one. I've been playing off and on since the additional characters still had blue aura effects. I like how you can play even as lesser used characters like Cream, Blaze, and Big being playable is so funny. If I could give any suggestions, it would be to be able to back up save data to your account. It really bites to have to start over after reinstalling. Luckily, even old event characters are unlockable in later level ups. That's really appreciated.
(EDIT: 5/6/26) Thank you to Sega for the last update, they seem to have addressed the issue with the frame rate that I mentioned last time. Still one of my go-to games, but I have a few nitpicks. Unlocking characters feels a lot more grind-heavy than it was a year ago. Also, Sega seems to be phasing out headstarts, as they can no longer be acquired through the store or the bonus wheel. As someone who relies on headstarts for acquiring characters, I view this as a needless, misguided change. 😒
It's a fun, simple game that doesn't carry all of the grief and unfair difficulty Sonic Forces: Speed Battle gives. Fun time overall. The New Score Attack Mode is also good for a quick game and to earn extra rewards too. The only downside is not including specific characters like Tikal, Chaos, Gamma, Zavok and Zeena among the playable cast.
Too many ads. I swear, almost every button I click in the main menu triggers an advertisement. Not to mention that ads play almost every time you try to start a run. I go to start a run, and ad plays. A run ends, and another ad plays. I try to go to character selection, and an ad plays. I get it's a free app, but I've seen many other free apps with WAY less advertisements in them. It's almost like SEGA stuffs so many ads in this game to push you to make an in-app purchase. A scumbag move.
It's a fun and entertaining app, would recommend if you like endless running games! You don't need to spend money on anything and can easily exit out of ads. The boss battles are fun, but I wish there was a bit more variety, such as fighting other deadly six, but since it's a small game, I understand for only having two.
